Ed Warby (drums) is a MACHINE on this one, and Johan does an amazing job pinning down the bass.
The synchrony that just blows me away is the first half of the lead section between Joost and Marcel (guitar). His legato lines flow as if the were triggers from that Hammond.
Timo is doing his best Andrew Kingsley imitation, trying to make Brittney feel at home.
(btw, as an IRL dentist, I can confirm that Mr Somer's hard palate shows no digns of oral cancer... damn dude, EVERYONE should have the ability to stretch the jaw so wide !!)
And of course the singers : Brittney does bring the proper aggression to this song. It is, after all, a T2 Tribute.
    Relentless.
And, mi corazon : Marcela and Irene keep up with Brit's unyielding belt. The vocal stamina is just insane in this one.
Joost a great track, all around.

Fate of Man is the opening track of Arjen's 2022 Star One album titled Revel in Time. Each song features a separate artist and is inspired by a time-travel themed movie. This one sung by Brittney Slayes is based on Terminator. Its a great album.

Great show. I was there and (passing a kidney stone). but it was worth it. The entire city of Tilburg supported the music and celebrated Arjen and his music, the artists would come to the outside patios and play for everyone. It was amazing to hear these great artists in person. Love your reviews! Keep up the good work.

What I love about this song, this live perfornance, and what makes me ecstatic, is that the metal world now knows who Brittney Slayes is, and how good she is, vocally.
And here's the thing: On the actual video for this, one of the comments was from someone who is a part of the Ayereon/Arjen Lucassen Facebook Group. And from what I understand, when Arjen mentioned talent he was looking for to perform on Star-One, this commenter suggested to Arjen to check out Brittney Slayes singing karaoke in Scotland in 2017. Brittney's chosen song? Queen of the Reich by Queensryche.
Arjen watched that video, and was so blown away that he knew he had to get Brittney to sing on Star-One, as Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden was unavailable.
When Fate of Man came out, I knew immediately that Arjen had struck metal gold on this track. And as us Archers have always known, Brittney is one of the best vocalists in metal right now -- but you'd never know it by her humility and how down-to-earth she is.
And look -- how good of a singer is Brittney, that not only did she step in and sing the vocal parts Floor Jansen was supposed to sing, but in this song, Brittney gets Floor's sister Irene Jansen as a backup singer? And Irene is a vocal talent in her own right.
But to bring it back around to the beginning, the world now knows Brittney Slayes. Us Archers have been begging for years for a live performance that leaves no doubt as to Brittney's vocal talent, to say she is that damn good.
And we finally get this...epic performance...of a vocalist that shows the metal world that the legacies of Dickinson, Geoff Tate in his prime, and Ronnie James Dio are in good hands. As I've said before, Brittney could cover Iron Maiden's live performance of Hallowed Be Thy Name in 1982, and she would sing it as epically as Bruce Dickinson did before I was born.
And if that's not enough, Arjen's projects might as well be called "The All-Stars of Metal," with how much sheer talent he has at his disposal. As far as I know, Ayereon's track "The Day That The World Breaks Down" holds the record for the number of individual vocalists on it at 11.
And now, Ayereon can add Brittney Slayes to the roster -- and Brittney deserves it wholeheartedly and without question.

Indeed, I was that fan :) It was actually a poll setup by another fan. But Arjen reads everything. I'm so chuffed to have seen Brittney on stage performing this knowing I've played a small part why she stood there. She killed Floor's parts of the 01011001 album and those are big shoes to fill.

Listen to the whole DVD. This is absolutely awesome. Being there was a life changer. I promised myself never to miss an Ayreon concert any more. And the live DVD captures this very well.

Yep, I like it! A lot... I already liked the album version which is really a banger and an earworm at the same time. But now on this live version it is even more powerfull, and clearly a magnificent piece of musicianship by the "wrecking crew" called Ayreon.
