Wow!! Toss the Romans - except that very small one, it's cute. It's the flint core that's taken the day. A dream find. The flakes off that could be knapped for virtually any job that required some finishing. Perhaps arrowheads for small game as well. Whoever lost that had to be mighty miffed. Core's all prepped, ready to go, a few flakes struck off, & where did it go? It's a beauty. Thanks again for another fine vid. Take your break, & see you when you're back.

Hi Alexandra what an incredible hunt again I can't believe the amount of Roman coins you found. The flint is an awesome find well done . The Georgian coin was in very good condition for sure. Sorry it's taken so long to watch, I will see you on the next one.
Amazing finds! So many coins! The flint was fantastic. The last thing looked like a lid off a toy teapot or something, I might be wrong lol. Looking forward to the next one!
The usual great finds. Finding flints are nothing unusual in Texas and New Mexico. My family's ranch had a nice size hill we dubbed Flint Hill. My brother and I would roam around it looking for arrowheads. We are having a foul heat wave. It got to 106 today. 107 yesterday. Dogs got a bath as they were getting pretty stinky and they loved the clean feeling. I hope you have a wonderful holiday....after getting some business done.
Thank you Cyndye and lucky you being able to find so many worked flints that was my first definite one after decades of keeping my eyes peeled - they are there but look so average mst of the times - would love to find an arrow head!
Hi Alex, you certainly had a good day on the Romans! That’s a beautiful piece of flint. We find a lot of that sort of thing here in the United States. We find arrowheads spearpoints, all kinds of tools that Native Americans had used for thousands of years. It’s not unusual at all here to find arrowheads ,spear points, and such in the plowed fields and along the river’s. I have certainly found my fair share of arrowheads while detecting. what you may have is a chunk of flint that was carried not just to make one point out of but perhaps several. that chunk that you have would make several bird points and small animal projectiles. You were very fortunate to find that that is a great find and I’m happy for you I truly am. Give Tasci a scratch behind the ear for me. ~Paul
Hi Paul - thats exactly what it is - i explained a bit about it when I goy back to HQ - its a metholithic "core" for exactly the purpose you stated... would love to find an arrowhead its top of my list! Hope all well over there and All the Best!

Hi Alexander and thanks once more for a superb production - I honestly think Channel 4 or 5 should be signing you up to do a regular series on the TV, you ARE that good. Have a great holiday and good luck with the antique business👍
Damn Alex!! What a video! Your expertise, knowledge and research are next to none! Every time I see your vids posted I stop and have to watch!!!! Love every minute of them!!!! Congrats as always on some of the most incredible finds on U tube!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Alexander. Another great day in the sunshine in that exceptional field. I think your Allectus reverse is "PAX AVG", so minted between 293 and 296 AD. and the mint mark looks like London. That Vespasian is great despite the worn reverse. In your size line up, the second to last one is mid to late 4th C and may be Valentinian II. The smallest one is late 4th C- 5th C but I can't find an obverse like it on Wildwinds, so it is very intriguing. Best of luck with the next adventure.
I thought it was intriguing to John though I think it might be barbarous which would explain it! I really like it though - unusual cross... for its age I think. Thanks as always for the brilliant research it is much appreciated! Hope all well down there and All the Best, Alexander
Thanks for another wonderful video Alexander. Can I ask, the land you are on has seedlings in it and you said you are being careful, how do you assure the farmer you are going to be careful etc with his crops? The reason I ask is that if I take up metal detecting in future I imagine this is one of the first hurdles I should expect to come accross.
You really do so little damage if any Andrew, but obviously if the farmer feels differently he will rightly bot let you... you should see what gets left behind after harvest; the odd seedling dug up by a detetctorist will make absolutely no difference! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Congratulations Alexander ,on those fantastic finds. Wow, that worked bit of flint is amazing. The KG3 half penny was sweet. Have a great break, and I hope to see you back soon. Give Tasci a pat from me.✌️👍🇦🇺🦘
Oh WOW Alexander, you are on a roll !! So many beautiful Roman coins! The star of the show though must be the worked flint. Never seen anything like it 'cept for a display at Grimes Graves over 60 years ago! Have a great break, all the best, John.

Hi Alexander. Firstly, thank you so very much for your UA-cam channel. I catch up on your latest each week. Interested in getting into detecting. Could you please let me know what are your goto catalogues or reference books for your finds. Thanks in advance.
Sorry Nick not to have got back sooner, I have been taking a little break! I use the internet a lot esp. the detecting hub forum and the Portable Antiquities Scheme but my favourites are Spink Coins, Ancient British Coins and Hattatt's brooches - i did a video on reference books for coins on the other channel I will dig out the link for you. All the Best, Alexander
Coins were fab but the ancient flint was amazing! I have arrowheads from across the US and 1 grinding pestle stone from ancient Indians of Western US. Not as old as your finds but nice pieces of history. Cheers from Florida, happy holiday( vacation)
Thank you Alex - your joy and enthusiasm has brightened my day! I noticed you mentioned having dug in Hampshire. I'm from Hampshire myself; whereabouts did you dig?
@@HolzHammerSagas I was born in Winchester, spent all my holidays with my grandparents near Nether Wallop and ended up living in Medstead, not far from Alton, the home of Sweet Fanny Adams. There's a ton of history around the Wallops and my Grandad often picked up bits of Roman pottery which he donated to the Andover Museum. I miss all that...
Wow, that's a fantastic day Alex, and thanks 🙏as ever for sharing... (I make that 9 Roman coins?!... 🤯). Big news here in Cheshire: I've finally got my Deus 2!! Super-Excited, and off for the 2nd little Test-Mission tomorrow... 😁 Take care then, Bobby 🤖
Fantastic , the finds are stunning , the flint is just beyond words, well done saving all this history. I did leave a message on the last video , also instagram , hope all is well , hope to hear back from you , fantastic content 👍👌
The flint is a truly remarkable find. Once again, in a day you find more Roman coins than my friends and I have collectively found ever. I did find the tiniest fibula recently though. Entertaining, informative and inspiring as ever, plus I never get bored by Roman coins 😀👍
Great video ,and the person that said you should not walk on ploughed field is misinformed , its OK as long as you put the soil back, I learned this from one of the farmers ,he said you can't damage the crop but just fill it back in ,it will still grow.
I think we do about a hundreth less damage than deer, hare and badgers etc. I couldn't be bothered to get in to a fight John! Hope all well and thanks for that! Hope all well!
So strange w usa metal detecting go wow with all your finds with absolutely astonishing amazement. Yet we find as you called " work flint" quite often.. again you are so very lucky and blessed w your finds.
You know Wes I kind of agree - in my case its a much rarer find and so tactile you have to have it in the hand really to fully get it but I feel you already do! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas one of my few prized possessions is a small thumb scraper from the same era. I find it absolutely amazing that we can pick these items up from our gardens and handle them, knowing our ancestors worked that stone, it's baffling. Gold coins and coins in general have their special place, but these stone items are just something else. We recently found a brilliant fossil , which is next level, an entire worm/eel, curled up into a spiral.
@@HolzHammerSagas You got something with this hobby. Hope it grows. It just takes one video to go viral to skyrocket on this site to leapfrog into a big channel. Here's hoping you find something really special one of these days.
I really enjoyed that one Alex. I think the lithic was amazing but now then young man, do me a favour, jot down the exact words you used to get the farmer to agree to you detecting on that sprouting sweetcorn, I'll try and see if it works for me 😎
You really don't do it any harm Colin - A farmer once asked to detect sprouting beans because they "needed thinning!" His words not mine!!! Hope all well and thanks for watching - good to hear from you!
Hello Alex.....I got a good laugh thinking of the last fellow who was busy making his stone tools only to be ran over by a herd of mammoths!!! Well how are you doing?? Any thoughts on trying out a higher freq yet??? You just might he surprised!!! Holler back when you can!!!
Im in the desert of Arizona in the US so no option for me to find Ancient coins. Plus its often too hot. But i just purchased my first Parthian coin today. Love watching your videos!
Very cool Kevin well done - i don't know much about Parthian coins but I do now they were a very advanced Empire in their own right - I will have to google as not much chance of finding one of those over here but you never know - Hope all well over there in Arizona and thanks for joining! All the Best, Alexander
I learned the Parthians were very resilient to the Roman's. Similar to how Germania tribes were. Accept the Parthians used lots of horsemanship and archery which caused Roman's to fail against them many times until the Roman's adapted. I'm no expert. Still learning myself 😁
Another wonderful video Alexander. Lovely Romans and excellent Georgian 👍 obviously amazing knapped flint 😁 what a great day! Are your growing seasons out of sync? young maize like that is normally early May,, or is it that you are behind with your episodes? Look forward to your next, as always, Mark, Ruthin 🐆 🏴
Thanks Mark - that was late June and maybe they felt it was to dry for the crop to get a hold if they put it in ealrier - it was a surprise to be on it as I said! Hope all well with you!
Yes could well be Victoria ... hope all well and thanks for watching; sorry its taken me so long to reply I have been taking a little break! All the Best, Alexander
The core is mesolithic and blades (flakes at least 2x longer than their width) removed from it were used as raw material to make tiny blade tools - microliths. The previous industrial period was the upper Paleolithic which is when blade tools and the removal of blades from cores was invented. Most blade tools were larger and were replaced by microliths during the Mesolithic as big game open range hunting was replaced with smaller forest dwelling game. Neither upper Paleolithic nor Mesolithic populations favored cave dwelling but rather having open air base camps near bodies of water because fishing was a main source of protein. Your core was only partly used and would have supplied many more blades had it continued to be used as a flint source. Blades were removed from the top end where the underlying flint is exposed and in a circular manner until the core was used up. Give that dog a hug for me!
I pretty much never change as it suits me so well on everything Ronald... Its the Hot programme with reactivity lowered to 2.5 hope that helps! All the Best, Alexander

Wow! Things come up in that field the way I used to find them in the late 1970s. Georgian and Roman bronze coins usually have lost their patina. Perhaps it is the sandy soil as you say but I wonder if there's been less chemical use on that field. ANother excellent video but I wish you wouldn't upload them when I'm trying to work. 🤨😁

I’ve yet to find a Roman coin but I’d genuinely rather find that Georgian than my first Roman. Beautiful!
if I didn't like the Roman Era so much SS I would agree with you!
What fantastic finds, congratulations 😊
Thank you The Rhins Ranger! Much appreciated and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander
I’d love you to do a video on your collection mate you must have some finds over the years!
Ive done a couple of videos on the other channel Mark but will do another soon! Hope all well!
That was a different find Alexander it's amazing the condition of the Roman coins, that soil has been kind. As always another awesome video, take care and all the best cheers Arthur
Thanks Arthur and Hope all well with you!
@HolzHammerSagas all is well here, going detecting in the morning, waited patently for the weather to come good
@@arthurgolddigger7336 Good luck!
Always enjoy the videos. Great finds. I have found a lot of American Indian artifacts over the years.
How cool! Hope all well Terry!
You certainly know your signals. Far to many rely on numbers. Keep up the tremendously sturdy videos sir.
Thank you very much for that takeitonthechin that's much appreciated and I'll try my best to keep up the tremendous standard! Hope all well with you and thanks for watching; all the best, Alexander
Hi Alexander and thanks once more for a superb production - I honestly think Channel 4 or 5 should be signing you up to do a regular series on the TV, you ARE that good.
Have a great holiday and good luck with the antique business👍
Very kind of you Bodger! If you know anyone at Channel 4 spread the News! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best!
What can i say, that i haven't already? Really enjoy rhe finds, but also the history lesson that puts the coin or object into context.
Another delight
Thanks Anthony! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best!
Damn Alex!! What a video! Your expertise, knowledge and research are next to none! Every time I see your vids posted I stop and have to watch!!!! Love every minute of them!!!! Congrats as always on some of the most incredible finds on U tube!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Ray!!! That was nice to read and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas thanks for that. Keep it up.
Absolutely amazing.
Thanks Sidney!!!!
Congratulations Alexander ,on those fantastic finds. Wow, that worked bit of flint is amazing. The KG3 half penny was sweet. Have a great break, and I hope to see you back soon. Give Tasci a pat from me.✌️👍🇦🇺🦘
Always a treat seeing your finds and your videos help with learning the deus 👏👏👏 so ty Alexander have a well deserved break and see you soon 👍👍
Cheers Rob!!!
Oh WOW Alexander, you are on a roll !! So many beautiful Roman coins! The star of the show though must be the worked flint. Never seen anything like it 'cept for a display at Grimes Graves over 60 years ago! Have a great break, all the best, John.
Thanks John!!!! Hope all well
great finds Alex....
Thanks Dazza! Hope all well!
How do you find so many Roman coins? I'm out all the time and haven't found one yet! I'm very envious
You will Aaron I am sure - don't think about it to much and it will happen - I look forward to hearing about it!
Such a good quality video as always....fields to dream on.. cheers
Thanks very much and hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas everything is good kid, out a couple of times this week on a new permission. Nowhere as good as those fields of yours underfoot.... need to up my video game, noticing you use three cameras.... gopro ?
@@thetoffeedigger I use a go pro ( very cheap old one but good if there is lots of light I dont bother with it if its cloudy its too old to deal with it... then a sony and a dji - was very faffy to start off with but I know the drill now and can set up pretty fast!
@@HolzHammerSagas cheers, all taken onboard. Best wishes for future digs.
Pretty cool Michele I love the idea of an ancient pestle stone! Hope all good over there! x
Great video as always Alexander!😊 can’t believe the condition of the Georgian coin you don’t see them like that! Beautiful well saved
I really liked finding that Mark - bit of a bonus and its cleaning up nicely too! Hope all well!
Always look forward to your videos Alex, you never fail to amaze. Love the flint. Wonderful history in your hand, if only it could talk!
I know .... i was really rather bowled over with that Nick! Hope all well!
Thank you Alex - your joy and enthusiasm has brightened my day! I noticed you mentioned having dug in Hampshire. I'm from Hampshire myself; whereabouts did you dig?
Near Winchester Spitalhatch.... where were you? Hope all well!
Good luck with it Bobby - let me know how you get on!
@@HolzHammerSagas Will do matey... Decent little session today, tho' still getting used to the tones etc. 🙏
Fantastic , the finds are stunning , the flint is just beyond words, well done saving all this history. I did leave a message on the last video , also instagram , hope all is well , hope to hear back from you , fantastic content 👍👌
Thanks Chris - I got your email - thank you I will reply soon! Hope all well!
The flint is a truly remarkable find. Once again, in a day you find more Roman coins than my friends and I have collectively found ever. I did find the tiniest fibula recently though. Entertaining, informative and inspiring as ever, plus I never get bored by Roman coins 😀👍
Tiny fibulas are quite rare I think Tim - well done! And thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
And u will NEVER BORE US with roman finds
Thats good to know as I will never bore myself with them and it gives me an excuse to learn more and more about them!
Thanks Con k and hope all well!
I think you have stumbled upon a Romano money tree plantation. Cheers.
Lerts hope so!!!
Amazing video again love all the info still waiting for my first roman coin I found a roman brooch
Good Stuff EP, your coin cant be far behind! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
I think that core is equivalent to any gold coin. And some. Well done chap.
Just checking back since subbing and the improvements to the videos in editing are noticeable.
Thanks Second Hat - good to know and thanks for telling me! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas You got something with this hobby. Hope it grows. It just takes one video to go viral to skyrocket on this site to leapfrog into a big channel. Here's hoping you find something really special one of these days.
@@thesecondhat4717 Thanks - that is a positive outlook and I will take it on board!
Still thinking Tim! Will email later! Hope all well with you guys!
Amazing.
Thanks Jon! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
@@ImaginationHobbies i think thats about the nub of it Kevin...
Hope all well with you!
ich schaue morgen weiter ..jute nacht 😴
Thanks Stephan! 😁
Gosh dilemma the spherical ball looks similar to post-med- hook but the shank is straight? So maybe it is Roman a pin, very intriguing indeed...
Yes could well be Victoria ... hope all well and thanks for watching; sorry its taken me so long to reply I have been taking a little break! All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas ⚒️❤️
Hi
How i can show you some ancient coins?
The core is mesolithic and blades (flakes at least 2x longer than their width) removed from it were used as raw material to make tiny blade tools - microliths. The previous industrial period was the upper Paleolithic which is when blade tools and the removal of blades from cores was invented. Most blade tools were larger and were replaced by microliths during the
Mesolithic as big game open range hunting was replaced with smaller forest dwelling game.
Thank you very much Leonard for all that - very good knowledge and very helpful. Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Yet another great video. Can you tell me what program you used today please. Happy hunting.
I pretty much never change as it suits me so well on everything Ronald... Its the Hot programme with reactivity lowered to 2.5 hope that helps! All the Best, Alexander

the bronze iron artefact look like a end terminal from a cruciform brooch i wonder if it may of been broken and fixed using a iron pin or maybe even as a part of the brooch original . the pin looks saxon to me so it would be same sort of time period great finds mate well done
It could well be MS it feels like more than a mount or a pommel.... sort of thing you have to see in real life really... Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas always mate great find its old and rare
Sorry Stefan! But thanks as always for watching its much appreciated! Hope all well - now back to work! 😁
you might find your aureus sometime
That would be very nice!!!! Hope all well Hervé!
You deserve a much higher number of subscribers as your Roman coin finds and knowledge are numerous and fascinating. While another detectorist the Scottish fellow has 30k subscribers and he hardly finds anything and was over the moon about finding a bus conductor’s stack of shillings for example. And your banter is just as good and inspiring
