In my Cal Fire career I have worked with the S-64 Sky Crane, S-61 and also the CH-47. All are awesome and he "reload and return time" is impressive. Think of what could be accomplished if we use them flying at night on wildfires.
Hey Earl. I often wonder about helicopter pilots who fly utility from the left seat. I think about back problems specifically. I see you guys use the strap to lean into. I wonder if you feel that is sufficient? I have seen Columbia Heli use a molded armpit rest on their 47. Do you have issues with back and do you think the strap is sufficient?
Yep back problems. Lol. Over 30 years of learning out the bubble all day took a toll on the ole back. The strap is Way better than the elbow pad. I can get a lot more comfortable with the strap on the ribs. The Chinook has the ability to offset pedals which is a game changer for comfort sitting sideways. I run them 3 on left 2 on right. Makes your feet even and eases the pain in the hamstring on an 8 hour flight day. 👍👍
Also no shoulder straps! Which is going to suck in an accident. More than likely will be pitched out on impact. A risk utility pilots take unfortunately
Impressive flying! Also like the music!

Exactly
I’ve flown lots of type 1 helicopters over my career and I believe the CH-47 is the best type one platform for firefighting 👍👍😎
Great seeing you back in the seat doing what you do best mate. Cheers 🍻 Aaron
Thank you
