Last year at house of paigne 19 M2k and I were playing friendlies and a random ice coffee was sitting by our set up and asked if it was mine. I said no I'm not sure who owns it, so he looks around real quick and grabs it. Taking a big sip not once, but twice then setting it down. A couple minutes later some guy came up to the set up to watch, normal. Then he grabs HIS ice coffee that m2k just sipped on. M2k knowing what's going on, trying not to laugh and me and him eye balling each other. The one and only time I met m2k and I got a LOL M2K story.

Ah. For some reason, watching these reaction videos is chill and relaxing.
At Big House 2019, my friend and I were walking back to our hotel when we bumped into Mew2King when the venue was evacuated for a gas leak. His phone was dead, and he was just wandering around the streets. Some guy said "YO YOU DON'T WANNA GO THAT WAY", and Jason like straight up ignored him and walked in that direction.
I grabbed Mew2King and was like "where's your hotel, we can get you there".
He then was like "I'm hungry, what is there to eat?". We buy him chili despite warning him against the chili (because he doesn't have cash or something, I forget) and offered to buy him a hotdog instead. We laugh to some dumb tweets and talk and genuinely have a good time in that short half hour.
He gives me a Cliff Bar and tells me some sick Marth tips on our way to his hotel... which was sick. The morning after, I ate that cliff bar and won my first set of the day.

He isnt a joker. He seems to have high level autism and just cant understand interactions with people that well.
I have the same but of course ours manifests in different but similar ways with different but similar results but the same underlying issues and at 39 I still have trouble understanding interactions with people.
We are good people but hard to understand.
I remember in the Smash documentary, it was said that if he wasnt so good at Smash Bros, most people wouldnt like him, and that seems cruel but it isnt. It is just honest. He is socially awkward, but makes up for it by being part of a community where he has a purpose and a skill, and he is lucky to have that community. I am happy for him.
I only have work, and my skill is management, but outside of work I have nothing so I can completely relate the M2K.

Was he unhappy during his career playing smash? (srsly asking, just started playing smash and watching peeps in the community)
Sometimes while watching some pro players - tbh very few seem super excited or jazzed to be there lol. I suppose that might just be the exposure to being on a stage and playing at that level and just going thru the motions of it and staying relatively calm. But there's not seemingly A LOT of super animated people playing at the pro level - even when a lot of players win it's almost like celebrating/popping off seems idk - sort of discouraged or maybe seen as sometimes disrespectful? It's difficult to judge or tell whats going on in someones head when they are focused on the game. But some players - like ESAM who I REALLY enjoy watching is almost MANIC hahahah to the point where its like "Omg is ESAM the only guy having a great time playing this game even when he loses??" lol.
TBH I don't think theres anything wrong with whatever works best for each player - but sometimes I'll see like a great player just let out like a big ass sigh - like Marss does it quite a bit for example, can't tell if its out of frustration if he loses a stalk prematurely or if its to refocus himself - cus u do see a lot of players capable of some pretty tough comebacks like him. Idk, just sort of have general interest in the sports psychology of it all :)

@@DekkarJr I don't think that means they didn't enjoy the game, or don't have friends etc, but it is still a job and a sport: it takes a toll on you. Especially when you get punished for being better than others.

Honestly, these interactions with these smash players make them seem like the best of friends. I wish I could be there because during the melee and brawl days, it sounds like it would be the greatest time ever for these players. It just really shows the camaraderie between these people.

Oh god, I can relate to these smash stories too well. This is basically me in senior year of high school. Bummy coat I always wear to school. Bringing boxes of cereal to class. Living with a friend to the annoyance of his mom. Zero regard for social norms. Honestly I feel a little vindicated learning others lived this kind of life too lol
