    Middle of supply chain issues and everything else going on in the world and Polaris, not having to, gives us a 900cc twin, boosted trail and crossover sleds and a new 4 stroke…. Talk about keeping your foot on the gas!!!!! Pretty exciting release!!!

      i forgot about the release today and my buddy sent me a message asking me what polaris has been doing the last 2 years. and well my answer was the same thing as the rest of the world at home with to much time and with engineers like polaris has that both a great and bad combination at the same time and we all know polaris loves giving the rest of the industry the perverbial finger. coming out with a 2.0l sxs and now a 4 stroke snowmobile, tossing the boost into a category we never expected and a 900 factoy mod engine which is the best way to explain it because the only way to really mod it at this point is to throw a turbo on it and we all know they will do it at some point.

      While we're filming we take precautions such as closing off these sections of trails, using private property that we've been given access to and always have spotters at either end to stop any traffic. 2 stokes can’t boost like 4 strokes, the compression stroke on 4 stroke is key to make high PSI in combustion chamber. 2 strokes by natures are much simpler and not as ideal to make high pressure, very little time to boost combustion chamber once you pass exhaust port. None the less, still very cool to have a boosted 2 stroke trail sled!

    Who cares what the fastest machine is, when you have something turbocharged, you have something that you can bet will be on another level of performance. Any engine with forced induction will produce more power per litre. And altitude will not have any effect whatsoever. You can be sure you will have plenty of power throughout the operating range.

    Its hard to take people serious, now suddenly 20 pounds extra is no big deal. Thats pretty hilarious after all these years where Polaris has been hailed for shedding a few pounds. We have to remember that improved power to weight ratio is worthless, thats according to Polaris boys in comment sections, low weight is all that matters, no amount of power can make up for extra weight. Now all Polaris fans has to proclaim that Polaris is going out of business and that they are impossible to drive. You know, the same kind of crisis maximising that Yamaha has been victim to for many years, having the most power doesnt help. I didnt say it, just reminding those who been crying like babies over it, dont stop now.
    For the rest of us, its a good reminder that brand bashing is lame and how inconsequent the brand fanboys are. I admit i do the same, i believe that provocations is a good way to make fanboys see inside themselves. And why stop now, Hey guys, remember to mention that boost to the Yamaha driver who tows you home next time.

    The problem with saying fastest production sled is how fair can u make it? Sidewinder vs this, is the track length going to be the same percentage longer as the weight difference percentage? If u get both to dead hook somehow my guess is they would be close till about 50 mph then the torque of the four stroke is still going to pull away pretty good. 0-100 should be a few lengths. Jmo I’m sure I’m wrong. Looking forward to seeing the video of some drag racing, maybe bring in a Mach z too just because...👍

      @@pflaffik I'm not ignoring that at all. Even with the 2 stroke being 20 lbs heavier, the 4 stroke still outweighs it. And not by a little either.

    • @bieniek56
      @bieniek56 2 роки тому +2

      @@208SledHead yeah it actually is by a little. The 850NA is lighter than a sidewinder by about 60-80lbs So adding a 900 and a turbo to the deal brings you at about 40 lbs lighter than a 4 stroke. This isn't the early 2,000s, look up your facts on weight of a 4 stroke. The torque of a 4 stroke will pull your arms off from 0 till it tops out. Weight isn't a factor in this race.

    I'm amazed and disappointed that these "detailed" overviews never get really technical. I'd wager to say there are plenty of us gearheads out here that would love to see these sleds with their covers removed so we can see HOW they're put together, laid out and what looks to be strong or weak. Enough about the looks.

      Exactly as if we need faster sleds the trails are already full of broken off tree in just about every corner from to much speed already so give them a sled that can go 120 mph stock. But if people are willing to pay over 20k for a sled like this that probably wont last very long engine wise that's their money they are throwing away.

    Make sure you fill it up on gas before a lake run, or you're not going to make it back. This thing is a PIG on fuel. You're going to need the biggest spare gas can you can possibly fit on the back. Especially if you want to go any distance on a trail. For an idea you will get around 5 mpg on average. If you ride slowly you can see up to around 7-9 mpg. It can be as low as 3 mpg if you are hard on it.

Now that Polaris has a flatland turbo skidoo, almost for certain, will as well…. Not sure if they’ll go the 900cc route but they’ll definitely bring the turbo R to the trials now that it provides boost at sea level unlike the first iteration of their factory turbo…. Good times!! Expensive times, but good times!! Haha
