He was bad game 5. As LS used to say when he casted, u cant give MVP to sum1 who played bad early. Yes he was the reason they came back into the game, but he was also the reason they had to comeback in the 1st place, cuz he got hard gapped for the first 20min of the game. Transformed 20min into the game while Sej already destroyed the game.

@@grezende4056 I said mvp of the series. Also, he didn't really get hard-gapped by peanut. He still did better in the early game. It was because of geng's entire team rotating better to prevent canyon from picking anyone out. You can rewatch the game. I mean again he was still the reason they had a chance in the mid-late game. Peanut did pretty well I'll admit but I think it was more the team roaming more - you can see doran and chovy roaming in the jungle more in game 5 compared to game 4.

Reminds me of 2021 finals G5, predator syndra can't get prio -> canyon can't play aggro -> can't shutdown the enemy jungler -> mid is also outscaled because of syndra -> lose

If anything, it devalues the series like this, where the stakes wouldn't be as high if it was a double elimination format. It would be nice to get more Bo5's though, especially amongst the top teams. But then we're looking at an even longer worlds that I'm sure would cause scheduling/venue issues. What do you think the best format would be? Just add double elimination after groups, slash groups entirely, or something else?

This series brought me back to 2016 SKT VS Rox Tigers. It will be remembered as one of the best BO5 in LOL history for sure.
Ironically the series that no one was excited to see as it was lck vs lck proved to be the series that was the most exciting so far. Props to both teams for playing out of their minds.
Only people who didn't watch DK games in group could say it will be quick stomp by Gen G.

Even though DK has to leave the worlds, it was absolutely mind blowing to watch their games. Both teams did amazing. These games might even be the peak of this year's worlds. Of course, everyone's looking forward to the finals but who knows if itll be as good a showdown as this battle between these 2 teams.

Idk if I'll go that far, might definitely be recency bias. However this series was incredible...and this whole game 5 bruh. Canyon dominating the first 5/10 min, into getting neutralized and GenG taking over the game, with DK somehow finding a way to claw it back around tons of random trade angles and that insane fight in the mid lane. Absolute madness
Still has nothing on KT vs Ig 2018. But very good never the less

The story lines behind it... Smeb never winning, Score regarded as the jungle goat(at the time) but almost never winning anything, Deft never winning, ancient godsupport Mata and Pawn(he was eventually subbed for Ucal but still).
At the otherside, Rookie, so long with Ig as the best mid in China but never making it. Jackeylove, the first really young player of an entire New generation of players, facing off against titans of the old generation.
The fact this series ended the Korean supremacy. And they did against the strongest superteam ever assembled at the time(ON PAPER at least, but that summer KT actually looked unstoppable).
And so many good plays. Smeb holding TheShy as and TPing at the last moment is imprinted in my mind. And JLove flashing foward to kill Deft on game 5 with 5 ppl in front of him. Just to name a few.

These 5 games of GEN vs DK were literally the best of best games I've ever seen in my life. Both teams made beautiful plays over and over and over until the last second throughout all of the 5 games.
What an amazing game this was. From the 1st to last round, just pure entertainment. I'm happy Chovy and Peanut won. Now i want them to face T1 in the Finals. Amazing Worlds this year.

normally im not watching twitch, but checked if a friend of mine last streamed and saw like 270k people watching lol, so i checked in and this was at the beginning of this bo5, and im so glad i watched it. this was the most tense i ever was watching lol, i think, since season 1. great teams!
Possibly the best series we will see this worlds. Everyone absolutely gave it their all, Im very sad that we will not get to see more of Canyon and Kellin, two players that are not only insanely talented but also so incredibly entertaining to watch that it's a real shame that they will not play more games this year.

Syndra don't matter she's just there to stun or pick one enemy meanwhile aph is the key to this fight so lulu will lend anything to him just to survive the teamfight

Everyone is talking about how incredible Canyon was, but did you see the patience of Peanut? That man just sat there and watched Canyon take his crugs just to delay the Kayn transformation. I wanted Canyon to win it, but Peanut gave a master class on being the jungle weak side.

True. Nuguri was a complete 🤡 He could have frontlined for Showmaker and Deokdam like Doran did for Ruler and Lehends. Its the game deciding clash and nuguri decided to bail out like and idiot

Unfortunately, for DK, leaving Yumi open in the first two matches was very dumb decision, and it did cost them the series in the end.

Just watch this last fight again. Ruler dodged 2 scatters, the moonlight vision plus 1 insta cleanse to win the last fight.
If he misplays any1 step on that, DK wins this game. And to do it 44 mins into the game as a lucian.

Nuguri played too safe. Gen G was grouped; he should have gone in and CC them so Showmaker and deokdam could chain CC damage. Renekton is their tank engage but he played to the back like an ADC, forcing Showmaker and deokdam to go in.

You mean all semi spots? Also no, since all other 1st spot teams other than Damwon's group were from the LCK, it was guaranteed they would face another LCK team.

Why dash out, it confuses me especially when renek was full health, the whole teams priority is to keep Athelios alive (their main dmg to win the game) which they are aware off im sure. The positioning of the fight was in their favour as well, maybe a communication error? Gg anyways

What won Gen.G's 5th game was the Guardian Angel for Lucian... which now I realised it has an aura that prevents you from getting targeted completely... because if u invest everything from a Renekton only to get a GA, whix afterwards he doesn't die(behind Drake pit) it's just not worth, so instead he was forced to take out Nami...
Nuguri played the lanes well(all games), Canyon deserved much more but unfortunately for him, he didn't get that, Showmaker, still top mids and evolving very fast, Deokdam... in the adc role it's so volatile and... can't say anything, it is what it is and Kellin... did support as much as he could, nothing really bad to say...
I'm tryna convince myself why my fav. team lost is because comp diff and lucky freakin Lucian with GA... if that GA could've been broken before last 5v5... you can't deny it couldn't have gone DK's way

Tough Syndra game, dealing with Sej/Gnar frontline. So much to kill him never found a way into the backline outside of that one fight. Regardless he popped off the rest of the series, sometimes there's just nothing you can do.
You can smell the hesitation in DK on that last baron fight, they had a good flank and shouldve went in sooner.
Nuguri used his ult early and then kited away from the final fight when needing to dive in and kill Ruler. 😩
Nuguri played it too safe. He was the tank - go in stun for Showmaker and deokdam. Even if he dies at least he CCs them; Gen G was all grouped up.

Goddamn, this whole Worlds has been so amazing. How many games now do we have a bunch of people commenting "Best game of worlds so far!" over and over and over. This series was just something else. Love smiles on GenG after it, GGWP all around.
Just seeing the raw emotions and passion from all of the players at the end there.... happy for Gen G, sad to see DK go what an incredible series.

As this series ends, there are 2 things I have to say (and Ive been saying this for a while now, not only bcuz of this Worlds) for whoever wants to read it.
1st, Canyon IS the jungle GOAT, BY FAR. Like, the gap between him and the 2nd best jungler(be it Peanut Tian or Bengi) is wider than the gap between Faker and Rookie. He arguably has the highest peak amongst any player ever(Ive watched, Toyz, Dade, Faker, Smeb, Rookie and I 100% believe this, as a t1 fan) and his consistency as a top3 jungler in the world through out his entire career is amazing. What he does is unbelievable. Ppl has to start questioning if its time for him to take the #2 spot over Rookie or Mata on the all time list.
2nd, Ruler is the ADC goat. Career to career with Uzi, the only thing he still needed was a domestic title(do remember it took 6 years for Uzi to get his 1st domestic title, only in 2018), and he got it. Hes going to a semifinals AGAIN. He is starting to pile way more accolades than Uzi.
His peak is insane. Ppl think Guma with 216 kills this spring was amazing, but the kill record was once held by Ruler from summer 2020 with 209. Difference is, Gumas team was undefeated which makes it easier while Rulers team didnt even make 1st place. You can argue Guma was a nice factor in t1s run(mvp Keria was the bigger factor), but Ruler is undeniably THE factor for geng being competitive all these years. Fact of the matter is, if Ruler was having such a career on t1, this wouldnt even be a debate. Same with Canyon.
Congrats to GenG and Damwon for a great great series. But Damwon will forever regret letting BeryL go.
Generally agree with you but why the fuck are you even mentioning Mata? Mata is nowhere close and shouldnt even be in the argument for 2nd place in the goat conversation, Rookie, Deft, Ruler, Canyon, Showmaker, Smeb are all ahead of him and thats just off the top of my head.

Defts career is the most pathetic one after Clearlove and he has singlehandedly being the reason his teams loses internationally ever... specially in matchups hes supposed to win.
After Jackeylove(an inconsistent rookie at the time, who got gapped by Rekkles twice in group stage and Deft was supposed to hard gap) flashed on top of him in KT vs Ig game 5 to kill Deft and win the fight, he was getting so much hate I thought finally ppl will stop overrating this mediocre adc. But apparently not. Ppl forget pretty damn fast. He was also supposed to win agnst Imp since SSB would always win SSW during lck, but got shitstomped, bcuz whenever he goes international he forgets how to press buttons, apparently. Never even reached semifinals ever since s4. Dont u throw that mtfer name in there
If Mata never played again after 2014, he would still literally have a better career than Defts. But I can dig that perhaps hes not a top5. I have biases towards ssw players
Now Pray and Bang(yes, I said it) thats another conversation. Id also throw JLove above him as well. If Viper has one more good season or makes it to at least finals this year, u can throw him in there above Deft too

The reason why 2020 DRX with Doran, Pyosik Chovy Deft and Keria wasnt hyped at all, and when they had a small nice run ppl were legit surprised, while this 2022 GenG with Doran Peanut Chovy Ruler Lehends was immediately considered a mega super team is bcuz Ruler is that much better than Deft ever was. Cuz as far as Pyosik Keria vs Peanut Lehends, it really isnt that different.

The reason DRX wasnt that hyped was cause literally the majority of the team was rookies, that was Dorans 1st year as a starter and Keria/Pyosik were both rookies and i saw alot of people that thought that DRX team would be top 2 in LCK prior to the spring split starting that year and EVERYONE had them top 4, that was all of the back of Deft and Chovy and a little bit from Keria being a hyped up prospect, like Deft/Tusin was arguably the best botlane in the world the year before in 2019, they absolutely dominated LCK botlanes for that entire year. The hype for this current GEN.G roster was there because they upgraded multiple roles the year after they finished top4 at worlds which is something DRX in 2020 definetly didnt have.

Then he proceeded to not being able to gap Ghost at all and going down 3-0 to DK.
Its interesting their careers are comparable, bcuz not once Deft was argued as the best adc in China while Mata definitely was argued as equal or better than Meiko at times.
2017 he was also shitty with KT.
Plus, dominated all 2019? Do u have bad memory or u trolling? Kingzone were great during spring, Deft got 2nd in mvp race. They were shitty during summer and almost didnt even make it to playoffs, they were dominating absolutely no1 that summer and r amongst the worst kda.

He barely has a highlight in a 5 games finals, as an adc.
KT vs Ig is just another example, dude got humiliated and outdamaged by JLove all 5 games(when bot lane was regarded as the weak point for Ig), while Mata was the best performing player for KT(since he was the only 1 who played decent all 5 games).
Career is made out of accolades. He made it to semifinals... ONCE. Only to get hard clapped by Imp. And he wasnt losing in playoffs like Chovy who loses but has multiple highlights. He was the one inting his teams out of the tournament. U can clearly pick every team Deft played that got knocked out of whatver spring or summer playoffs or Worlds and pinpoint a bunch of inting moments. Like, its not like he just goes shy in these moments mediocre performance like Clid. He straight up ints. He has no moments like this spring playoffs finals where geng was losing but Ruler was trying to hard carry as Xayah. When it gets tough he either goes down silently or straight up hard ints

DK put themselves in a deficit by not banning Yumi twice. Otherwise, they very likely would have won. DK can come back even when they are down against Gen G in Games 2 and 5, and they stomped in Games 3 and 4. Whereas Gen G is too dependent on Ruler.
I am happy for Chovy and Peanut, as much as a t1 fan as I am I am rooting for both of those players a world title they deserve.

DK did look like the stronger team overall in this series, however they had some very questionable fight decisions that cost them the game. Big respect to Canyon and Showmaker that once again show that they really are world class.
