    i used the 440Mlb for a long time before i switched to the VM95sh as this was the successor to the 440Mlb, both very sweet sounding with the added bonus of the VM95 being much easier to fit and adjust with built in threads.

    36 y/o and At440 sounded much wider and clearer to me. Thanks for the comparisson, I think that I'll upgrade my vm95e with vm540, as the 440 is harder to find.

    More detail in the 440's play, but also far too bright for my taste. The VM95ML is just at the right spot.

      for the price, it is very competitive. The stylus is the same ML, the generator is different, anyhow, amazing times to get the ML profiles.

    The 440 gives more wide soundstage, more hights but less lower midrange, suming the only thing the 95 is better is in lower midrange 120hz - 300 hz

    I wish you would compare VM540 or 740 instead of the AT440 against the VM95 since they all are in the same family. AT range now belongs to history...

      Would be great to buy a VM540, maybe soon. I was choosing between Goldring 1042 and vm540. I hear a lot of bad things regarding the tracking ability of the Goldring, and i am obsessive about IGD. Probably vm540 it is.

      That would be a great comparisson. I'm planning to upgrade my vm95e and I'm not sure if I'll need the extra investment for a vm540

      @@javierdario4792 i already changed 3x 740. They all almost touch the record surface. Not sure what the problem is. Sound is good though. Apparently on 740 only the casing is metal instead of plastic. No other changes over 540.

      Vm740 is heavier than 540, it is not intended for most tonearms.

    I don't like the highs of the 440ML. I'm 38 yo. I think that if you are older than 50 yo 440ML could be better.

    AT440 = all mouth and no trousers.
    Id have the Vm95ML jist to have some body and colour back.
    In fairness it still sounds abit souless. In AT carts the shibata is the only good sounding tip imo. However switching to MC the Microlined PTG33ii is a giant killer... harmonically denser, insane imaging and dynamics compared to the MM counterparts its not even remotely close. ML MM carts sound like compressed remastered 16/44 and ML MC is like having Kevin Gray at 24/192 by comparison.

    The 440 smokes the 95ml IMO. Not close. Made up my mind to get a 540ml. Just a superior generator design.

    • @VladMX
      @VladMX  4 роки тому +1

      Jim Van Dyk - I agree with you, the 440/540 is a superior design with a better generator, the downside is that they also have a very high compliance, so they bounce a lot on records that are not perfectly flat. Vm95 series is a buget range, and i think it is an excellent product range for the money.

    AT440MLb creates better depths. in comparison, AT-VM95ML sounds just bland

  • @fuckinellitsraymo
    @fuckinellitsraymo 4 роки тому +1

    I have had both cartridges and through my Roksan Xerxes 20 both cartridges have cloudy diffuse bass with very little extension.
    The 95LML is a good tracker but the midrange is recessed and bland sounding plus treble is ok but not very detailed nor extended.
    The 440MLB...what can I say...... Thin, bright, vocals emotionless, and squashed dynamics.

      @@fuckinellitsraymo Thanks. I found a video comparing the MP-110 with a 440 on "Da Funk." Definitely see what you mean by "thin and bright" on the AT. I feel like the AT has a bit more detailed sound and the stereo separation seems better, but the 110 has that midrange presence and and it just has more "feeling" to it. Is the stereo separation on the 150 as good as the 440/540? If so I think I'm sold.

    AT440MLb has the edge but it's ever-so slight. Thank you for doing this. Now that the VM95 series is the newer model, and cheaper, it seems like a great choice. AT440MLb is so good though...wow. Do I hear a minuscule amount of siblance with the VM95ML?
