If only there are players like you. With this i mean that in every fighting game there are the top tier characters who everyone pick and make almost all the tournaments somewhat boring to watch, because you see the same characters over and over and over again.
My favorite part about IHeartJustice is simply how his team design process was like "hmm... Pheonix Wright... justice... How can I make this work?" and then became a top tier player with a neglected character
I know nothing about MvC but I love Ace Attorney. The fact that Wright's team went down 0-2 match point, made a wild comeback to get even, then got on the back foot in the final set, before barely pulling out a victory, not by knockout, but by an edge case rule, is just perfect Ace Attorney.
There's a whole video explaining how Phoenix Wright is perfectly designed to replicate the Ace Attorney story flow in Marvel gameplay. I think it's called Animation Excellence.
There’s a legit hero vs villain parallelism in this match up. Both have the main goal of getting a character named Phoenix to their final form. One learning true justice and another embracing true darkness. Their assistance being protective shields and powerful blasts respectively. Both being used as set up to the Pheonix. With both being on opposite ends of the moral spectrum in their original source materials. Iheartjustice was the protag of the entire match from team selection alone.
even their positions and roles are reversed. Wright is on point and is played actively with his team while Jean is THE anchor and rarely helps her team
Dude when you hit the “captain America refuses to be scared, calmly steps forward and grabs dark pheonix” THEN HE JUST ENDS THE GAME NO REMORSE that shit was hype
It’s like an actual ace attorney case where everyone helps protect Phoenix as he discovers the truth and gives the final blow. The enemy would end up using everything at their final point
One random thing I really enjoy about this is that you say what’s happening slightly before it happens rather than slightly afterwards as most narrated matches do. It makes it so much easier to tell what’s happening especially if you’re not that familiar with the game
I didn't even realize before you mentioned it. I guess what they say is true, if you do a good job, no one realizes because everything works as intended
3:10 Fun fact: IHeartJustice actually didn’t do this setup correctly. j.2H (the Objection) isn’t an Overhead, it hits Mid. Outside Turnabout mode, you’re supposed to do this setup using either 6M (Wright’s standing overhead), or an X-Factor cancel into a different jumping normal. But 6M causes a hard knockdown, and Maya’s still recovering from the super, so Wright doesn’t have access to her OTG specials. Without an OTG assist, all you can do is stance change into Order In The Court, and then you have to X-Factor cancel that to get an Objection off. I think IHeartJustice was betting FChamp knew Wright had an unblockable with Maya, but didn’t quite know how it worked, and did a fake version that let him get Turnabout mode without using his X-Factor. Had FChamp just blocked low, he would’ve been fine. The absolute audacity to hit an EVO champion with a fraudulent setup like this.
"instead of showing any fear, Captain America calmly walks up and grabs her" I just imagine a raid boss roars and C.A just says "Alright then." as he YEETS the living daylights out of the boss.
Something that rarely gets mentioned: Wright's items are only randomized after character select. Every rematch, he'll keep that pull order. If he pulls items too quickly, its best to go back to character select to reset the order, because if you don't he'll keep pulling them just as fast in the next game.
@@rubiks5659 Honestly, knowing champ, it's more likely he got a bit flustered. He'd often go to character select as a bit of a mental reset and to consider the switch to dorm. But he's very knowledgeable about the game, I'm quite sure he knows about it.
That's clearly not true; look at games three and four. As the voice over says, both players instantly rematch. Therefore, the items should be the same. What did he pull in game three? Three good evidence in a row, nothing else. Then, after that game, they immediately rematch. What does he pull in game four? Bad evidence, bad evidence, good evidence, good evidence, good evidence. I don't know where this urban legend came from, but it's not true.
Very good analysis. A nice thing about Charging Star is that it tracks the opponent, so if they jump over you when you call it, Captain America will actually turn around to hit them. Helps the "get off me" aspect of the assist. iHeartJustice really created a way to make Wright's gimmick playable, with Eye of Agamotto, and Charging Star to keep them away. Even if the most optimal way to play Wright is to play him second to avoid his gimmick at the 99 in the first place, his weakest point (See Raid aka The Last Jedi who beat FrankieG 3-0 recently at Texas Showdown 2022, Aonien, and WolfStreet back in the day), iHeartJustice put results on the table. Keep up the content!
As someone who used to play Phoenix Wright. This was always fun to do. I swear guys like IHeartJustice really showed what Wright can do if you put a team around him. Makes me wonder if he didn't get cut, what would he played like in TvC?

0:08 wait so if I understand this correctly; if someone in the losers bracket gets first place in the loser bracket. It then allows the losers bracket winner to fight the winners bracket winner in “the grand finals”? *(I’m Shortening “Losers Bracket Winner” to “LBW” from now on, same for “Winners Bracket Winner” to WBW)* Does this mean the LBW can win the entire tournament if he wins these so called “grand finals”? Leaving the loser of “grand finals” getting second place in the tournament overall even though he won the winners bracket? And if the LBW loses in the “grand finals” does he then get second place in the tournament over all? Seems pretty unfair to be honest… Like it screws over the people who were in the winners bracket, especially the loser of winners bracket finals. Like this is confusing to me on why they would do that. I would think that after the losers bracket has its final match, that’s it and depending on how they do it, they would either 1) get third and fourth place respectively in the tournament overall, or 2) be entirely separated with first and second place in losers bracket with its own lower prizes. Cause when it’s done that way it doesn’t screw over the people in the winners bracket who rightfully won their matches. But instead it seems they get screwed over by people in the losers bracket who lost a game, but then came back to get to these supposed “grand finals”. Which leads to the LBW at LEAST stealing second place from the loser of the winners bracket finals, or the LBW straight up winning the entire tournament. Which totally screws over the finalists of the winners bracket. Which to me just seems like total bullshit :/ If I’m wrong can someone explain it to me? Because normally from what I’ve seen there’s just losers bracket and winners bracket, where the winners bracket match results in 1st and second place overall, and then like I said earlier, the losers bracket is usually a separate thing entirely, or in some cases the loser bracket finalists get third and fourth place. But anyways so in my opinion, the two brackets being entirely separate is the correct way to do it. The way that it seems to be in the tournament in the video seems super unfair for the original finalists from the winners bracket, and seems to allow someone who had initially lost the tournament to then come back and steal the entire tournament, which is so unfair in my opinion. *I really hope that I’m just misunderstanding how it works, but this is how it sounded like to me. Can anyone explain to me how this tournaments grand finals work?*
Short answer: losers bracket winner has to beat winners bracket winner TWICE to win the whole tournament. The first win is called a "bracket reset" because it puts them on equal footing for the next set. Longer answer: the top of the tournament is played in a format called "double elimination". Each player can survive one defeat, but they're moved from winners bracket to losers bracket, and losing in losers bracket eliminates them. The winners bracket winner, having not lost before grand finals, still has two shots at victory versus the losers bracket winner's one remaining chance. It's considered "fair" since everyone is allowed one defeat; loser's bracket is just where everyone BUT winners bracket winner has to fight to face the guy that never lost. In practice there's no perfectly fair format, but double-elim finals is fair enough in concept while also being fun to watch and play.

I’m a complete beginner, and I played phoenix wright because of this video out of curiosity (phoenix wright, dante, haggar), and holy carpel tunnel this guy is amazing
Ah…the Iheartjustice era. Hood times. Good times. I kinda forgot that both phoenixes had similar game plans in terms of the entir team being devoted to charging theme up for. A short lived high risk super mode.
I’ve always enjoyed MvC3 and understand the mechanics but felt lost during a lot of matches, your breakdowns really help me learn the game on a deeper level. Thank you for what you do!
I don’t know if FChamp is playing a character or really like this (or both, usually the case) but he makes these stories fun. The braggadociously toxic champion with the ridiculously top tier team and the knowhow to make it work is the perfect setup for classic underdog stories like this, KBR, etc
Bro I work almost every day all day in a kitchen and after three years I was running out of things to watch. You combine one of my favorite hobbies with great commentary and now I've got a whole catalog to watch.
God, I never imagined the utter confusion of listening to this while you speak super fast about 2 different people each trying to kill a different character called Phoenix.
I just recently got interested in MvC and this video is great for anyone to understand how this type of fighter game works. Perfectly explained and narrated this captivating story! Amazing work!
Dude your videos are so awesome. Making videos about the random awesome runs/sets is always great but it being about MvC3 makes these uploads a highlight of the week every time. Especially because the in-depth analysis makes it easier to show to my friend that I've dragged into fighting games this year lol
One cool thing I rarely see mentioned about phoenix wright-you can plink L and S to get evidence search (in the first slot) and Maya shield at the same time. You can see iheartjustice do it at 8:50.
These are outstanding, i hope you keep making them. The events within the fgc itself are my favorite part of fighting games, and it's just not communicated by people looking at the games themselves. I got SO hype a while back when JMCrofts started doing fgc history videos and he said he would do a Bunch and then stopped after like 3. So i am SO happy to see Someone continuing to talk about this side of fighting game history. Please don't ever stop.
Ya know I'm not the biggest fan of fchamp, but my man's put up a great fight. As soon as I heard it was iheartjustice or Javi I knew it was over. (for those of you who watch lythero) You'll know he has an AMAZING Videl in DBFZ so he's no stranger on capitalizing on terrible characters. It's honestly a lucky trick Marvel players, myself included do. Instead of overthinking left-right mix-ups, you just dedicate to a certain direction and commit. Javi hit the ground and just commited to leaving the corner with a jump forward, he just happened to block!
6:54 one thing thats important is that phonix wright evidence is random after game start so by going back to charater select he is rerolling his evidence luck

I was watching this while getting ready to run and I literally sat on my floor watching this as if I was there watching it live. Truly stupendous content man. I subscribed on your 3rd video hope all is well man.
As someone whose enjoyed what I’ve seen of MvC but gets a little lost in all of the chaos, this was a fantastic breakdown of one of my favorite things in the FGC: underdog/obscure teams winning.
Ive been watching these matches non stop before and getting to see your content helped me relive all those hype moments. Keep it up my guy! Hope we'll all get to see whats next for Mahvel and the fighting game community!

Not much better than seeing Fchamp lose. Another banger vid! Still recommending Fanatiq vs RayRay grudge match!!
Your play by play is on point! Seeing this great match with a new appreciation for all the little details in how they were adapting back and forth.
I’ve always enjoyed MvC3 and understand the mechanics but felt lost during a lot of matches, your breakdowns really help me learn the game on a deeper level. Thank you for what you do!
we loooove clowning on fchamp
"instead of showing any fear, Captain America calmly walks up and grabs her"
that line has "did he just walk up slowly... and down smash?" energy
It’s also peak Captain America. Godlike being of unlimited power and destruction? Just beats it up with good ol’ American muscle.
This is incredible!! I’m so happy there’s a dedicated UMvC3 channel out here. Fantastic analysis
What a story teller! Love your videos!
That match was a real Turnabout
I call this match The Turnabout Opposites
I fucking love these videos. If only marvel 3 could get rollback
DID HE JUST WALK UP AND GRAB!?
I don’t know if FChamp is playing a character or really like this (or both, usually the case) but he makes these stories fun. The braggadociously toxic champion with the ridiculously top tier team and the knowhow to make it work is the perfect setup for classic underdog stories like this, KBR, etc
Captain America walking calmly towards Dark Phoenix is something that needs to be in a movie
Bro I work almost every day all day in a kitchen and after three years I was running out of things to watch. You combine one of my favorite hobbies with great commentary and now I've got a whole catalog to watch.
Phoenix vs Phoenix, trully a battle for the ages
YESS this is the exact set I was waiting for. goated channel

Was about to suggest some IheartJustice content in your previous videos but here it is.
Thanks for this stuff sir.
This is the best content the fgc has to offer. Seriously.
Mad props.
Team games are always so cool for this
I always love that you can build a team for a weaker character and make it work
I thinks is IheartJustice ufffffffffff
Thank you for making these videos
every mvc3 video "how used a low tier/unique team to beat fchamp"

Thabks for breaking this one down. It was absolutely memorable when it happened and beautiful to see the nostalgia broken down.
That wasn’t Phoenix Wright in this match, that was Saul Goodman.
POG The exact set I requested!
Man what throwbacks these videos have been. I'm seriously missing UMVC3 now 😭😭
Ya know I'm not the biggest fan of fchamp, but my man's put up a great fight. As soon as I heard it was iheartjustice or Javi I knew it was over. (for those of you who watch lythero) You'll know he has an AMAZING Videl in DBFZ so he's no stranger on capitalizing on terrible characters. This video was amazing thank you for talking about one of my favorite sets in marvel 3. Keep up the great work and stay awesome.
Videl isn’t terrible by any means, what are you talking about?
@@tearitup5864 With the right team synergy she's good and a good point.
@@tearitup5864 He was a Day 1 Videl main and she USED to suck balls
@@shinimaplayz7932 I guess you haven’t caught up with the patches, she’s REALLY good now, point or otherwise, she’s just not a good anchor and that’s it
@@inaccurateprophecy8971 oh yes definitely, when she first came out in S2, she was horrendous
Another great video! I was never into MvC before your videos because it was too hard to track everything, but you do a great job of explaining all the important elements! Looking forward to the next one
5:46 how in the FUCK did this man block that god damn he's good
It's honestly a lucky trick Marvel players, myself included do. Instead of overthinking left-right mix-ups, you just dedicate to a certain direction and commit. Javi hit the ground and just commited to leaving the corner with a jump forward, he just happened to block!
I've never played this game but it's always great to watch with it's super fast pace and combo/technique applications.

Javi had the power of Ross and anime on his side that night.
6:54 one thing thats important is that phonix wright evidence is random after game start so by going back to charater select he is rerolling his evidence luck
10:01 the way he wlaked up SLOWLY is actually insane the end lag on pheonix x factor is crazy.
4:19 i dont get why he couldnt stay as captain america to get one more super bar so when he switched back to phoenix he could use the ace attorney to kill dark Phoenix
The villan of mvc3.

i love this channel. 10/10 commentary.
Wright is my favorite character in the game, glad to see somebody doing him "justice"
When i hear the name of Iheartjustice
Others: Wow, the best Phoenix Wright
Me: IT'S PRIDE MONTH, but power tho...
It’s great living through these days and seeing the notoriety these sets deserved
Woah, i remember iheartjustice beat fchump , but this set I didn’t see before, thats a great surprise
Honestly, this has become my favourite fighting game related channel, and is fast becoming my favourite channel
Found your channel yesterday and have been going through your videos. Your videos are very fun to watch and I love seeing this type of content in the FGC. Keep it up, you'll for sure continue to grow
Zyzx_, watching from the backlines: "thats my boy. I taught him so well."
Lythero, with popcorns in hands: "indeed."
I was watching this while getting ready to run and I literally sat on my floor watching this as if I was there watching it live. Truly stupendous content man. I subscribed on your 3rd video hope all is well man.
this video is so dope that even though i dont even play this game, ive watched it at least 5 times already. thanks dude.
omg, i just realized why i recognized iheartjustice, i know him by lythero videos, how cool
13:18 hey it's Spider-Man
I guess my favorite memory is GamerBee's Adon besting Justin Wong after the latter thrash talking about the character. Great video, full of insight.
great vid, loved the analysis
As someone whose enjoyed what I’ve seen of MvC but gets a little lost in all of the chaos, this was a fantastic breakdown of one of my favorite things in the FGC: underdog/obscure teams winning.
Very clearly presented. I love your channel!
Ive been watching these matches non stop before and getting to see your content helped me relive all those hype moments. Keep it up my guy! Hope we'll all get to see whats next for Mahvel and the fighting game community!
i love how you explain every detail about the game for all the friends i'll never show this to
Subscribed because phoenix found evidence lol that was a nice touch. Good videos
This is such a sweet channel. I've been loving these videos.

"The only time a lawyer can cry is when it's all over."
-Diego Armando.
12:27 Phoenix Wright was like, "IIIIIIIIII OBBBBJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECCCCCTTTTTT!"
Great great video! Found myself back watching it again
Well made video, explains everything really well for viewers that are not familiar with the game and yet the characters. Keep it up
