    another great video, Ron! FYI: Acoustimac.com offers actual acoustic panels and you can upload your own art/print which they will print to the front of the panels. No affiliation.

    If someone needs to you can get similar standoffs locally at a hardware store . Brackets to use a 2x4 to bar a gate .

    Great alternative approach to acoustic room treatments. I’ve considered going the traditional bass trap room treatment route:
    Wife: What are those foam thingies in the corners and hanging on the walls?
    Me: I thought we agreed that the bonus room was my personal space honey?

    Hi Ron - found your video on this topic very interesting, thanks!!......I have recently got some large picture canvasses (with open backs) from some goodwill stores and it might be my imagination but I feel they help a lot even without mods (the room is small where they were placed). Great photos you have there too and a great idea overall !!! Cheers

    I've had a similar idea for a while now and wasn't exactly sure where to start, looks like I'll be ordering sooner than later now. Since my listening room is just my living room and I like to keep art sort of on-theme for the room it's in, I'm planning to get movie posters for some of my favorite films printed on canvas and modify those.

    This was a great video And confirmed the validity of similar ideas I had earlier this year using canvas prints. I know you only reviewed the brands chosen in the video, but have you ever looked at canvas pop, and would you mind explaining the blow test that you referred to?

    Hi Ron
    This is a nice compromise between some sound absorbtion and the WAF. I would suggest that you attach some cloth (muslin) to the back. While the fiberglass you used is rigid as air passes thru some glass fibers will come loose and into the air then on to the floor where your infant and toddlers crawl and then they will ingest it. I would have used the looser (bats) of rock wool) myself. I hope there is a follow up video if you notice any differences in the sound quality of your room.

    • @Newrecordday2013
      @Newrecordday2013  3 роки тому

      That’s true and adding a backing is a good idea for those concerned. Thanks!

  • @kuchesezik
    @kuchesezik 24 дні тому

    were there any tested results after the installation? i'd still expect them to absorb some mids and lows, despite the thinness of the fiberglass installed.

  • @gupdike3

    Thanks for the review and video Ron, I saw a disclaimer about these might not be the best solution as acoustic panels. I understand that you may be compromising because you want them to look like art. But you have me wondering how can I improve on the performance of the panels? Do you have another video that discusses this?

  • @SpiderMan-aa

    Another great video!! I used Rockwoll to make my own acoustic frames and covered it with speaker fabric and hung on the wall behind me. You mentioned safety. Is this ok? Or should I change something? Thanks! Value your input.

    • @Newrecordday2013

      Nah it’s fine. It has been known to be potentially hazardous when cutting or when it’s particles are airborne.

    Hmm I kind of expected the other panels to be listed in comments.A bit more of comparisson of canvas vs sole purpose dedicated would have been nice too.But good un;- nice option

  • @HoomanR17
    @HoomanR17 3 роки тому

    What is the purpose/benefit of the "stand-off-wall" brackets.. meaning vs. having these panels close(r) to the wall?

    • @Newrecordday2013
      @Newrecordday2013  3 роки тому

      Adding distance behind the panel adds to how effective it is at its job.

    • @HoomanR17
      @HoomanR17 3 роки тому

      @@Newrecordday2013 Thanks. Is that true with most absorption panels or just these?

    • @AmazonasBiotop
      @AmazonasBiotop 3 роки тому

      @@HoomanR17 it is true with all panels. When it is physics and the benefit is that it act as if the panel were a little bit thicker than they actually are and therefore extend its absorption coefficient a little bit lower down in frequency than it offers when it is close to the wall. (It is not much but maybe we get on the right side of the WAF).

      Make sure to also look at the decay time if you do measure.
      That were a funny video.
      And I were little shocked that they today make so bad image quality when it is clearly possible to do better.. And it looks like it is more likely to get a bad image quality than a acceptable. :(
