Thanks Sephy! yeh, think we "dodged a bullet" with the severity of the stroke and quick(ish) recovery: OT think it'll be 2-3months before she's anything close to what she was before and were taking things slow.....👍
@@GrumpaLoz You have a good stroke and OT team at Fairfield - they treated my granny a few years ago and she's still fighting fit and will be 92 in a couple of weeks - so keep up your spirits and look forward to the many years ahead where you will still have to keep your wits about you explaining your tool purchases, even the mini ones that the Lidl demons pop into your basket when you only pop in for a pint of milk, to Nanna Sue! 😀
Thanks for the update Loz, fab to hear that Nana Sue's post-stroke mobility returned so quickly. As I understand it (!?) , that's a really good sign. Clearly she's made of stern stuff to have survived all the hospital infections too. Keep us posted mate, be it Nana Sue or kit or projects or whatever. Always love watching your stuff. Cheers. X
Thanks Swime.... yup, I thank we dodged a bullet with the recovery, there were lots of old ladies been on ward 5 for 3months+ and still in a worse state.... It'll take both of us some time to get into a new routine, but here's hoping....😀
Hiya Loz, glad Nana Sue is home, but sorry to hear she had a stroke and infections caught in hospital, keep up the good work and don't worry about us, look after yourself and Nana Sue. Take care now.
I need an explanation of “that’s the pennies” I googled it. I assumed a location with ocean weather but all of GB gets that. I thought maybe it was a figure of speech. Can’t figure it out. Will be great seeing the shop in its dress up form.
Hi FW! sorry about that.... its the sort of typo I'm known for... "Pennines".. the ridge of hills that runs up the centre of the North of England - very bleak moorland at its peaks.. all the bad weather blows in off the North Sea, across the Cheshire plains and then dumps the rain just below the tops on the Lancashire side!
Loz it’s so good to hear that Nana sue is home with a good care package I place. I can only imagine the stress and worry you have had. Really pleased to hear from you again, your looking well.😜 Be careful putting up that OSB, if you can get any help I’m sure it would be a big help . If I lived anywhere near you I would pop round and give you a hand. My commute might be a tad long. How many kidneys have you sold now ? Is it a world record 🤣 still all for a good cause. Take good care and see you soon Mark
Thanks for the kind thoughts mark (I know you would help if you could!)..."I'll be fine"🤣 ..and as to the state of Kidneys "Chez Grumpa" .... mine seem to grow back quite quickly - don't they! ( just done tell NanaSue 😏)
Good to hear from ya, Glad Nana is home. I gotta know what you traded a kidney for. Our weather has been pleasant and I can't wait for Spring to be able to do some more wood working projects. Take care.
Good to see you, Loz. I must say that you're looking very well for a chap that has just sold his 4th or 5th kidney!!! Still, I am glad you have got your priorities right.. I mean, who wants a kidney when you could have a shiny new bit of kit. Looking forward to seeing the workshop with its new coat on. Really glad to hear Nana sue is back home and is getting stronger. I told you a while ago I was going to build a shed in my backyard, but I had to put things on hold after I completed the base. I did not factor the sort of weight the thing would be(8ft x 16ft) the base alone was very heavy(4x2 wood, ply floor etc). I originally was building it on my patio, but just had this horrible thought of completing the build and the patio starting to give way. So I am having a concrete base put it to be 100% sure. So I am probably one of the few fools in history to build a shed base then dismantle it again. Ow well you live and learn. Anyway, looking forward to seeing you again when you're ready....... And my Stanley tape measure is still going strong.
well, ....apparently Kidneys grow back?..(I think I read that somewhere? 🤣... or was that tails?) "it'll be fine" Oh dear, I can't say anything I seem to be continually building benches only to dismantle them to build something else before they get any use! ..and I'm sure the shed will be all the better for waiting on a proper concrete base - all the best bud.
Hi Loz,firstly I'm glad Nana Sue is back home ,I swear most folk recovery is faster when they are home ,I've just picked up a pile of second hand 3x2 which I hope to make a second work bench ,take care hope to see you soon
Hi Loz. Glad to hear Nana Sue is recovering well and you're getting out into the shop. I'm still feeling the chill and don't really want to be working with hands that are cold enough to make mistakes with - the Aire Valley seems to be dragging wet and cold weather from Iceland! I have just repaired the broken leg of an Arts and Crafts Welsh spinning stool for a friend who inherited it as an heir loom. Enjoyable work and not too difficult. I repaired it well enough to be stable and ornamental but the leg was broken and badly repaired before so even with a deep dowel repair it's not too strong but then I put my shoes on to return it and sat on the stool without thinking to do my laces up! It survived, so maybe I did a better repair than I thought. I'm interested to see how much difference the insulated panels make to you when you get them done.
Yeh, the weather is just unremittingly cold, wet and miserable isn't it? 😒 Its a warm feeling you get when you patch up a much loved piece of family history and see the relief/appreciation on their faces.... I'm not expecting too much insulation from the panels- as I said- mainly to reduce the humidity and look more "woodworky" than red brick. a properly insulated dry lining would have taken a good 8"-12" off the overall inside width- space I can't afford to lose! expect regular updates....
Glad t hear Sue is home me and you are a right pair but our Sue’s come first don’t over do it Loz I’ve just ordered some new clamps Neilson type and a heavy duty gazebo for shed extension
Good to hear everything is going in the right direction for you I spent the weekend putting marmoleum on all the work tops in the shed . Great as it was free left overs from a job least week👍
@@GrumpaLoz sorry to hear that. Hope she’s feeling b the mend soon. Miss your Sunday waffles but appreciate you’ve more important things to concentrate on.
Don't kill yourself lifting the boards Mate it's always better to wait for someone to give you a hand, (don't do what I do do what I say, I'm impatient so it's OK for me to do it!) Best wishes my friend
yup, hence putting the supports in first..... although balancing a 4'x4' sheet on top of a ladder might be a different kettle of fish?!..... thanks Sparky! 😀👍
Hiya Loz.... Do hope there is steady progress... At least you have something to "take your mind off it" for a while as it does charge the batteries... honest. My daughter is on target for a good degree as she trains to be an OT (they are much needed). I have much in the way of experience re Pennines ... Keep it up now.. Bob (Westo super Mare)
