If I were the designer I would extend the roof line back to a meter beyond the rear of the cockpit and extend it forward a couple of feet. This would allow more area for solar panels for a hybrid drive. The aft extension would provide a lifting point for the tender. A couple of fold down sugar scoops aft would help with loading from the tender. A couple of forward opening windows would really help with ventilation.

I would have wanted solar panels on the top so that I could use the hotel load at night and not run the generator at night. Also for silent cruising when necessary

Range and seaworthiness are the two most important things to me and this boat seems to have them covered in spades. She also looks comfortable and I know a million pounds is not to be sneezed at but in today's world, that is an amazing price for what you get.

myself, aft deck needs hard top extending/bimini, the bow needs hand rails across from starboard to port. and handrails need more height.

I agree with another commenter about extending the hardtop fore and aft by a few feet to give room for solar panels. I'd be willing to give up a bit of speed (if needed) for a hybrid system similar to what Silent builds. Not too sure about how much of a battery bank it could hold though and still have a decent amount of storage space for consumables. edit: I see on their website that it IS available as a hybrid or electric as well. What I didn't see were numbers for either beam or air-draft. I also like the idea of fold down sugar scoops/swim platforms.

They show a rendering of her in high latitudes. Catamarans aren't really suited for them but they're great in low latitudes. The reason is the amount of surface area exposed to the weather. They are very difficult to heat simply because of their surface area radiating it away. Also there have been a lot of catamarans recently wrenching themselves apart due to leveraged stress between the Hulls. I would love to "explore" the Bahamas or Tahiti in one but Alaska? Not so much.

Not sure what I think 🤔
I like the range, the looks etc.
But the interior fit looks like it’s been a backyard build. Looks kinda tight for a 47 foot boat too.
No swim platform 🤯 or sugar scoops.
Looks like a vast amount of wasted space behind those engines. Shaft drives are often under beds etc but it does look like it has a very shallow draft which might limit that.
    No davits?
    No solar?
I know I sound like a negative Nancy, but I’m just confused.
Price and range are great though

Keep in mind that this is hull #1 and that an owner can opt for quite a bit of customisation etc and most of the points you raised can be addressed between the builder and an owner. Thanks for watching 🙌

No sugar scoops for longer hull line and better water access. Also I would want enough solar to carry the hotel loads, so no fuel used while at anchor and silent nights.

I agree with another commenter, range and sea worthiness are extremely important. The fact she is made of aluminum means to me if I desire a thicker hull plating it can be easily done, with a recyclable material. No fly bridge is great, I live in a northern climate, and honestly have no use for one. Beautiful considering she is 47 feet… and the price makes it worth a serious look. Happy boating…

Looks awesome. Fridge/freezer space, dishwasher, laundry and is that TV movable? Also, what is the draft on that? How would it handle rough conditions at sea in say 3 meter or more waves? Obviously those are some heavy seas and would not be pleasant to cruise in, but anyone who has ever been out to sea knows..sometimes things just pop up.

Fantastic yacht! A few observations that I'm sure can be remedied easily. First of all, it needs solar! That roof is ideal for a large system. Secondly, it needs a BBQ station somewhere on the back. It also needs a washer/dryer combination if you're going on an excursion. The shower needs a door. Other than that, I think it's a winner. No doubt it can be customized to fit any owner's desires.

When I think explorer yacht I think toys.i don't know where your supposed to store your tender. Personally I want a PWC. While a low air draft is nice those nav lights are really low and aren't going to be visible from any distance in rough seas.

This one is an absolute beauty. And there aren't many recreational power cats with this kind of range. Reasonable people can disagree, but I don't think
any yacht with less than 4000 nm range could legitimately be called an explorer. 7000 nm puts a boat in the global explorer range, that can truly take
one anywhere! And I'm generally partial to cats; you get the benefits of inherent stability along with loads more space to play with. I was expecting
the price to be a LOT more than $1.25 million. 😉

    Some comments:
    - there’s a door at the port side of the cockpit: what is behind it?
    - there’s a lack of sea interaction and I don’t see where the dinghy will be stored: a high low platform would be welcomed
    - the salon internal distribution could be improved, maybe using the area occupied by the forward facing siting besides the captain chair. A high low table for dining would be useful, as a large fridge/freezer combo, essential to any long range explorer
    - I’d prefer to have the cockpit fully covered and “encloseable”
I understand that the project is not completely finished, but I don’t see a family of 4 spending a full month on board as it is.
Other than that it seems that the overall quality is superb.

She's a very cool boat, John!! I love her lines, Stem to Stern there are no bad angles to her. I can see some serious fishing off the cockpit, might be an idea to have a couple of folding fishing chairs somewhere close to hand. Is there a lazarette in line with the engine compartment? Also, how is she fitted for fridge and freezer space for long travels, and I have to say I Love that she has a proper range for an explorer catamaran!! My apologies for being gone the past few days, I was out setting up our Wall tent, scouting for Moose and Elk and setting up tree stands and trail cameras for this years archery season and later for rifles. I see you've been a busy lad, which is great it gives me something to watch this weekend. Cheers, my friend!! - Dave

Maybe raise the bridge a couple of steps up with shades around it down low to block the cabin light and give you windows all around when standing at the helm. Nice lines.

Can she be Hybrid Electric Diesel explorer yachts, with 2 or upto 4 mini vertical axis wind 1 kilowatt turbines and solar electric 8 to 12 kilowatts panels too?
Recharging onboard battery energy 20 to 30 Kilowatts packs, which provide both onboard electric powered, plus electric powered to a pair of electric motors, which drive a pair Auxiliary ducted directional propellers.
Which can silently power the yacht at 4 to 6 knots, for upto 6 to 8 hours on one charge?
Or these ducted directional propellers, can actually act as Hydro-Electric turbine generation system too, to recharge the onboard battery energy pack too?
With a pair smaller Volvo Diesel Engine Generator, either driving a pair of shaft ducted propellers.
With a top speed of 18 knots short range of 2,400 nm, or crusing speed of 9 knots and long range 4,800 nm too?

    • @stephenmurray9850
      @stephenmurray9850 Рік тому +1

Lagoon do that ( but are very slow boats) but the main reason is " wetted hull surface or drag". The wider you have, the higher the horse power needed to push it through the water which means more fuel needed or less distance you can go with a set amount of fuel. That's why really fast Cats have skinny hulls to slice through the water with min drag. Check out a Gunboat 66' or the Outremer 45 sail boats. They are very fast because the hulls are not very wide at all.

Nope. Don’t like it. Sharp edges everywhere. No need for a trampoline on this type of cat. No sturdy platform for the tender, could be a small crane for example to hoist it out. The guard rails all along the hulls should have been welded solid aluminium alloy tube. Having owned an aluminium alloy monohull, I know blisters will show up under the paint. Does not matter how well it’s done. Aluminium boats should not be painted. Access to engines should be from inside the boat if it’s an expedition class yacht. View from console is really bad. The whole helmsstation is really badly designed tbh. This designer seem pretty clue less on the real conditions out there.
