Beautiful..... tasteful red .. smooth your so spprecisted pal .... listen to the shuffle the band turns to and the harmony phrasing singingn is spot on too .... just tasteful journeymen with thousands of hours.. staying outa the way ...yet in tharrrr ..sooo in tbat sweet pocket guys love from nova scotia
You could tell Redd is blown away by the bass player's singing...Funny when I played bass full time I never sang. It's only when I went back to guitar that my voice started sounding 1/2 decent... My favorite bass I play is a white Jazz Bass like the one in this video.
Now that is a happening Airport. Enjoying the heck out of the steel heavy grouping. Jim was a fine player. I first saw him with Vasser Clements where he also played the hell out of a sax.
Now this is country! and if you say it ain't, you can kiss my hairy toilet! My Christ these guys are good! It's rare when you have this much strength in a band. That bass player is unfuckingreal. I'm going to be listening to that last song lots!l Absolutely schwingdinging!!!
Redd has a great band here. Not sure where he found this steel player, but this guy rocks. Its just ones of those moments where I look at my pedal steel and think, umm I'm going to be able to play like that when? I'll be deaf before I master those skills like that.
+SacredNaCl Big Jim Murphy was a long time Nashville steeler for many legends including Paycheck. So sad that he is no longer with us. We were great friends and I sure miss him.
I used to pick with Big Jim in our hometown of Jefferson City, MO prior to him packing up and heading for Nashville and working with all the greats. When Paycheck had his lounge in Printer's Alley in Nashville, and they were off the road for a while and picking there, I'd stop in when I was in town and sit in with the guys. He was a rare talent and is still missed by us who knew him.
A 15 yr old kid in1975 I met Jim a few times ' I was mowing lawns ' a friend/ customer Bob Huntley/ musician was friends with Jim ' Jim would visit him from time to time. Long story short ' Bob was a bad alcoholic ' lost his wife and family from playing out on the road's I was just learning back then ' we'd get together and play, the last time I saw Jim ' he told me ' you're young and you can go along ways ' he says ' don't never gamble , don't mess with women and then he looked over at Bob and said ' don't never drink or you will end up like that ' Bob just sat there with tears in his eyes ' Jim left and that was the last time I saw him. I didn't really know that much about him back then ' found out he played steel for Johnny Paycheck. Bob had a 1952 broadcaster that I got off him and I ended up getting a D-35 martin off Jim ' spent all my money I'd saved buying the martian along with trading him a Yamaha FG - 160 for it, said he needed the money to get back to Texas. He was kinda a rough looking fellow back then ' kinda scared me being a 15 yr old.
I’ve always wondered that??? I make a D chord and mute the B string with my skinny little finger on every pull off lick … not Redd. He’s crystal clean every time

The editor of the video name is Lewis Conway Jr aka Louie Fattz :)
great
Billy F Dee on bass
who is the bass player? He said he was doing a song off his album and I'd like to find it.
+Frank Speer I believe it is Dallas Wayne
+Frank Speer BD are the initials on his guitar strap. is it Billy Dee?
Nice steel playing. How can Redd do all that with those chubby fingers?
I’ve always wondered that??? I make a D chord and mute the B string with my skinny little finger on every pull off lick … not Redd. He’s crystal clean every time
Love the band but Redd needs to be turned up compared to everyone else. The steel just overpowers everyone else. Love me some Redd.
Looks like they didn’t even mic up Redd’s amp. Must have been a low budget and could only afford to use 5 channels on the airport PA.
Drummer is good
