The C500 is a beautiful camera even for its age. The quality and organic grain that you get with the image is top class, I think the dynamic range could be a little better but either way if you protect those highlights well, you will be fine. The files size is a bit of a feat though, as with most recordors you can only shoot RAW and not the other flavours the C500 has to offer due to the Duel 3gsdi. I just shot a feature with this camera and ended up with over 14TB of data for it🥺🤔 But I will say though the image is sweet, It just requires a bit of rigging to make it the workhorse it can be. i just tried on my c500 and atomos shogun inferno. with c500 3g sdi out 3 to inferno 12g/3g sdi in 1, you can record prores hq 4k 422. i actually want to set up the raw recording. so i connect c500 3g sdi out 4 to inferno 3g sdi in 2 as dual sdi connection. although inferno can recognize the c500's sdi raw stream 23.98 p, but somehow inferno cannot choose to c dng or prores raw options, only prores hq as the default option. my inferno copy has the latest firmware, i think ver 9.1.13 something. suppose to be able to record raw. but i think even prores hq 4k 422 is pretty good for many cases.

Though I have to say shooting in RAW super is just not realistic, the files size i just huge and hard to work with. Apparently you can record BRAW now with a Blackmagic video Assist 12G. That could be a game changer. BRAW is such an easy file to work with.

@2:24 I think LTT was built off of the mass of content that little dude put out every day!! At one point he was doing 3 10 minute videos in a day. Then he reinvested most of the profits into hiring a large team to make even more videos. This was also when the YT algorithm changed to benefit creators who could put out multiple videos a day over 10 minutes in length. He was also not a Drama channel or a vlogger, while LMG just sold computer gear which is family friendly. Now he shoots YT videos with 12K cameras!! Who wants to see a review of a SSD 10 years from now?
@@ZXTech I've been experimenting with genres for my own YT channel so I've been watching the progress of LMG and others for years. I think the most important thing is to not get caught in the trap that you are chained to this channel for the rest of your life. Some channels die a long and painful death and the owner still chasing an audience that has moved on...., So many solo UA-camrs keep all the money and hire nobody because they become control freaks. Linus looks kind of burnt out to me and I wouldn't want to ruin something I love by putting myself under that kind of pressure. I know a million+ sub YT channel owner who went from living at home@16 to millionaire in a year..., he doesn't know how to deal with people or business because he has no life experience. Its kind of strange to see him now. Now he acts like e's like Gavin Bellson from the Tv series Silicon Valley....,
That's an interesting perspective! Don't worry, this channel if it ever "makes it big" will be a slow growth... I promise I won't be Gavin belson... But I do really want it to work out - I've been at it for 5 years with 265 videos, at which point do I say screw this and start over is the question!

I originally came to this video to see your impression of the C500 as I am looking at the C500 and the C300 MkII I think that there are so many tech channels and there is always room for more so I wish you well on your journey. I also see that you might want to try a few different things, like AB testing, and see what works for you. Do you speak another language? You might want to do videos in different languages and show your perspective from where you are (I assume you live in North America)but I might be wrong) Here are the common traits of tech and camera channels I observed: -They all talk very fast (PotatoJet is the fastest) -They shoot lots of slow-motion daytime exterior transitions with nice upbeat stock music -They make at least 3 or more changes in location in one video -They are always making top 5 or top ten tech product videos -they make quick 2 minute tips and tricks videos that last 10 minutes (ha) -They have a nice studio set with red and blue lled lights in the b.g. and a larger LED panel light in the shot at 5%power in the f.g. -they sell LUTS that only work best on expensive cameras like a C500 that they use -they review a large number of products so it hard not to sound like every other review of the same product.
-Then there are Channel Hosts that crack jokes (lots of double entendres) every 30 seconds (Kai) -The tattooed-up hipsters who drink (and sell) coffee while reviewing expensive gear -the pixel peepers who judge the best product based on specs alone -social commentators who use tech as a gateway to talk about what they really want -the 27 year old who looks 16 -the authoritative preacher that lets you know what's right and wrong (and why)
I've sold it since, but I loved it when I had it for 3 months. Excellent usability and the image is wonderfully organic and natural. You would want to record 4k 60 braw with a 12g recorder though for best results.

@@leroykincaide 4k60p max but Braw is so much more efficient. Theres some guy with a sample video on youtube, should be quite easy to find

No AF. I use Sony after cos I didnt like the C500's bulk and lack of AF for youtube

I've sold it since, but I loved it when I had it for 3 months. Excellent usability and the image is wonderfully organic and natural. You would want to record 4k 60 braw with a 12g recorder though for best results.
