    I absolutely love your explanation. I've been having such a hard time finding an InkScape tutorial that i can follow & bear to listen to. You have a great voice. I liked your video & i'm going to be following, subscribing, changing my notification settings to all and sharing w/ my many FB groups on how easy you make it to learn inkscape. Thanks!

    A SINCERE thanks for this particular video that finally helped me figure out why the white background was exporting along with transparent image. Once I reset the alpha channel it solved my problem. Thank you so much for posting!!

    For some reason, I'm missing something. I've changed the background to checkerboard and followed your instructions. The inkscape canvas is now checkered, but the box around my image is still white. I'm not sure what I'm missing.

      You likely have a solution by now, but, in v.1.3.2 hit:
      Document Properties
      Display tab
      select Checkerboard
      then you need to select the Page node to bring up the colour window - this is where you change the alpha.

    Thanks for this. I know that Alpha channels are all about transparency, but the fact that you've shown that the Alpha channel is BLACK on that sliding colour scale, explains EVERYTHING - 0 Alpha is totally transparent. Thanks again. BTW, I LOVE the new Inkscape. The whole layout, icons and general working environment is brilliant. Although I don't use Inkscape that much (I use Aff. Designer, Aff Photo and Pixelmator Pro), for years I used in on my PC. When I originally tried to use it on Mac, I just couldn't get it to work properly. Whatever they've done to it, I like the fact that I can now use it again on Mac.

    Thank you very much for detailed instructions! It was the Alpha Channel that I was missing. For some reason this video was showing pretty glitchy. I know it was my computer and not the video. Anyway, I was able to follow your directions without being able to see what you were doing. Thanks so much!!

    With the newer 1.2 version, there's no option for background color. How do you do this now?

    • @craftystax

      I don't see an option to set a background color for default, but you can set a background color in your document (File > Document Properties > Desk).

      If you're using a PNG file, you can trace the bitmap into a vector (Path > Trace Bitmap).

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there - if you want to add a second image into your Inkscape project, go to File > Import. It may take a few seconds but the second image will load in and you will have two images on your page. Hope that helps!

    Hi hoping you can help me.
    I've had this set for a while now after following your instructions BUT,after having some challenges with my PC, what happens now is that when I open up Inkscape the transparent background is still there,but, when I import anything,screen flashes, opens up another Inkscape page and the background isn't transparent anymore
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice so far and the same thing keeps happening. So I'm now unable to export a png with a transparent background.
    I'm in Windows 10 btw.
    Hope this makes sense😢

      Hey there - how are you importing the image? If you go "File > Open", that will open a second instance of Inkscape. You want to go to "File > Import" and that should open a new image in the same instance of Inkscape.

    Hi Crafty Stax, great videos, and thank you for your explanations, I am in need of making a default size of 3000x 4000px image in png for POD and export in 300dpi, is there any way to do that in inscape please, if that is not possible I normally use Canva for my designs so I like to then upload the image to Inkscape and then export it in 300 dpi and keep the image size of 3000x4000px, but I don't know how to, because nothing seems to work for me😫😪

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  3 роки тому

      Hi there - if you are using Inkscape, you can make your image larger. Use Ctrl-A to select all. And then hold Ctrl (control) key. Pick a corner and drag it out. This will make the entire image larger. You can also set the page in Inkscape to 3000x4000. Go to File > Document Properties and you can specify the exact dimensions for your page.

      @@craftystax Thanks for the reply, I watched the video and that's not exactly what I was looking for. Basically I have a logo that I cut out. in the logo there are spaces similar to how there are spaces in your splatter design, in between the red splats. I was wondering if there was a way to change the color of the space in between the main part of the design. I went filter>fill transparency> Fill background and now the space in between is red. Im not sure if that is the default color or if I messed with some settings and just don't know It. I'm new to Inkscape and your videos have helped me alot. Thank you.

    I guess this can not be done with TIFF files? 😭 Me and a friend are making a game and it's my first time making graphics like this and wow, there are so many problems like TIFF's not supporting transparent backgrounds. BOOOOO

    • @craftystax

      Yes a TIFF file is a high-quality image but it won't have a transparent background. There is a photo editor called Photopea that might be more helpful? ua-cam.com/video/WmcScNMDrGs/v-deo.html

      @@craftystax Haha thx but I was just thinking it would be nice to use TIFF graphics than PNG but honestly PNG's are really good and I originally though that they were extremely pixelated. Even so I can just make the canvas 5000 px big which is ridiculous but you could zoom in a bit. I was just completely underestimating the power of PNG's. I love PNG's now. Anyway, Inkscape has PNG export
