I’m glad someone agrees about Garnet having weak line reads sometimes. Even in some later episodes I got the vibe that Estelle’s heart wasn’t in it or that they just couldn’t be bothered to ask her to do a retake I think it really highlights how trained VAs need more praise and why certain roles being given to celebrity actors isn’t always a good decision. Just because you can act or sing does not mean those skills automatically translate to voice acting, it’s a unique field with a unique skillset but is rarely treated like one
@@Im4Goob1eSn0ob3rt I never realized how odd it was that they introduced a magic canon and then, after using it once, introduced three of them stuck together. But the trio didn't actually work on the hand ship, and it never does anything after that.
I think it's more along the lines of loneliness. Steven isn't really anxious because they're not there, he just sees so little of them he's desperate to get their attention
@@SourceMaster champion winnings for a small town would prolly only be a couple grand. But it’s not like the gems ever buy anything. So it would just stockpile
To give at least a LIGHT defence of why they didn’t confirm the gem dust on the scroll at the time, it wasn’t really put into perspective that all these magic artifacts and equipment are actually MADE from gems until Steven freed Lapis from the mirror, and we were intentionally not supposed to know at that point, as the show made a specific point to only give these sorts of revelations as Steven himself had them. By the time we find out that almost all of the “magical” artifacts are simply objects with gems embedded inside them, it should have sort of been implied by extension that this scroll was as well, and since its not visible, we can only really assume its built into the paper or the ink in some way, which implies being finely ground. So, it’s not really confirming canon outside the show, just clearing up what we could otherwise deduce but may not have.
3:43 see i think that was a thing they told him to keep him out of rose's room. i also dont agree with your point that there isnt anything dangerous in the temple. a lot of the environment wouldnt hurt him, yes, but there's still all of pearl's swords, whatever weapons and/or biohazards amethyst has in her room, and all the corrupted gems in the bubble room. all of that is quite dangerous, and knowing how steven was in season 1 its easy to see why they wouldnt want him around all of that
God man, the scroll is so completely unimportant to the story, there's nothing wrong with them explaining it outside of the show, there are different levels to Canon, that has always been the case, some things they just don't have time to explain.

0:55 Garnet is listening for the popcorn, because she was predicting that it was burning.
Season one had quite a few weird objects that don't really get an explanation. The scroll and the shooting star come to mind.
I hope I have something to say about the shooting star, but we know so little about it. Even the light cannon doesn't appear after season 1.
@@SourceMaster It appears in the episode before Jailbreak to fight the hand, actually three of them do

@@Im4Goob1eSn0ob3rtThat's still season 1.
6:00 dear God I never thought about how it screams. That's horrifying and hilarious
4:30 personally I'm under the belief that somewhere in Pearl's gem is a counterfeit dollar printer.
This episode also introduces Steven's separation anxiety.

Can’t believe you didn’t talk about Pearl seemingly being down to eat Pizza at the end of the episode.😂
😨 amethyst has money from her wrestler winnings
Ooh, is there good money in that? I hadn't considered it.

I’m personally here for the stool continuity.
Excited for the next one!

That scroll thing always confused me. Should've guessed its another Gem 731 experiment honestly.
