I say hats off to the ground crew, maintenance team, and ATC, who's efforts and skills often get forgotten. No fires get put out unless you have dedicated pros at all these stations. Thanks to all of you for doing what you do. Private pilot and Sonoma County resident here.
It's about time this site was created...I love it. Years ago (45 years+-) I worked at the Nevada County airport and fueled those S2's now called S2T's for the new turbo engines. Back then they had the big radial engines and used a lot of fuel and oil. Best job ever....
Glad to see some cal fire aviation videos making an appearance. I will say the background music makes the radio traffic hard to heard. Please keep the videos coming😎
I'm going to enjoy watching this channel blow up - on the other hand - I hope you never need to do anything other than keeping small fires small. God bless you all and thank you for everything that you do... ❤🐾
Great videos of what you guys do! As a former wildland firefighter with the feds, you guys have saved my ass more than once. Eternally indebted to these pilots and all that they do!
The Guys do a Great Job by all those who are threatened by such fires & I believe not just those persons threatened by them but the on ground fire fighters appreciate the work you do... Fantastic vision as well. Thankyou for this, truly terrific job..
I did Fire for 13 years before I got injured boy do I miss it but wow I wish you guys would put out a lot more videos just like this one the aerial shots the radio traffic everything. I wish Cal Fire did it more in general video please please please put out more.
Awesome to see what you brave folks do from all the different angles! If you can keep delivering this great content, it could be a great education and recruitment tool for aerial firefighting! Fly safe!
Thanks - that was a bit frightening. Especially as the plane descended over the lake. I wondered if it was Lake of the Pines about a mile from where old friends live - and sure enough it is. Keep up the good work!
Good to see Grumman S2 Trackers still in use, albeit with turbine engines. Back in the day I used to hear Conair's Trackers and DC6's take off withir radial engines roaring away!
I've seen these kind of Air crew's do a great job from a boots on the ground P.O.V. many times. It's very cool and interesting to see and here there P.O.V. I've got 28 years in the water utility on a government level and my system provides water when they need it.and we help maintain our Canyon water shed. I've also done Fire fuel management for State lands Forestry and Fire. Great Video and cudos to the Dispatcher and crew's. Very professional. 😁👍
Live less than 5 miles South of Columbia base. Both concerned and thankful when I hear them coming and going. Hearing them orbit is often the first indication of a problem in the area.
Great job, especially this year the way you have hit fires early and hard to limit their growth and it shows, under 400k acers this year compared to 2.5 million acers last year. We still have a little fire season to go, lets hope the numbers stay down.
Thumbs up and new subscriber. REALLY like the content and appreciate the effort it takes to put these together. You could lose or lower the music. Sometimes interferes with the radio traffic. Otherwise, I think this is unique content for what you do. Great job.
Very cool. I love to watch fire fighting aircraft and listen to all their radio traffic on the scanner... (Please eliminate the background music, it detracts a lot).
Helos dropping just water or do they have retardant tanks that dilute with water for a few drops? And I've always been curious, how much closer do you have to drop since your payload is water? Typically the horizontal momentum of the plane transfers to the payload but water is a whole different beast
That's a good question. CAL FIRE"s basic job is to protect investments - timber and homes, parks too... California taxpayers foot the bill with extra from rural property taxpayers. The Feds must throw some in too.
@@archstanton_live If the fault is found to occur from the property, not natural, that could bankrupt a business as insurance has its limits. I do love the repurposing of these aircraft, although the fire-retardant does cause the vegetation to grow abnormally fast...

My comment is only about the video: music is terrible, natural sounds to covey what is happening would be much better. Too much fast video too. Another comment here called the music “background “ music, it is so loud it is indeed “foreground” music. Just what is it about UA-camrs that they think music must accompany everything???
Excellent video Grass Valley Air Attack!! good music and great video. David is so calm and specific with his direction. Great Job you guys. Thank you for protecting us.
Corruption at it's best. California wild fires is a huge business. We pay millions for contracting a huge number of resources from tankers, helicopters and thousands of firefighters and are paid on call salaries basis or best when they are fighting wild fires. The question is why BAJA México do not have the amount of wild fires as California, to date California has had over 3, 422 wild fires this year alone of 2024 and BAJA under one hundred why the huge difference when the weather and terrain is almost the same plus BAJA doesn't have the equipment or resources to fight wild fires. Yes there should be a huge investigation because Cal Fire is burning your homes.
Good Stuff Bo and Abbie!
How did I know you would be in the comment section 😂!

That tail boom footage 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
And the OV-10…what a beast
That was an S-2T Airtanker

World's best wildland firefighters. CalFIRE rocks.
Awesome teamwork, amazing comms and piloting; inspiring.
Glad to see some cal fire aviation videos making an appearance. I will say the background music makes the radio traffic hard to heard. Please keep the videos coming😎
Another great example of what Cal-Fire provides every day, true "Speed and Force" for Initial Attack fires.
I'm going to enjoy watching this channel blow up - on the other hand - I hope you never need to do anything other than keeping small fires small. God bless you all and thank you for everything that you do... ❤🐾
Some awesome flying skills on display here. CALFIRE rocks!
Unbelievable! Heros! Thank you!
Impressive work! Just sub'd - amazing!!!
Great video of all the coordination of the Cal Fire Team...
Good job there Cal Fire Air Attack !!
Great videos of what you guys do! As a former wildland firefighter with the feds, you guys have saved my ass more than once. Eternally indebted to these pilots and all that they do!

Great video! You guys are heroes and so glad your so close. Blessed to have you in our area and thank you for all you do for us!
One of the best IA video's that I have ever seen.
High speed. Low drag.
Hero’s…. God bless you all . And thanks for all you do
Great job all involved.
Yeah!!! You can bet there were some hand crews too. ✋
The Guys do a Great Job by all those who are threatened by such fires & I believe not just those persons threatened by them but the on ground fire fighters appreciate the work you do...
Fantastic vision as well.
Thankyou for this, truly terrific job..
Very precise applications there, great work done by all involved.

Calfire best firefighting outfit . I flew for Butler/TBM back in the 90's
Coolest video I have seen. You guys need to update load more videos!
Awesome video! It was cool seeing the firefight from the sky. I am always on the ground so I don't get the aerial perspective
Awesome to see what you brave folks do from all the different angles! If you can keep delivering this great content, it could be a great education and recruitment tool for aerial firefighting! Fly safe!
Beautiful work, spectacular footage and editing.
This fire was three miles from my house. It’s amazing how fast you guys got this out. Thanks so much!
Cal Fire air, you guys rock.
Thanks - that was a bit frightening. Especially as the plane descended over the lake. I wondered if it was Lake of the Pines about a mile from where old friends live - and sure enough it is. Keep up the good work!
Great video. Really let’s us lay folks see the military precision involved in fighting these fires and coordinating the resources. Thank you!
Awesome footage. Hold off on the background music. Difficult to hear the communication.
God Bless all of you!
Good to see Grumman S2 Trackers still in use, albeit with turbine engines. Back in the day I used to hear Conair's Trackers and DC6's take off withir radial engines roaring away!
Great job guys! GV always killing it!
What a neat video!

That made an unforgettable part of my life. Watching plane 86 & 88 charge out of Columbia CA.& fight fires in EVERY direction in Tuolumne County❗
Live less than 5 miles South of Columbia base. Both concerned and thankful when I hear them coming and going. Hearing them orbit is often the first indication of a problem in the area.

Wow that is cool, looks more fun than my airline job.
You gotta admire the radio traffic
more radio less music imho
Yupp nothing like calling in drops
Amazing Job. Amazing video. Thanks
Great people these are...
Awesome work!
Great video, great editing. Nice job👍
Excellent video.

Outstanding video. I work on a ramp with jets but its not as cool as this. 👍🏻
Good job !
Bravo.Thenks
Nice...
Good drop
Very cool. I love to watch fire fighting aircraft and listen to all their radio traffic on the scanner... (Please eliminate the background music, it detracts a lot).
Thank You - gallons of coffee, av gas, jet fuel, Coke, then hours of aircraft maintenance and paperwork. (then maybe a cold one for ground crews)

Well done…
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great footage, but get rid of the music.
Agreed!
Good video, but please eliminate music !
Probably super obvious; what is Foster Crew 3?
Need to add more audio distractions. Engine noise, music, communication. Yea add more stuff.
No reason for the music. Video is exciting without it.
Does insurance foot the bill? That was expensive..

Music is a rookie move! 😞

Another comment here called the music “background “ music, it is so loud it is indeed “foreground” music. Just what is it about UA-camrs that they think music must accompany everything???
Lose the annoying music, or whatever that noise it.
Turn off the music
You ruined a great video with the music. you don't need music on a video lick this.
Lame music.
Excellent video Grass Valley Air Attack!! good music and great video. David is so calm and specific with his direction. Great Job you guys. Thank you for protecting us.
