I got that. When she said about the victim's family that she wouldn't know how she would feel if it happened to her is a classic example of having no empathy for the way this woman was murdered and the family who lost that wonderful lady. I think the reason Capital Punishment is not stopping these acts of murder is that the condemned get to wait years, even decades before the sentence is carried out. I do believe innocent people are sent to their deaths, and that's the reason for appeals, which is good... but when this murder is the classic example of why the Death Penalty exists... all I keep thinking is the fact this guy did not give that woman special rights when he slaughtered her... so why does he get special treatment? It boggles my mind.

I'm sorry, but the argument of "try and understand where he was coming from at the time and why he did it" is the most braindead, apologistic take I have ever herd. No, a murderer does not get sympathy, ever. Especially from family members grieving their loved one who was murdered in cold blood. There are some legit arguments of why the death penalty is questionable, but trying to humanize a murderer? Holy cow, lady, stop virtue signaling for a minute and just think about the horrible, disgusting thing you just said.

Setting aside justice, the argument of life being precious, the question of whether the government should have this type of power, etc., this is a VERY costly affair. Keeping him in prison for life would have been significantly cheaper. It makes me wonder whether that money could have been better spent elsewhere, such as supporting the families who have lost loved ones.
