Just came here after watching some great Marillion covers from Fleesh. Great production, superb talent. Brilliant even. But, no Derek Dick and Steve Rothery. Today, older Fish still recites these great, with age derived authority. Sadly his voice has lost most of its bravado and his tour musicians surely ain’t Marillion
Total class from beginning to end. Lucky enough to have seen them twice, Birmingham and Nottingham just before Fish left. Both fantastic nights, etched on the brain, thanks lads.
The man who could write, “when street lights throw crosses through window frames“ is on another level. Hogarth is fine and can sing, but Fish was a friggin’ poet. I mean, who thinks of “in the dancing beams of the Fidra lighthouse“. Makes me want to get on a plane to Turnhouse (without my luggage and all).
Arturo, all good.... has to be Jon Anderson. the voice of Yes . I haven't listened to ELP or Jethro for a long time .. thanks for reminding me .. Stay safe ..😀👍
" No Fish, no Marilion 😥 sugar mice, it's so sugar..one of the best emotional songs ever..love it, and my tears never ends..(original) Marillion best of..🤘
This song captures a period in my life perfectly. Such a lonely place I hope I never see it again Prayers/ strength to those going thru this now It can get better
I remember in my youth, going home in a cab, one early morning, from a night out. The driver was playing Marillion, script for a jesters tear. I was hooked right there! Thank you very much Mr. Driver. Hope the tips where adequate? And to you Mr. Fish, you, the romantic, the writer, the actor, the performer, the poet..., thank you for all those hours I spend listening to you and your bands music! ...(And I still do)
and NOW check out the new Marillion...not worse without the old Fish... i know what i am talking about, i was a Marillion fan from the first min ua-cam.com/video/DvbpKWV0G3E/v-deo.html
A time that unfortunately will not come back. A time when music said something, a time when music could connect people, a time that I was allowed to experience and that shaped me. A concert not to be forgotten, thanks Marillion, thanks Fish
Rothery rules and the lyrics and fish the way he sings it away is perfect ...it took me alot of years to understand it literally but it got me musically when i was 17
I'm 57 now and have been prog rock lover since I was 15... I know Marillion since their first album came out in the early 80's, but never acquired a taste for their music. Just a few days ago, one of my brothers had watch the full concert... When I first heard this song... Wow! It blew up my mind! It took me back to the early 70's when every day was a magical experiencing listening to new --or not-that-new--stuff by my prog rock gods. I cannot say I like Marillion a lot better than before, but this song is amazing! Everything in it is so beautiful. The guitar solo is wonderful, and Fish... He's a genius. Thanks, bro, for uploading this.
I used to have a bootleg cassette of when they played in Milwaukee later during this tour. He corrects himself that it wasn't inspired at the Holiday Inn, but at the Ramada Inn.
Just watched the "new" Marillion version. Not a patch on this! Long live Fish. He's pretty good as a solo artist as well. Check out his latest album A Feast of Consequences. Great stuff and does it brilliant live. Wish I'd seen Marillion before Fish left...
Still a Romantic,Dreamer and beliver in Great Music..Still playin´for the people that still believe in Love and Life. Thanks Marillion 5EVER !!! Life On !!!
Clutching grows and grows over the years. Those guys (only with Fish) had a very special chemistry. Saw them live in 85 and 87 and well, I am still impressed about those moving art they created!
I like Marillion with either Fish or H, but Clutching At Straws is definitely their best album. Never got to see them in the 80s, but finally in 2016 and 2018 in USA.
Steve Rothery proving that he is one of the greatest guitarists of his time. Squire strat made to sound better than a USA standard Fender Stratocaster.
I own a 89 Korean made Squier strat myself. Bought it in 1990. Haven't even needed to tune it for the last few years. Such an awesome Guitar. Those 80s Squiers were as good as American Fenders. Absolute beauties. Logo on a headstock doesn't mean much as long as the Guitar is great. There are so many unknown brands making excellent guitars. Besides Squier is one of worlds best known and sold guitars. Just that they are underrated, just like 80s or 90s Washburns or Peaveys or Hamers.

Steve Rothery....what a guitarist
One of greatest ballads ever.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ o
My favourite ballad of all time. Epic and no one sings it like Fish .
100% LEGEND 👌👌👌
He was the only one who could do this fusion.
I agree!!
Steve, the most underrated guitar man in the world......and he still is a great guitar man.....
Jest i będzie do śmierci dr best
Cos I know what I want, I know what I feel, I know what I am. Wow Fish hits those notes sublime. Coolest geezer ever.
I dont care who becomes the lead singer aint no one ever going to smash this song like fish this performance can stil bring a tear to my eye
Really true, maybe you can change a drummer, or guitar player but never the Voice of a band. Especially not when he has that signifecant voice.
@@gerhardjosef1941 A drummer or a guitarist can have their own voice on their instrument just as much as a singer.
They did it with journey and he doesn’t sound to bad

I'm not gay but damn you are right.
This is superb. Brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful vocals and guitar. Brilliant.

I love Marillion with both singers, but Marillion with Fish is the highest literature level!

Marillion only with Fish
Absolutely superb song, listening in 2022. Fish has that unique style and voice. Real Marillion is with Fish.

There is only one Marillion !!!! the original is and always will be the best... " FISH ", say no more....cheers from Scotland..
Agree 100 % from Argentina
Arturo, may I say you have great musical taste .😁👍
@@bobmck7301 Love Marillion Fish era. And Yes with Jon Anderson, Genesis, ELP, Jethro Tull, etc and Wolfstone too.

One of the most beautiful guitar solos you will ever hear. And the vocals. the vocals are on par with greatness.

I am a Fish fan not to keen on Steve!
@@johnskelton1117 and we are fans of Marillion no matter who is singer
Fish may not be the best singer in the world but it's a magical guy who will incarnate Marillion for the rest of my life.
i was there on 1987 it was my first concert it was so great
@Boondoggle realy what does it cost
One of my top groups you can't beat the fish days10/10 love it😀

i live near Loreley and this was my first and the best concert on the Loreley what i see
What a true and accurate account of the 80s . Love love this song. Fish is not holding back.... because he knows ❤️❤️
I'm one of the blessed guys who was there in 1987. 25 years old and just married, not knowing that it was one of my life Highlights.
Congratulations man 👌
Magnificent
Such a sentimental song. Has to be one of their best.
Was fortunate to see them four times, twice front row Misplaced Childhood tour, met them too. Am a Fish era fan. Great lads!
Darn. You’re a lucky dude.
I used to have a bootleg cassette of when they played in Milwaukee later during this tour. He corrects himself that it wasn't inspired at the Holiday Inn, but at the Ramada Inn.

Fish e Marillion foram feitos um para o outro. Great.
Just heartaching brilliance. Love from Glasgow UK.
The Fish fantastisk musikk fra en sørgelig barndom ❤️❤️❤️
unforgettable :-) One of the best ballads
Um dos solos de guitarra mais bonitos de se ouvir. Pena que essas rádios FM de merda não tocam. Nem a gente pedindo. Lamentavel .

Prime fish right here
Music today can't hold a candle to this
Music back then was all about music and good lyrics, touching your soul. Today it's all about good looks..
Fish, a gentle giant, ever!!!
That solo though .
One of the best I’ve ever heard
Niemand singt das wie Fish - ein Gigant. Was für ein Wahnsinsslied von Marillion
I was flicking through the channels on the TV
On a Sunday in Milwaukee in the rain
Trying to piece together conversations
Trying to find out where to lay the blame
But when it comes right down to it there's no use trying to pretend
For when it gets right down to it there's no one here that's left to blame
Blame it on me, you can blame it on me
We're just sugar mice in the rain
I heard Sinatra calling me through the floorboards
Where you pay a quarter for a partnership in rhyme
To the jukebox crying in the corner
While the waitress is counting out the time
For when it comes right down to it there's no use trying to pretend
For when it gets right down to it there's no one really left to blame
Blame it on me, you can blame it on me
We're just sugar mice in the rain
'Cause I know what I feel, know what I want I know what I am
Daddy took a raincheck
'Cause I know what I want, know what I feel I know what I need
Daddy took a raincheck, your daddy took a raincheck
Ain't no one in here that's left to blame but me
Blame it on me, blame it on me
Well the toughest thing that I ever did was talk to the kids on the phone
When I heard them asking questions I knew that you were all alone
Can't you understand that the government left me out of work
I just couldn't stand the looks on their faces saying, "What a jerk"
So if you want my address it's number one at the end of the bar
Where I sit with the broken angels clutching at straws and nursing our scars
Blame it on me, blame it on me,
Sugar mice in the rain, your daddy took a raincheck
