I just bought my first mower a hustler fast track . And im going to have to trade in back in . Ive had 2 back operations and that hustler is really painfull to ride . Im considering getting a stand up zero turn . Im really glad i watched your vid . Thanks dude
I personal own 5 stand one and 5 sits. I prefer the sits especially the Wrights and I own a Hustler Super S and Scag Vride. hustler cuts well and moves fine but don’t like how heavy the deck is and how awkward it is to lock it in place. Also the muffler doesn’t have an extra support plus the clutch sits on a jack shaft and not the engine shaft. Hassle to change throttle cable and the choke cable Vride- no real complaints, deck just gets heavier and heavier as time moves on and you have to basically remove the clutch in order to change the drive belt. Wright X- nice mower comparable to the other standers except smaller rim size, engine moves with the deck so better for the belt. Deck is easy to lift and lower. Moves at like 9.5 MPH and cuts fine. Wright ZK- 13 mph 72 cut. Biggest and most powerful stand ons you can buy. Love these mowers. I’m buying all Wrights from now on and that’s mostly because of how personal the CEO ED Wright is and his traveling marketer Judith are.
Wally, You are so correct about the sit on versus the stand on mowers. After 20 plus years in mowing and turf maintenance starting with Michigan State University my back is also trashed. The sit-on mowers will screw up your Lumbar but the jarring can and will cause other internal injuries as well. It wasn't until mowing in Georgia for Austin Outdoor Landscaping did I finally realize the difference and why I was hurting so bad. Now that I mow for my own I really wish I could afford a stand on. It made a difference in how my days ended and nights without pain felt great. However, I'm stuck for now with a sit-on 46" Cub Cadet for my lawn. Man, I'm glad to know it wasn't just me.
I had the same problem with back pain that goes from your right butt cheek all the way down your leg! Using a combination of 90min deep tissue massage twice a month and using mostly a stander to mow helps so much! The problem with standers for me is hand and feet fatigue but, finding the right shoes and replacing them often (at least 3 times a year)has also helped.
500hrs on my walker, 1000s of hrs on push mowers, 30 hrs on my standeri just got 3 weeks ago. Never going back, this has been THE MOST FUN, THE MOST PRODUCTIVE AND THE MOST PAIN FREE 30hrs of mowing ive ever done!
Great video, Wally! Started my first full time season last year with the 36” pro stance and picked up the new 52” this year. You were spot on regarding productivity and comfort level with the stand ons. For me I feel more productive if I’m standing opposed to sitting. If something needs to be picked up or a gate unlocked or open, I can typically do it while on the more. Gravely Pro Stance all day!
Wiggy Wiggy Wally!!! NEVER forgot you Bro., I need to get over here more & show you love!! But, you're forever in my heart Cuzzy!! So many beautiful Ranchers in that one subdivision. All da properties are lookin so super fresh Bud!! I hear sdo many good things about those Gravely's. We don't have a large dealer presence up here & they are def. better for warm weather grass. Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
Went from an exmark/toro lazerZ (52") and NOW have an extra 2' of room with a 6.5' x 12' enclosed trailer in the back with twice the grass shredding power with the wright zk 37/61" and the 36" walk behind up front, 2nd) point is definitely picking up right of ways (even without a grapple) is 20x more easy to toss to the trash bag, 3rd) definitely better on the slope. 4th) is the ease on creating up tighter than sit downs I've noticed . Great content wally, oh, and when your legs and buttocks are warmed up you got to learn to start stretching out your hamstrings and buttocks muscles, there's a host of what ACTUALLY causes sciatica,& one MAIN factor they find is it's NOT Actually the nerve itself but it's that tendon/muscle that goes OVER said nerve and when it tightens it pressures the nerve , it's the muscle that if you lye down - one leg straight stretching leg crossed over and 90° at bent leg knee, it's the muscle you'll feel as you draw in for the 30sec hold stretch (warmed up, 3 - 4 x ea. Side and stretch those Ham's same. It's a Necessity for working men and NEVER NEVER lean out passed the plane of perpendicular to straight up , I use a square boat cushion and drop it to ground and "one knee" (watch "Bob and Brad Physical therapy" ) this biz REQUIRES you to be upright . 🤘
That's right on but most people don't get that, the nerve is the end result of said muscle and or tendon tightening and tension and when it presses the nerve it's bad. Burning sensation and numbing toes
I use a pick or grab stick and container to pick up trash on my ZTR's. No need to get up, disengage blades, not even move levers. Can't do that on stander or walk behind, too long of a reach. I also just got a contract to cut four manufacturing facilities due to the previous contractor not being able to mow the steep slopes at one facility using the Pro Stance🙁. Both my 329B Grasshoppers and Turf Tiger will gobble up those slopes no problem. My 329 Grasshopper is almost as short as most standers. In fact, it is just as short as that big Toro stander. I like your channel BTW. Just subbed 🤜🤛
Thanks bro!! Well I usually have home made magnetic trash cans sitting in the decks. I use a trash grabber from northern tool it always seems perfect in length haven't had to stretch so far. Sounds like your slopes are stealer than what we get here so that added planted weight of a sit down comes in handy!
I keep wanting to pull the trigger on a stand on but my lawn care is a side hustle and my main job is being a pipeline worker and after working 8-12 hours all day in the Alabama summer it’s hard to want to stand for another 3-4 hours. If I do finally get one it’ll definitely be a gravely now that I have local dealer.
Nice video. I have been liking my stand on mowers more and more. My walk behind works the best for me on the few really steep hills I have. It is still nice to be able to sit down when u have a wide open area to mow though. #justmowbro
I do have questions for everyone who used stand-on mowers: When mowing all day long, does your knees not hurt at the end of the day? Also in the long run, when you are doing the same mowing all day every day do you not feel it later on in life having to experience knee problems? I’ve asked couple people here and they tell me to never get a stand-on mower
No knee pain, the platforms have great suspension. Learning to use your knees with the suspension is great. But yeah too much of anything gets tiring. But stand on is the least painful and exhausting
@@beachriverlandscapes I have zero pain after standing, I have some back pain after sitting. It gets tiring to sit all day or stand all day and will wear on your body over time no matter what you do. As far as comfort goes for me personally, I might have to give it to the stand on honestly. I'm only 26 years old so that might not be the same for everyone. I was skeptical buying a stand on for the first time but once you demo or buy your first, you'll understand why everyone is jumping on the train. They're absolutely amazing. Only time a sit down might be better is if you mow flat open acreage. The stander absolutely kills at everything else.
What's up brother, very nice video! I have demoed 3 stand-ons and all have been impressive. Badboy Revolt 54, Scag VRide II 52, and JD Quiktrak 652R 52. One thing i have noticed with all standons it seems the all go to the smaller tires, either width or height. I feel they should design them to handle bigger tires in some cases. My ZTrak has the 24x12x12s, where as the Scag was 24x9.5x12, the Badboy I think was 23x9x10 and the JD was 18x8.5-10 (tweels). All 3 cut very well and were very comfortable, the tire thing just gets me for some reason. oh, and JD needs to hurry up and put the 7iron deck on the Quiktrak! Great video brother, keep up the good work! Let me know what you think about the smaller tires, i feel it would go even further in making the handling even better all around?
I agree I wish they had wider tire on them the gravity design is what I understand dictates the width of the tire. I feel it mainly helps at angles and zero turning but they do handle and perform great so not such a worry
Test out a Ferris 800 with full independent suspension, or a Ferris 2100 or the new 2200 (all zero turns). If that is not enough comfort for you, add a high end suspension seat. I run Ferris commercially on a lot of big rough properties and love them.
im in a weird position. i love using standers but i got flat feet and my feet killing me at the end of the day. zero turn wise i hate having to stop and get off to pick up trash but the ferris 2100 i have suspension makes my back feel great at the end of the day even with 2 herniated discs. i say both types of mowers are great depending on application
Grab stick for trash. They call it something different, though...well they call it 10 different things on Amazon 😄 "Grab stick" works for searches, though. They're great for sitdowns, and I would think they'd come in handy for stander users too.
standers are too slow and cant lift deck quickly enough. I have lift bars on both feet and ride with feet on them constantly. they are for "unexpected" obstacles because fight or flight triggers nerves in legs first. Front and rear tires are set at 6psi and that keeps soft ride with traction to drives despite uneven terrain as well as dispersing weight over sprinkler heads etc. My hustler super z's are just as compact as most standers. Its not until the xr7 and vx4 decks that things got stretched out. That was for cut quality but I found a way around that. With skill you never have to get off a sit down until you are ready for trimming or blowing and then you address things you had to skillfully move around.
Bro I’m in a tight spot. I WANT to upgrade to a stand on but my husky hasn’t even got 100 hrs yet. Depending on how the rest of the year goes I may get one at the end of this year.

Great video man! I just picked up my new Grandstand 48" last week and am loving it! So much better than my old sit down ZT in many ways

Either will hurt something over time. Sit down is hard on back, stand on hard on legs, whether it be knees, ankles, whatever.

U tried Ferris z3? Excellent unit
Yes and they r badass mowers

True, the pro stance has a deck assist foot arm that works as fast on the fly as a foot pedal on the Scag or hustlers I've had
so you ride around like a pink flamingo with only one leg to support/stabilize the torso. not for me. does that leg also run the grass flap?
New intro graphics, nice. I'm surprised you didn't put any of your music on there.
