great video man not enough people talk about the actual design process its good to see more and more people finally talking about it. I always find this is the hardest part of animation process when you staring at a blank screen.
It's absolutely in the plans. I'm looking to talk more about the soft skills of motion design as well. Coming up soon Animatics, writing for video, and dealing with client feedback.
I second that! Found this really interesting / useful--thanks Evan. I was a bit bowled over by the pre-production checklist. After AV Script, I'm generally lucky if I've got budget available for a very rough storyboard and some animatics for a couple of sections of the script. Too often it's almost straight into production. Look forward to the follow ups to this.
Thank you very much for sharing Evan! I am folowing your channel for a long time, I am not writting each time a comment, but I am saying it now: you remain one of the most professional and profound Ae and motion graphic specialist! Keep it up, and again thank you much for sharing! ❤
You are very welcome. I'm glad you've stuck with the channel. I don't upload as regularly as I would like and comments like this really motivate me to do more. So thank you :)
Thank you for everything! Could you please share the link to the chess video? I remember watching it before but can’t seem to find it now. Thanks so much! 😄
a BOOK! What a strange ancient artefact you speak of! But seriously it really depends. If you want the definitive book on traditional animation I would recommend The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams. It is also filled with is a particular old school ethos but does contain a lot of good animation information. Is that the kind of thing you're after?
I really love this. I find this really helpful during my creative process. But whenever I am looking for inspiration outside of images I run into limitations. You seem not to have any issue with this at all. How do you go about finding animations or videos like you did in the tutorial?
I'm pretty consistently ingesting media. So I'm looking at curators like Stash, Wine After Coffee, Good Moves, Ice Cream Hater. I'm saving clips to Vimeo that stand out, trying to keep a record of things I find interesting if not for a project I'm on but just in general. I'm also looking at non mograph places like AdWeek or other advertisement publications.
Conspiracies were simpler back then I suppose. I was going to make a Beautiful Mind reference but I don't know if that many people have seen that movie any more.

Good to hear some things remain evergreen :)

Absolutely. I didn't even get into their export functions :)
Thanks a lot, very well done video! Looking forward to watching the rest of them!
Glad you enjoyed it! This was my favourite series to do so far.
Great topic, thanks for sharing @ECAbrams!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Judging from the thumbs down ratio this was not a universally loved move ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Really needed this. Thanks @ECAbrams
THANK YOU!!! I’m so unorganized! I find myself always wanting to skip to editing... but this’ll definitely help me focus on what I need to do.
Excellent! That's what I love to hear. If this video can improve one person's projects than it's working out.
Thanks for saving my Day! Cheers
Great! Would love to see more pre production videos on the other steps you mention before production happens.

ECAbrams That sounds brilliant, especially writing for video as I think it’s something I take for granted and don’t really put it as a process.

I can’t believe that this intro didn’t end with a pun😂😂👌
It's like jazz. You have to listen to the puns I'm not making.

Wow! I am trying it while watching this video, and I love it. The "#FFFF1F" part is just incredible! Thank you for your amazing video!
thank you!
I usually get carried away doing these kind of stuff before doing the actual project.
I love this but I wish they have an app for ipads ...
They may have a few things in the works ;)
Do you play on chess.com or lichess?
one video costs one million .....
Ahhhhhh... but don't you just miss those 80's conspiracy theories taking shape?
