Bro i watched your EQ vocals video, ifollowed it, & my vocals still sound eh. Could i get some further help? I wanna learn how to mix & master efficiently so i could dominate my market in my city
Thanks for Helping Me Devvon! You have delivered once again. So glad I recently found your channel!! I must say you have the best approach with your mixing videos, it’s simple and to the point!
Great work on the vids. Advice for people starting out, avoid high and low cuts on absolutely everything. The idea with EQ is to fit everything together and modify space in your mix, glue it, seperate it, move it etc... use it specifically for the sound or vibe at hand. Avoid cutting tops and bottom to clean all the sounds up because it makes a mix sound clinical. Unless you want that.
I can’t tell you how much your tutorials matter! You have set me up all the way on my recording side now I m listening to you for my production side! The BEST teacher on UA-cam hands down!
You are the only producer/engineer tutorial guy that teaches me something new (and vital) in EVERY video. Impressive work my friend! Thanks for what you do!
I've been to an audio engineering school. S.A.E Institute in Manhattan NY. Graduated with above 3.7 GPA. Great student. Listen to me when I tell you that THIS DUDE IS FUCKING TRUTH!
Bro. This is what was missing. Now I understand all the hype and fuss that I've been seeing around VST plug-ins and you've helped me understand some important topics in music composition at the same time. Big help. Good looking out bro. God bless!
Great tutorials!! You bring another level of excitement to the creative and the technical sides of music production. The words you choose really encapsulate the vibe. Very inspiring. I’m sold and subscribed. Cheers!!!
More sauceeee with the phasing and multi-band stereo imaging 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Two points I think are important: 1. You definitely talked about mixing in context of other instruments such as the kick and 808. I think for the others watching this, it's important to also mix without the solo button on. It allows to mix live in context the mix as a whole and save you a lot of time in the long run. That being said, it's still important to do both soloing and full-mix context. 2. Loved your tip about multi-band stereo-imaging. When I use heavy sub basses/synth basses I like to keep it stereo and wide because it sounds very small going straight down the middle - even though I know this is frowned upon. Your video gave me an idea - using multi-band imaging to keep 200hz and below mono while making >200hz more stereo. Do you think this would work?
GREAT VID AS USUAL MAN!! These are fantastic for someone like myself who produces/mixes all my music. Mastering video soon please!! Super excited for that one and to see how you do it.
This is dope brother :) Please don't dissapear again...You left us hanging. I love how you make settle changes but at the end of the effect chain you can hear a huge difference :)
Help Me Devvon that's true bro :) I can't wait for the mastering video :) You are 85% close to the reference track just by mixing :) You have crazy ears for music. I knew you as singer but damn you can engineer as well. Thanks for sharing your talents with us :)
The GOAT is back! Devvon, how you like the Soundtoys plugins? I just purchased the whole bundle and I‘m blown away. This plus the analog UAD Bundle + Fab Filter Collection and you literally don’t need anything else.
Hey! Every now and then I'll notice people use two HP filters just like you did. Any reason as to why you wouldn't and didnt use just one to cut off all the frequencies you didnt want?
Hey bro make a video on from starting to end a step by step guide to make your song industry ready Giving details about how to start a song and how to end it which covers every essential details production , mixing vocals , mixing instruments and finally mastering... You are doing really great job...
stan creation so if you go to my channel you’ll see a playlist of the mix and master series. But i will work on a full out production to finished product
1st of all: Great content! These are finally tips I think I can follow and incorporate with immediate desirable results. 3 Questions 1. Do you start with a basic template or from scratch every time. If starting with basic template, can you share that somewhere even if just in a full resolution screenshot? 2. Ever mix in mono? From some tips, made sense to hone in on the levels/panning first and get everything sounding nice in mono then move to stereo mixing. 3. I think I heard you mention arrangement which is also critical along with sound/sample selection. What are your tips/sources in this critical area? Lastly: keep up the great work. I been at this for years but always humble enough to learn from anyone and everyone. Sometimes that's a good and bad thing lol. In this case, however, its gold.
I think that essentially the stereo widening he did on those two instruments achieved the effect of panning that he needed. Panning can sometimes make you feel like you've created space and separation but if someone listens to your track through a mono source (like a bluetooth speaker, laptop, most radios etc) then all that space is going to disappear. A tip that always helps me is to do all the EQing in mono and only reach for the pan pots at the end, if your mix sounds clear in mono it's even more satisfying when you add panning and you know that space will transfer to other speakers. Good luck with your tracks!

How about panning?
