Can we talk about the knee pads? Even when done well, kneeling on a hard floor during a fast-paced performance can be dangerous because the knee has very little natural cushion. As performers, often times we are asked to sacrifice that safety for a certain "look". But here, knee pads were needed and simply integrated into the look the way it should be! Thanks Tessa & design team!

She’s one of the best humans I know, but this one is on theme for today. When Tessa was in Minneapolis last, I had COVID and couldn’t go. BFF took my ticket, recorded all my favorite songs for me, and surprised me with a bunch of merch. I was so upset to miss the concert, but she still made it special for me💜
She's been there for me since day one. Through middle school, highschool, and now college. Losing our V cards, suicidal mental breaks, instagram banning our comments about each other for bullying and harassment, getting quarantined together, pregnancy scare, a world full of firsts, and screaming to Tessa Violet in the Car at 3 am, love her with my whole heart💖

Um. So. This is the first Tessa I've not liked. It just feels like some market analyst came up with a new thing. Someone thought a long time about the marketing.
All the other stuff has felt joyful. This is well done, don't get me wrong, but it feels like it's aiming at a kind of image that's been built on the fly. Or maybe I am just wrong about it all. That could be true. too. Anyone who likes it, is right. I just...

But maybe be Tessa Violet...? We already have a lot of that other stuff.

I think it sounds too monotonous and has a low dynamic range. It doesn’t separate itself from average pop songs on the radio. As an artist I wouldn’t release such a song. She can do way better as she proved in that older song with the repeated movements. That rhythm was full of little sparkling details that will stay in my mind forever and it suited her voice better.

Thing is, in the before times, when albums were a thing, artists could do weird shit and it was fine. Sometimes you'd buy a set of 10 songs, and you'd hate 2. Only, 3 months later, you'd still hate 1 of them ***but you'd love the other***. LOVE. And it sucked, because it took some effort for your buddies to believe you. Because everyone hated the first times they'd listen, like you did, so how to make them listen again, and again.../
And it sucks, and I feel it, that this sort of thing - getting to know a hard song - doesn't happen much now. Artists could do risky stuff, back in the day, and people would listen to it. Now..?
I dunno. Not my thing. But I hope it's someone's. Mostly, though, I hope it's hers. I just feel like it's a bit rushed.

I fell in love with Tessa's music with Bad Ideas, from there discovered Halloway and Maybe Trapped, Mostly Troubled and loved them too. (Haze and Tennessee are top drawer). But sadly I really can't warm to the vocals, the production or the video here, it all seems so manufactured and anodyne - however lots of people seems to love it, so what do I know🙂

My best friend quite literally is the best person I know! She once paid over $300 to get me to a concert with her the same day after I recovered from covid but had already cancelled my travel plans as a precaution. I was super bummed I'd miss the show and then she did that! I love her forever.
