The Reconquista - Part 3 History of Navarre
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 січ 2019
- The struggle between Christian and Muslim states of the Iberian peninsula continue. The great Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba crumbles and gives the Reconquista a chance to go from the defensive to the offensive. In the Northeastern portion of the peninsula, the Kingdom of Pamplona comes into being under her shrewd King, Sancho III. In time she will become the Kingdom of Navarre and will add her own chapter to the war of reconquest.

Sorry to confuse everyone - had to re-release this video, found an error that my OCD forced me to fix. Happy New Years people!! 2018 was an amazing year for this channel!! 500 to over 11k subscribers!! Do me a favor, if you like the content, please spread word and share on social media. Lets make 2019 fantastic as well! All the best to everyone!
I spelled Sancho as Sanco. @Brythonic
I always do share your superb productions. Thanks!
Always appreciated !!
Concise and direct. Just what I needed on the topic. Good on you!
Im getting addicted to this channel, hardly a day passes by without me watching one or two of your videos
Nice - Im so happy that you are so engaged to my content =)
You do a very good job, I must say as a historian. Nicely balanced tone, facts and music
Navarre couldn't expand further and stopped being involved in the Reconquista, as Castile and Aragon conquered the lands south of Navarre and Navarre could only attack the now bigger Christian states. That's why in the 13th century they closed ties with France and the counties of the Pyrenees, until Spain conquered Navarre (not Lower Navarre in the other side of the Pyrenees) in the early 16th century.
Great video Nitin!
Navarre become a minor player later in the Reconquista - but under Sancho III it did have its moment in the spotlight. Plus his children would go on to become Kings of Castile and Aragon - which would be major players down the road. I’m happy you liked the video - I save these clips so when you launch your podcast episode on this time period I can help you create another launch video if you like
¡Que Viva El Reino de Pamplona y Navarre Para Siempre y Que Viva La gente de Norte España y Norte Nueva México Tambien! ¡Que Viva!
Voice volume is perfect!
Ha! Nice! I had my wife listen to it without the headphones and she concurred
This channel deserves many more subscribers and views
I could not agree with you more!
my surname is Navarro and that means "person from Navarre". This was pretty cool to learn about, I wonder if my ancestors came from this kingdom
The mountainous terrain of Navarre meant that the people who lived there were very isolated - studies show that the DNA of people that hail from Navarre is also isolated. Have you ever done one of those DNA tests?
@@FlashPointHx i have not
My last name is navarro my great grandpa told me this is where our family was from before they moved over to Mexico
@@jujuboxing31 Its a very beautiful part of Spain
My father had some genealogy done and found that we are direct descendants of Henry IV. Or so I’ve been told.
Excellent job! This is by far one of the best series on the Reconquista available on UA-cam, and you're just warming up!
Hey thanks!! Yeah - I'm learning this video editing program as I go.
The first Arellano came from this place, I'm here to learn about Navarre Spain. Maybe one day I go visit.
Mario ArellanoIm Garcia Arellano
Previously on the Reconquista...Its good that you added that part in the beginning! keep it up
Good feedback, thanks! Didn’t know if people would like that recap
The video quality gets better and better!
Totally lucked out and found a great photographer who was a native of Navarre
Well I am back and it is still great!
Yeah!! Good to have you back! And I’m happy you liked it !
More and more.... very well done. +

Good video.
I’ve learned something of my families history.
Glad you enjoyed it
Basque here. Nice video!
Welcome! I would love to travel to your area - the mountains look amazing and I'm sure there are some great hiking trails there
@@FlashPointHx you are very welcome!! And don't forget the food hahaha
The Animations look stunning!
Thank you!
@@FlashPointHx Can you tell me the name of the program used?
I create a bunch of images and maps on PowerPoint and then animate them with a program called Apple Motion. Not as flashy as premiere or after effects - but also a fraction of the cost and IMHO still a powerful program.
Kings of navarre were mixed with all European royalty, My ancestors were kings of Navarre, and when i did my family tree i arealized that i was having as ancestors the Kings of France, England, Leon...btw i am not an Aristocrat, just a descendant as i guess many other are.
Great music.
I've seen a lot of your comments today - thank you!
Will you be doing a video component to your Attila the Hun series? Also I thought it would be awesome if you could do a video on Trajan! Since you've done the Punic wars and now Islamic Spain it would be cool to see a video on the first Spanish emperor who was also responsible for Rome at it's greatest extent!
Trajan was impressive - I remember seeing his column in Rome. Don’t think I’ll have time for either Trajan or Attila - but might start something with Rommel. If I can figure out how to get my kiddo to take more frequent naps :)
👑RÍOS FAMILY 👑 it refers to the ROYAL HOUSE OF ASTURIAS where the RÍOS👑 last name most likely originated from.👑
Good work. Nice videos. Do you Will speak of Portugal and Afonso Henriques?
Yes!! Absolutely, the rise of Portugal is one of my favorite stories. Still need to find some video of Portugal however
In UA-cam , dont have many informaçion or litle in English. About Afonso Henriques, and is live is to important, because if he didnt exist, i dont believe that Portugal Will exist. You have to made a video like this of Navarra, and check informaçion in Portugal history sites. I can tell you that his live is só amasing that give a históric série.
The next video is of Castile and after that will be Portugal. Like I said, if you or anyone you know has video or pictures of Portugal I could use them for the video.
Portugal and Spain have the same blod , religion and similar culture, language and history. But they are centuries apart and creat diferente nacionalites identies. The portugueses are Spanish teoricaly, but they se Spain as castille. And the Spanish dont know the portugueses people
Enjoyed your video featuring navarre, I'm a direct dependent of the great king sancho ramirez de arellano the 3rd. El CID married a ramirez de arellano, king richard the lion heart married beregaria ramirez de Arellano. Cortez and Pizzaro both married ramirez women. The first European settlers in calif. In 1775 included manuel ramirez de arellano.
I'm really happy that you liked my video! I had a really fun time creating this one on Navarre. I even got into contact with one of your countrymen who lives near the Pyrenees to use his video footage. Makes me really want to get out there and visit the area!
Sure budy. Youre. 1/3000th related 👏
Do you do a video regarding the construction of Notre Dame? Please
my buddy at the invicta channel beat me to it
i like
Is this the music from 0a.d.?
Yes - some of it
Could you mention a little more about the causes of the collapse of the Caliphate? I wonder how things turned so sour for them
Jose - Happy you like my content. Note that this is episode 9. If you go back to episode 5 I have an entire episode dedicated to Abd Al Rahman III and the collapse of the Caliphate
Can you specify the fix?
I spelled Sancho as Sanco - I cringed when I saw that. No more publishing videos late at night
Subtitles please.
I wonder why they never talk about Galindo the wicked
Video starts at 1:17
El Cid had no choice.
💔💔
Why reupload?
Spelling mistake and UA-cam wouldn’t let me simply load up another file. I’m sorry my friend, you lost your ‘first’ spot
@@FlashPointHx 😅 don't say that
Next time i WILL be First
@@FlashPointHx also i am not a robot I MUST sleep at least 6 hours and don't you dare upload during these 6 hours 😊
@@FlashPointHx i guess this doesn't apply to your mistake, but you can edit a few things with no need of reuploading. For instance I cut some parts in one of my videos
Yeah you can increase and decrease the length of the video - but I wish UA-cam gave you the option to just upload another media file for the video itself and preserve your stats and comments
I have Conquistador blood in me!
The Basque kingdom of Navarre indeed !
The Basque have a proud tradition of picking fights with biggers guys
And somehow they managed to survive that - you have to give them credit for that
@@FlashPointHx of course i give them credit my family from my father side are basque (i'm from chile)
i'm proud to continue the tradition with the same rate of succes s
Don't confuse Navarre with basques, basques were castilians and navarrese were navarreses, navarreses were vascones, and basques (vascos) are celtic people mostly culturally vasconized or mixed, vascongados, is not the same.
@@m.l.7929 Hahahahahaha you are just a troll
LOL, "Game of Thrones on steroids." hahaha!
Great video overall, just one small note: navarrese and basque people, altough culturally similar, were not the same. It's not really accurate to refer to the Kingdoms of Pamplona/Navarra as basque.
Much of the land that Navarre ruled over was still basque and its pretty much the closest to a basque state to have existed
Keep telling yourself that
Basque Territory was never conquered 💯👍
SANCHO?? Bastard lives with me ex Wife Bless the Bugger
;) Mucho Gracias Hombre
somehow you have tried to turn the reconquering of ones ancestral homeland, into a lecture on white man bad exploitation
Now I am asking myself how a Christian navarrese princess could marry a Muslim. I imagine she had to convert.
Likely a political move as well .
What a vast different between Muslims conqueror, which bring peace and development to all people versus "Spanish Inquisition"....?
A bug in your 0.0000001b propaganda version.
Imagine being some moro being chased by the ETA
Kings and Generals is better researched and more objective
I don't know if their more concerned with being objective than just trying to appease their audience. I was watching a video about Alexander the great where they mentioned Macedonia has a mixed Greek and Slavic culture. Why would you talk about Slavs when they come much later in history and have nothing to do with Alexander the great? They're videos are still alright but I'm bothered by the fact that they are becoming more like TV history. I prefer channels like Flashpoint History where it consists of small teams making videos out of passion for history rather than monetary gain.
