- Parasite Actor Lee Sun-kyun passed away in December 2023 after reportedly taking his own life due to stresses caused by being blackmailed and vilified in the national press. He was discovered with a charcoal briquette in his car in a remote parking lot near Waryong Park in northern Seoul. I went to visit the location to see if there are still memorials left to him and to imagine how it would feel to let go of everything in this spot.

The whole world remembered in grief when his image was shown at the Oscars on March 10, included in the In Memoriam segment of the show.
That place is such a metaphor for how he must have felt…at a dead end, no way to see the beauty just around the corner. Alone, boxed in, and hopeless. I feel so sorry for him…hounded to death just for the sake of some cops getting promotions.

Thanks for the respectful way in which way you have covered this tragedy. I knew of Lee Sun-Kyun from the film Parasite, and he was an amazing actor in it. I can't even imagine what his last moments were like in such a grim location. I hope those whose actions lead to his untimely death face severe consequences. I also hope that his family gets justice so that they can find peace and acceptance in time. RIP Lee Sun-Kyun, you deserved better than how you were treated in your final days.

I just can't imagine his weeping face when he finally took his own life in a extreme tragic way to save his family bcoz he really knew that while he is still alive greedy media,evil police officers,corrupt trash politicians and very toxic Knetz will never leave him in peace, the feeling of emptiness,loneliness,he felt so all alone in that battle,he can't endure anymore those harshly judgements,wrongful accusations,public humiliations of those evil wicked trash humans😡🤬👹we are praying that those scumbags will be seriously punished if not by law but by the laws of very bad KARMA. So what they want us to believe is that while fighting for his justice Lee sun Kyun decided to go and buy some charcoal and end his life and leave his family behind as well. Oh I almost forgot and also write a suicidi note to his wife saying this is the only way. Really? And then drive to this remote park to do the did… right? Loads of bull.
Yes he was pushed into a corner and ok maybe he didn’t see a way out, but he wouldn’t be so coward to leave his family behind.
I do not accept this and neither should his family.
His sons should turn the world upside down to uncover the real truth. Their father was murdered. He was not a coward and neither was he a bad husband. His only mistake was to have been at the wrong place at the wrong time and be targeted by these 2 hyenas and other higher positions hyenas.

I fall in love with South Korea because of Lee sun kyun and many other great actors and actresses. I started Korean lessons because of that. But Lee sun kyun was my favorite actor of all times not only because of his splendid acting and his angelic voice but because of what he was representing. Yes he might have done mistakes , daaaa he was still human, but I will never accept that he cowardly took his own life , never. We have to get to the bottom of this for his soul and for his wife and sons.
If I had one wish, I would ask to go back in time and protect him.
I was concerned. It seemed like a dump and made me concerned he’d been killed. I would wish it had been a beautiful landscape., but maybe he walked up first and returned to his car.
If anyone reading this thinks that no one notices you, that no one remembers you, you have no idea. There are people like me who collect strangers into my heart. You might be cared about more than you can imagine. Lee Sun-Kyung is one example, Sean is another, people I have seen on airplanes, in airports, at small family stores. I see struggles or pain and I worry and cry about people whose names I’ll never know.
Captain in the armed forces, deployed to Afghanistan, with no one to tell, wanted me to pray for him - mid 1990s. I don’t know if he survived but I don’t forget. Anyway, I don’t know why Lee Sun- Kyun would spend 19 hours in interrogation, then sui. park. It makes more sense that someone else other-cide. The responsible person would have to be connected to the people who spent the day with Mr Lee.

Wow! Thank you, thank you and thank you for showing this last way to Lee Sun Kyun! I, from Poland, based on photos and recordings from night cameras, a few days after his death, located the place on Google Maps, hoping that one day I will be in Seoul and it will be one of the places I will definitely visit and light a candle there for him.
I even asked you to do it on my behalf...
But now, thanks to you, I could go there. This means a lot to me, because to this day it is difficult for me to come to terms with this terrible process and the social murder of such a great artist.
