The Hiller Flying Platform had the potential to be a space age personal flying machine. But it didn't quite take off. From: UNBELIEVABLE FLYING OBJECTS bit.ly/1phbGL5
Just imagine guarding your post on the battlefield and all of the sudden thousands of these come blazing out of the horizon in a full on attack. Truly terrifying.
0:19 That one with the open helicopter rotors on the bottom ought to be called the "Flying Meatgrinder." Because it would turn its pilot into hamburger if he fell off or crashed.
I just read about these in SAO Alternative Gun Gale Online Vol. 5. In the third squad jam they send these out on autopilot to pick up the squad members who've been selected for the event's "special rule." Really cool concept.
its amusing seeing people riding on top of oversized quadcopters like 50 years later pretending theyre in the future when theyre just retracing the steps of the past
Use it as-is for a children's school lifter-16 mph, stable, rechargeable electric.... Also, the bottom should have the 'reverse effect' pressure-increaser, and a fluted-remixer to induct, and quieten, ambient air pressure into the downflow, And the center hub below where the operator stands should have an inner-Coandă-effect dome....
The Hiller Flying Platform was supposed to be the personal flying machine to launch us into the future. So what happened? Find out on Unbelievable Flying Objects: bit.ly/1v50XFZ
Wow crazy the wasp was just a smaller version of this example but still was troubled with speed problems and overall sound i can understand why they scrapped the idea but probably still working on it somewhere
I encountered several of these, well Soviet designs, with soldiers on them looking for me as I was crawling through a fetid swamp in Russia. Later after I had destroyed an ICBM launching giant tank with screws instead of treads and dispatched a rogue Colonel who used a Davy Crokett to destroy a design bureau, myself and a codebreaker for the NSA(who turned out to be basically a triple agent for the Chinese but that's another story... Later on she gave birth to two of my 'kids'.) were hunted through a forest with soldiers on these as we made our way towards the sea plane that had come to pick us up. Soviets' design was much smaller and made less noise.
These things are not as easy to construct as they seem, there is a misleadingly simplicity about them, also there is a big NOISE issue.........Peter, by the way the guy at 0:50 is attached to the airframe by a belt harness.
This is some Metal Gear level stuff right here.
A segway to surpass Metal Gear
Metal Gear...It can't be...@@Hokunin

With "Flight of the Valkyries" playing in the background as they come over the horizon.
The future is the Army's TERMINATOR-style droids, now being perfected and tested for the 2020s battlefield.
slow-moving easy target
Sounds like Fun Time for Quad-Cannon Flaks
Not effective these days. We use drones now. In 2030-40 we won't even need soldiers anymore.
Rotors below your feet... what can go wrong
Let me get this straight. Hoverboards were actually invented the year that Marty went back in time 20 years, not 30 years in the future?
This contraption was far from the first design, safest, or best designed. A German designed a platform model that could fly stable at up to 70mph.
What was the model called?
I can hear the Johnny Quest theme song while watching this.
Coolest Jazz instrumentals and tech show ever. Race Bannon was the MAN.

0:47 - remember to fly over a giant bowl if you're making human gazpacho
😂
Fascinating flying machine!
yeah...how far can you lean over before you reach an irrecoverable tipping point?
Standing on top of copter blades is AWESOME!

Put some cover on it and boom Metal Gear Solid 3
Actually we have jetpacks equipped with parachutes, the Martin jetpack costs $ 250 k
Awesome - no computers, just power and physics.
"All you had to do was pull the cord and start 'er up".
And pray to God that the engine didn't die when you are 100 feet off the ground.
so they did this with 50's motors? yeah, i want one whit today's tech
I believe someone started selling kits a few years ago under the name of "hummingbird" not certain if they are still doing it.
That's What I've Been Telling Everyone For Years!
Soon someone is gonna start selling one and calling it a hoverboard.
it technically is, it hovers?
"You could almost charge people to do this at a carnival" Thinking big aren't we...
Glad they didn't show us the blooper reel

Lol. I came here from the MGS wiki… I can’t believe these things are actually real
Thanks for sharing.
@@yws4645 Came from TV Tropes wiki to the MGS wiki, and from the MGS wiki to the video itself. Wow.
If we have the technology to do this... why can’t we modernize this and turn it into a flying Heavy machine gun?👀
Weird that we can invent wayy better in the past. Where does these scientists got their idea.
We do actually have it, and it is called drone

human gazpacho? uhhh.... i don't think it's the word they were looking for
1:28 how much this engine weights ?
cost it to watch the full episode on your website ?
Gravity industries has taken us bounds past this.
What about autorotation if the engine quits?
Like it , nice idea
And people think the Opresser mark 2 is too unrealistic
Would that have been dangerous?
Maybe
...as it's stand's,shop,shop!?the ducted one!
Yes.
Why isn’t this sold to the public? I want one!
The present day drone is feel a junk compared to this old school flying platform thing
Looks like there could be a safety issue here
is it for sale yet
Scientists: cuz why not
Not so intelligent, though. Imagine you lose control and you fall through those rotating pads below. That would tear you apart instantly! 😀
Are these the transporters from the ascension zombie map in Black Ops 1?
why not add 4 of these to a car and BOOM flying car.. :P
01:18 I'll have mine fitted with a 50 cal mg and rocket launcher please.....The checkout lines at Walmart are too long.
Normaly they could make flying car today
Why this not sell yet??
I think Germans also tried it. Whatever, I liked they kept thinking about it.
(Mon 30 Aug 2021 10h58)
No one thought Call Of Duty Zombies Ascension?
Who saw this on Jonny Quest ? : P
...low level flight!? what's the problem... inibition!?
Maybe.
So poor our technology now, because nothing continues of this
today zappata make it smaller
Very very dangerous 😂😂
E isso se tornou os drones de hoje

No it isn't the best... the WASP nukes this thing and makes it look like an old jalapy.
