As an E5 in the Marine Corps. I would spend that 100 out of pocket to get off base. With the 2 bedrooms you can dedicate space for UA-cam and really work to grow your channel. Invest in yourself.
Base housing is not always the better option. Some bases/posts charge for your electric and you still have a standard to keep with the yard etc. Still under rules in base housing ... I would suggest off base apartment or house where you are free to do what you want! Base housing ... not always the safer option ... hummmm ... just check Fort Hood/Fort Cavezos for example. Plus there is petty crime around base housing.
If you have a garage, then your car is protected from the elements. Also you can run the risk of someone breaking into your car in the apartments. PLUS in base housing if you have issues with neighbors, they're all military. A quick call to BDOC or the 1st Sgt can fix that. With civilian apartments you're kinda off to fend for yourself.
Check with your insurance company and see if you can get a discount living on post. Here in Hawaii being in a 24/7 ‘gated community’ lessened the theft risk and lowered our rates.
I just binged watched all your videos prior to my big day and I forgot how much you been through! Now look at how great your doing! I'm so proud of you and proud you kept up with your vlogs, it has been a source of inspiration for me. So, looking back at all the hard work you put in all throughout and doing so well currently, do you get feelings of wanting to stay in at all?
Base housing is the worst. Trust me!! Ill give you one example just to give you an idea. I was stationed at mcguire afb in nj and im since from NYC, my family would come visit me often because of the close proximity. I had to sign them in everytime which is a pain in the you know what. Imagine hosting a cookout and every time a family member comes to the gate i have to stop everything and sign them on. But heres the best part my cousin who had a suspended license because of child support wasn't allowed on base. So just the inconvenience part about being on base blows. On and i forgot the part about when i got a ticket for my lawn years ago and my supervisor brought it up in my feedback (i was just a A1C). Just dont do it, your freedom, and extra savings is worth it. You will thank me later
The difference in price is not that great for you to choose an apartment versus base housing. Forfeit the $200, lesson learned. If you were married with kids, then that makes off base housing more lucrative. Take the base housing or buy a house and get roommates (which also has it pros and cons).
Apartment! You've been on base for this long. Getting an apartment let's you feel that you have a disconnect from work. Everyone needs a break from work. You'll be saving moving and get that sense of individuality from the military that most of us need. I mean no one place is all the way safe. Anddd you rent comes out of one pay check, your second pay check, you at least save that and still have enough money to spend how you want.
I'm gonna go a bit of a rant here so sorry in advance! so i would say buy a house if you're more of the entrepreneurial type. Buying a house renting out the other rooms to cover the mortgage and help you pocket some cash is a great move. This is typically referred to as "house hacking". This is a great way to lower cost of living or ( if the numbers are just right...) a way to generate extra income AND live rent/mortgage free. now with that said. I still remember when i was able to live on my own for the first time...there's nothing...NOTHING like having your own!!! i promise you you'll probably discover how much of a hermit you can be when you're living on your own and you'll love every minute of it lmao. All the privacy you'll ever need. Decorating to your tastes. No roomates eating all of your hot pockets!! (sorry that's my trauma talking) but you get the point! you're in a win-win situation but you GOTTA enjoy the feeling of being on your own you won't regret it!
I'm sure you know it's not just about owning a house ... along with a house purchase comes ... taxes ... and depending where you are ... 5 -10k ... research all of that before buying a house.
Try not to get a house within 5 miles of the gates. Those areas are usually the worst to live ... either jacked up prices or bad neighborhood. Ask around from people who actually live in the apartment you want to go to. Don't go by 'well 1sgt said it was a good area and all the Airmen live there ' ... ummm no. Make sure you find somewhere that has a washer and dryer. Running to a laundromat is gonna get old real quick. Also you want the washer dryer in the apartment. Dont be all happy that they have two or three laundromats on site. Usually 2 or so machines are not working. When you check the apartment ... look up and look close! Make sure no water marks on ceiling! Try to get the top level in an apartment ... people walking at all hours is not what you want! If you get a house ... see if they will cut the yard and are utilities included. ... Girl you got this ... once you move out its a whole different world to the dorms (so my Airman daughter says!). Yes you are under pressure to find an apartment quick ... but don't run into the first one you see ... or the one the realtor is pushing on you. Take your time and good luck ... its going to be great getting out the dorms! 🏡 P.S. Also in the apartment as an added pro you also get BAS added.

Lmaoooo I remember I watched you right before I joined now I’m currently stations at cannon AFB lol nice to see your still doing good 😊
Sounds like base housing is the obvious choice.
Base housing;everything's new/ safer/ and no need to have to repair the apt. More room for family visits. ❤

Your vids definitely have helped me on my journey being in the military
Go base no obligations, free room for whatever, do some extra work to gain some more money if needed. And your safety is the most valuable

Base housing and make videos on turning your second bedroom into a UA-cam studio/ office
Base housing!
Base housing! Newer, safer…more space. Use the extra bedroom as your content room and make more videos to earn money for your saving.

Base housing sounds like it’s more of what you’re looking for just by watching the video it seems you’re ready for you own privacy
Base housing for sure!!
Those who have lived on base/post will say runnnnnn don't do it! It all depends which base housing you get too ... Duplex ... nooooo
Its nice to have options 🎉 also sounds like you are getting out when your contract is up.
Base Housing all the way👍
