Maxed Out - Budget Anvil Review! Worth It?
Вставка

- In this video I put these budget anvils from Vevor to the test! I want to see if these cost effective anvils could withstand the pressures of blacksmithing. I can confidently say that either anvil would be a great starting point for any new smith as they start their forging journey, without breaking the bank.

Great video, I have the 60 Vevor. They made it possible to get a great product to get into the hobby without breaking the bank. I would not hesitate to purchase it again.
So well said!! It’s a great starter anvil for sure!
Very nice review, Thank you fro showing us the modifications to help improve the function.👍👍
Absolutely! So glad you enjoyed it Kyle!
That was great! I loved seeing you❤. So cool that you are sharing your enthusiasm 😀.
Thank you!! I really enjoy sharing blacksmithing with others!
Will I ever buy an anvil? Probably not. Did I watch this video start to finish so I could make a better decision if I do? Absolutely. Would 100% watch other craft related reviews! Really interesting content!
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it! Anything specific you’d like to reviewed?
@@Max_Randolph_Studios Maybe a series with the best starter tools similar to how this I do believe was more of a beginner anvil. I do trust your judgment on the matter and appreciate the frequent interaction we get with someone that loves their craft so much!
@@Yulweii I appreciate the feedback friend!
I have the 60# version and I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for taking to shows and moving around the portable shop. Once I get to where I can setup a permanent shop, I’ll get a bigger version. Thank you for the review
Oh I’m so glad it’s working for you!
Do you feel like the 60lbs one is sufficient for just making knives? I’m wanting to get into bladesmithing. I don’t really have any interest in making big swords or blades, just knives.
HI Max I have the small Vevor 30 anvil and over the last 4 years I have worked the day lites out of it , Saving now to buy the largest that have , Cheers from Australia , 👍🤠.
That’s fantastic!! I’m so glad you’ve gotten so much use out of it!
Excellent review, thank you, sir!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I've had this question myself, and I'm so glad you did this video. Thanks for sharing you knowledge and art
I’m glad you found it useful!

Good & Honest Review Mate. I’m now a Subscriber.
Thanks again for this Vid👍🍺🇦🇺
Thank you! Can’t wait to share more with you!!
Fantastic video! I've been playing around with the idea of giving blacksmithing a try but was a bit overwhelmed. This was super useful! Would love to see something similar for a forge setup.
I’m so glad this was useful! I try to encourage new smiths not to spend too much up front, you make a lot of your tools including a forge!
Started with a 6x6x2 drop of mild steel. My exes dad had a 125lb peter wright just wasting away in his barn. Been using it for years
What a great find!
Max I absolutely loved this video. It was very interesting and very informational video today. Very helpful video thank you so much. Hopefully ur will get great use out of them for many years to come my friend Max. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On weld On. Keep forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
So glad you enjoyed it my friend!
If Max says Vevor is a friend of mine, then Vevor is a friend of ours. Honestly though, you had that 160# hopping like a bunny running from Elmer Fudd during hunting season.
Hahaha!
Really liked this video. Would like to see more reviews from you. Nice work
So glad you like it! Anything specific you’d like to see reviewed?
@Max_Randolph_Studios I know zero about blacksmithing so I really appreciated you walking through some of the details about the anvil and adding context as to why that feature is important, why you need to remove the paint/round the edges etc.. I felt like I walked away having been entertained and having learned something. That all being said, reviews that are similar in nature. Reviews that give a peak behind the curtain to see how/what you think when you're going through your process of selection/creation.
@@dricedt Awesome! That's great feedback, I really appreciate it! I will try to get more content like this for you.
love this max! any chance you could do a video on forge setups??
Absolutely! I can do that!
I agree 100% with u on this. Anvils can be so expensive and thats why i made my anvil lol.
That’s fantastic!!
Harbor freight started selling one just like these. Great for a beginner.
That’s good to know!
I want to get the 132ibs one at some point it is the closest i will get to my dream anvil. I currently forge on a homemade 123ibs japanese style anvil. My dream anvil is a german PEDDINGHAUS. Thanks for sharing and godbless.
For the price it’s hard to beat!
That was a surprising quality for how cheap those are. You were wailing on that bar and not even a scratch in the anvil
I was surprised to! Both anvils really held up well, it’s a great price for what you get!
Been forging for a while now. But once I move I'm hoping to finally set up my own home Forge on a budget LOL. I do know some people who could hook me up with some deals but in case that can't happen just trying to find the best cheapies
Asking your people first is always a good idea! You never know what people have squirreled away!
The acciaio seem fairly decent. I mean, a few things I'd change on them but for the price no complaints. The only way to beat them for a starter is very good luck to get a used one cheap somehow.
Well said!
I'm not really happy about where they put the Pritchel hole and am quite sad they didn't build in a proper step.
It still looks like a good anvil for the money, though.
The price is right, for sure!
So is there any difference in anvils needed if someone mostly wanted to work copper vs iron? Can an avil be too hard or too large to work with a project?
Great question! There’s no hardness or style limitations you need to worry about between iron and copper work. The most important quality an anvil can have, is your access to one! 👍
Have you tried sanding off the rest of the paint because i have seen some blacksmiths do so and the anvils have cracks, chips and dents in under the thick paint. Ps could you do another video to see if this be true and the paint isn't there to hide anything.
How interesting! Now I have to!
How do i bend a 12mm x 40mm x 380.5mm i need to put two bends about 50mm apart and i don't have access to a torch i have a gas forge and a machinist vice on a chipboard bench I'm trying to bend to make a post vice bracket and im not to confident that i could forge weld three separate pieces of steel together and my stick welder would not cope with the thickness if i forge weld do i need to add additional material for shrinkage due to the welding process any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you
This is a great question, you can achieve a really nice and precise bend while using your gas forge. Mark the bend location, heat the area, then quickly cool the surrounding material with water, then make your nice crisp bend in your Vice. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the advice I'll give it a try
@@mattwyeth3156 Anytime my friend!
Hi Max, I’m a farrier getting into hot shoeing. I’m selling my anvil as it doesn’t have a round horn. I can’t quite tell from the pictures and videos. I’ve seen. Is this a true round horned anvil?
They are oval. All anvils are that way, it takes a bit of getting used to, to forge perfect circles on
Alright, soooooo this might not exactly pertain to blacksmithing, but I do have a question. What products do you use in your hair? I have pretty similar hair to yours and I've been having a bear of a time finding something that works well.
Oh I don’t use much! Wash it once a week with a shampoo bar, maybe a hair mask before, and a little curl cream after.
@@Max_Randolph_Studios Mind sharing what curl cream? It's been a beast finding one that controls fizz around the extra heat from forging. Truly appreciate the help!
@@TheGracefulWanderers I've been liking Curl Power from Lush - www.lush.com/us/en_us/p/curl-power-hair-cream
❤❤❤
👍👍👍👍
Just my personal opinion, the pritchpl placement is silly. Other than that, nice anvils .
It’s a funny spot right?
Fixed your mic I see
Same mic actually, just my iPhone on this one!
