I bred chickens for over 15 years. I got on eBay for an incubator, reptile ceramic heater and I had a heat lamp already.
Between my friends, neighbours and around my house, I had enough material to make a brood box.
I love quail but the rest of the family are to spoilt to eat around all the little bones.
Since my last surgery in 2019 I’ve struggled to get my gardens up and productive (new house and sorer than ever before). I still grow enough to noticeably lower my grocery bill and with 5 chooks I get plenty of eggs.🍺🍺

My young chickens are a bit bigger than quails now. Lost two yesterday, not sure what got them. Hawk, cat, fox, snake I don't think it was the big snake about three metres as it just ate the baby Possum that's nature especially living amongst the bush.

Yep! I've hatched hundreds of Jap quails. I called them my 'Popcorn chickens' 😆 I was able to process them from alive to ready to cook in 5 mins each.
How fast they grow and how many eggs they lay depends on how much and the type of food you give them 👍
      I also tried rabbits 😊

Ive kept large quail for eggs and meat. 4 quail egg = 1 hen egg. Meat is a bit fiddly, but very tasty. Make sure your quail pen is rat proof. We lost our flock to being eaten alive by rats overnight.

Bantam chickens are a great size. Not to big and not to small. When im getting closer to coming down for some supacoop compost i can bring you a few fertile eggs for you too incubate, bantam Australorp X english game if you might be interested. As i also heard that you mentioned about the quails for meat. Yes this will definitely be another awesome segment for your channel.

@martysgarden you should check out Serama chickens. They are pretty cool for little pets. I have another broody hen sitting on her wild clutch of 10 eggs in the old wood pile. I thought I lost her about a week ago. They should be hatching around the 20th. As long as the snakes don't get them. Fingers crossed.

I really enjoyed your videos, but do not eat animals and hate to see them die. I can't be cold-hearted in this manner. I've also unsubscribed from Mark at self sufficient me for this reason. It torments me how people treat animals, how cruel they are and how quick they are to kill them so they have their meat. Same thing with these stupid evil American. They just want to kill, kill, kill. I'm so tired of living in this evil world and preferred to never have been born in the first place. I don't belong here. I know people are going to hate on me, but this is how I feel. I just can't stand living anymore.
