This is a review of two sodium alginate kits, including a remake of the one I tried last year. The new kit from Banggood worked much better, and I suspect it was due to the thicker gel consistency. The aquarium kit had some amazing attention to detail, though it's clearly aimed at kids. I wasn't a huge fan of the bright, crayon colours although I did love the little wonky creatures you produce in the end. I feel the Banggood kit is more universal, and even as an adult you can have a lot of fun experimenting with different designs. The transparent gel lets you incorporate glitter or sprinkles, which I explored in detail for my Halloween video here ( • HALLOWEEN WATER EGG PO... ).

i like how you really go in depth into the chemistry in these simple kits. it makes your content stand out from the usual online stuff reviews XD
Just some fun science for you, adding the salt to the water means that both the inside and outside of the water charms are isotonic and have the same osmotic pressure. This means that there is no diffusion of water out of or into the creatures helping maintain their full shapes for longer

I personally like how the first kit looked and how transparency it was with it oozing out was cool.
I also like the 2 kit just from how funky everything became and it would be interesting in person to feel especially if your new or the textures it has.

I'm interested in this kit for "cat tv"! I've shopped for things using this water jet method for decoration before but they've been prohibitively expensive. The top almost looks like like it was specifically designed for a cat to be able to fish a paw in (although you'd need to use lightweight cat toys and not a water charm that might not be cat-safe). Cute!

Since the Chinese kit had transparent gel, and the aquarium had lights, I think you could even mix and match to get some cool effects!
Can you use clear putty for clear clay cracking or do a normal clay cracking but keep adding clay on top then nail polish
