  • Genesis Apologetics is at is again, and it's up to me, your friendly neighborhood gibbon, to bust them for being both super wrong and incredibly ignorant! This go around we are systematically covering their "Debunking the Seven Myths about the Bible, Genesis, and Noah's Flood (full movie)" over the course of 8 episodes.
I have not watched this video in advance so this is all fresh reaction content, right out of the outrage oven.
Please Join me in the first of the Myths: 1 - “While the Bible may be ‘inspired,’ by God, it’s not ‘inerrant’ and parts of it are just myth.”
You can find their video below:

In Greek mythology, Kerberos means spotted one. Hades dog is literally named Spot. He is also a very good dog.

When they say “If you break from the belief that all of the Bible is inerrant because it says it is, how do you believe any of it?” seems to indicate that the only reason they have to believe anything in the Bible is because the Bible says to. That seems like the weakest possible Christian position, and I also think it justifies the thing oft said of literalists that they don’t worship a god, they worship a book

I find the idea that the human urge to go "aww who'sagoodboi boobeeboobiboogibbiy" at our pets has been with us since ancient times very endearing.

As a Jew, The Tanakh is our book, I have never met a Jew that believes that Noah’s flood is historical, It’s a fire side tail that grew from a local event, If you believe the word is what you can see in every direction and there is a major flood you might assume the world is flooded.

I would watch an entire series dedicated to dog epitaphs. Maybe through tears but I would watch it.

The first five books of the Old Testament, or the Torah to call it by its real name, ends with Moses dying. Kinda interesting that the guy who supposedly wrote the entire thing

Ok, my issue is that the "bible" didn't exist when Jesus was alive, what he would have been referencing would have been the Torah. If the bible were to be inerrant then why did a group of men get together to decide which books would be included. If it is all true use all of them, but apparently the christian tradition of cherry picking goes all the way back to the beginning of the "bibles" existence. ..

I haven’t gotten far in the video yet but as a former historical-anthropologist-in-training - i was moving rapidly towards my phd when personal circumstances intervened - i just have to say that Egyptian memorials for their pets are some of my favorite things in all of history!! It makes me feel so connected to them; like, our love for our pets is a stand in for all the human characteristics that connect us all <$

"what gives us the right to pick and choose which parts to believe?" Oh, I don't know, maybe the same thing that gives you the right to pick and choose which OT laws to obey?

Moses is a fictional character. I can only think of one scholar, excepting those whoa re also fundamentalists, who accepts the existence of a historical Moses at all, and even that one does not thin he had anything to do with writing the Hebrew Bible.

Notice that in those movie clips that jeebus looks like a white Nordic man instead of a middle eastern man. The mythology is even continuously evolving through the years.

I find it totally expected that MacArthur concluded by trying to sell something. If there is one thing that is consistent among the creationists it is their need for money, preferable lots of it.

I've read lots of fantasy novels where a prophecy made early in the book comes true later in the same book or in a sequel.

The idea that scholars agree on the authors of the gospels, can attribute them to the names that are on them, or that they are eyewitness accounts is patently absurd. No good scholar Christan or secular would agree that they have evideciary warrant for any of those claims.
