I was a chubby little white boy in the early 80s. The only records my parents ever listened to were from people like the Carpenters and Captain & Tenille. One day my neighbors had a yard sale and I found some 45 records there by someone called Earth, Wind & Fire. I didn't know who they were, but I begged my mom to buy them for me because I wanted to hear more records. I got those records home, put them on my record player, and oh man was my little mind blown. I couldn't stop dancing. From that day on I fell in love with soul groove. A little later I discovered the Commodores, Hall & Oates, Kool & the Gang, and so on. Good memories.

Yes...their style covered more than Soul. They incorporated so many other flavors -subtley. They used Rock, Latin rock, Disco of that era in a variety of their music. They are still my #1 FAV

The most amazing stuff of the EWF, is the stunning Horn Section. Simply, out of this planet, aside the groove and vibe from this guys. Irresistible!!. If nobody dances with the intro and all song, it is not human, it`s a robot.

This 63 old white lady still grooves to EWF. I was lucky and saw them in concert, will never forget it. This did bring tears to my eyes, lost Maurice too soon, you can see he is all in singing this song and all of their play list. Thank you guys! ❤💖🔥

I met Verdeen White (the bassist) many years ago. He used to come into this little store I worked at on Santa Monica Blvd. He was always so pleasant and nice and was always interested in so many things. We'd have some nice conversations every time he came in.
Their name was based on the 4 metaphysical elements of the Universe: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They were very metaphysically minded.

Let's Glide like a 747.! I remember hitting that back slide on the dance floor in the 70s, to this part in the song. That's right bell-bottoms, disco balls, and those lit up dance floors they gave you a migraine the next day.!

I freaking love Earth, Wind & Fire. Sure this music came out before my time but I don’t care. Let’s Groove is my all time favorite song by that group. As soon as you hear that intro, you can’t help but bust a move. I always have to hear that intro a few times. The intro is my favorite part.

When I was a youngster growing up in the 70's n living it up in the 80' s , my older brother and sisters used to take me with them facing with the older folks at the time and when I started to hear this kinda music , like disco n soul music , I knew then it was time groove...lol

K let me tell you, this band IS THE BOMB! I FRICKEN LOVE THEM! When my big brother brought home this album, he played the vinyl on our family record player cabinet consol whatever they're called, 1980... my sisters and I DIED! WE-LUUUUUVED-THIS SONG! O-M-G! We played the shit out of this! And there wasn't a big family function/wedding where this song wasn't played. DJ's always played this and the dance floor always got packed! Up until my wedding in May 2001, I asked my DJ to play this and to dedicate it over the mic to my brother, love me 🤗❤

I'm a new sub and noticed you did decide to go down the rabbit hole with my favorite band of all time! They were my very first concert...and I'm still trying to find a band that puts on an all around better "live" show than this group. They are the consummate musicians, vocalists..and musical producers. That have such a vast and diverse catalog. You can just get lost in the music if tou really listen to the way they perfectly combine their vocals with the musical composition with all of the instruments. Evey single person is talented and their music reflects it. It's magical how the way they produce their songs where the solos and harmonies blended with the instruments almost become one "voice..sound" but with so many layers. They're are true artists in every way..in their own unique lane.

Sad to say, I only saw EWF one time. Only once. that was here in LA, at The Forum. WHAT, a concert ! 1st off, EVERYONE was there ! Black----white----Asian-----Latin----Gay----Hetero-----& everyone in between. 2nd, they put on a show of shows ! And, we were all dancing in the aisles, singing along, & i never had so much fun . My date was a girl named Gwen Johnson, who I had worked with. As she was black, this had caused real problems with her family, but NOT at this concert ! EVERYONE ---------every kind of person-------was there, & no one cared. OMG, EWF were just fantastic . And, we left, with smiles on our faces. -----------------MJL< 76 y/o-
