Playing a couple of games with new reksai, she generally feels so much better in every aspect EXCEPT for how absurdly buggy her W is. In a single match it failed to knock up champs around 14 times (i clipped every time it happened and counted afterwards).
Hi! On the topic of Smolder's winrate vs game length curve not being so extreme at later intervals of gametime, I am curious if you omitted early forfeits from the sum. When I look at the numbers with just Nexus destruction on 14.4, he is not sitting around 51-52 (I forget the exact number mentioned) but much higher.
When are we gonna understand from the balance team side that maokai sitting at 52% wr last season doesnt make the champion fine, it was the combination of the 52% and the low pickrate, if taric suddenly jumps to 15% pickrate, he's gonna need big nerfs as well. Please riot, it's a combination of pickrate and winrate, you seemed to understand this task when you nerfed fizz this season to 49%wr even if last season he was at 52%, BUT FOR SOME REASON, FOR MAOKAI, you just want to bring him back to 52%. When a champion is obnoxious like maokai, if he gains popularity, just put him at 50%wr, until pickrate drops, then do w/e u want with him idc at that point anymore.
Was the Leona W visual bug fixed yet? Her halo falls off when the explosion happens, but it's supposed to stay for the duration of her extended armor and mr buff if she hits something. It's been broken for at least half a year at this point

@Phreak I just found out the Hubris passive that spawned the statues was removed in patch 14.4. I don't remember seeing it in the patch notes or seeing an explanation as to why it was removed. Can you please explain the decision to remove the statues? I really enjoyed the passive statues as I thought it added some unique flavor to the game. Thanks!

The champ hasn't been killed, but is significantly more clunky and shitty to play. E is slow as shit unless you're dashing to something and W is clunky as fuck in normal and all out form, plus you still got the bug that locks you out for the full duration so there's that. Imo they didn't make the champ weaker, buy they made him significantly more unsatisfying to play and so much more clunky than before his rework. But hey that's just Phreak decision making at its finest. In patch 13.20 he says scaling percent health true damage is "illegal" and in this patch he decides to give Smolder the "illegal" scaling buff. I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna end up with an op as shit Smolder in the next patch with a winrate of 54-55% while K'sante winrate might go up to a whopping 47% in diamond 2 and above. Whoopty fucking doo
Restoring the AoE knockup on Rek'Sai is nice to see. My roommate and I still reminisce of the 5 man knockup I got once that led to his Yasuo ult and our MF ult.
I am a user of the Korean server Reksai. This time, Rek'Sai's q was improved in patch 14.5, but this time a w aerial bug occurred. Some work, some don't. It's up to you. If you want to do it this way, roll back to before 14.4. After the 14.4 rework, I wrote more than 10 inquiries to Riot Korea.
Just some comments on Maiden. Last time i attempted this, when Neeko disguises herself as Maiden, she does no damage. Also, either Maiden's autos should apply Malignance, OR when Yorick attacks the target marked by Maiden it should be applied.
I get why the Sera changes are being made and why she's not being balanced for Mid, but damn does it blow to lose another champ. I just like playing supportive midlaners and aside from Karma and maybe Lux it's getting a bit... thin.
Like he kinda mentioned, and if you watch enough of these it might be obvious, but if players just don't want to touch a champ in a specific role, they won't balance for that role. Look at his brand comments. They buffed brand jungle because when they tried it, he got enough play rate of people in JG that it's worth balancing around

@@narfidy444 The reason people didnt play her mid is simply because they screwed up during the release. Support items such as flowing water and most others were overtuned to the roof so it made sera support viable which then pushed sera recommended items and role into support, after they nerfed the items, sera support became unplayable which is why her support winrate became so low compared to mid/bot, but by then it was too late. Any new player that wanted to try seraphine got recommended support items and role which made every casual hop onto support with her increasing the playercount difference. But then again I guess it might not have mattered in the long run as most support players run around with 0 thinking and only hoping that riot keeps giving them free power. They'd run it down on Gwen support too if she had a single cc ability.
What do you think of making vayne passive scale with level but reverting the nerf? I.e. Vayne gains 5 move speed towards enemies per level, capping at 45 at level 9.

Hey Phreak, any possibility you could take a look at Rell in jungle would love some base damage to help with clear speeds or scaling damage from tanks stats and not ap.
Early data shows supp seraphine actually overtook bot seraphine by a significant amount, which means balancing should be much easier. I'm happy to see that personally (I play ap carry seraphine)
I dont understand how Celestial is a tank item. Tanks usually have tankyness built in their kit. Squishy champs benefit from the dmg reduction way more. Survivability or lets say "time to get bursted/ taken down" gives way more % for squishies than for tanks.
he talked about it before , your reasoning is exactly why i pick up celestial on mage supports that damage reduction self peel pairs well with HP from AP items to provide you with decent survivability while you're building full damage
Damage reduction stacks multiplicatively with armor/Mr so is more effective on tanky units. It also is more effective with more HP. Also squishy champs often are being overkilled so care less about defensive stats

any word on Naafiri jungle? You said a while back when she got her last change that you guys were only worrying about balancing her properly for mid, then once you had that you would maybe take a look at jungle. All of her AD assassin peers have support as junglers as well, and i’d really like to be able to play the champion in that role.

I'm usually on the same page as you when it comes to changes, but as someone that's played rek'sai since release, i think its the first time im not on the same page. Your initial explanation was good, and i agreed with the direction that you wanted to push rek'sai, but the execution definitely needs a little more work. E true damage is part of her identity, and rek mains would greatly appreciate if it was brought back, even if with lower ratios than before. Aside from that, im sure that youll balance her fine, i hope.
Hey Phreak, i have a question. Is there any intention to add/return Ksante mechanics in the near/long future? I dont even mean Buffs, but like changes to add more skill expression and allow for more flashy plays to make up for the ones lost in 13.20

He was really, really bad for 90% of the playerbase, maybe even more and OP for the remaining. So, it seems very very unlikely they will add back in more skill expression as he's still a very pro focused champ.
@@lubue5795 Yeah i get that. But a champion can have skill expression and not be a proplay menace, per example Riven,Gp,Irelia. My understanding is that right now K'Sante is abused in proplay mainly because of his warden aspects, great peel and solid level scaling making him a great blind pick, so if they shift some power from tank into All Out and give him some kind of combo mechanics during his ult (that only increase his damage and not cc like the examples above) i think that would not affect proplay too much and could be a fun way to reward good K'sante players.

A big reason why K'Sante is so strong in proplay is, as you correctly said, his warden and tank capabilities as that way, even if his lane doesn't go well, he can always provide as strong and durable frontline. However, and this is the bigger reason in my opinion for his success, he can also become a very strong bruiser. So, K'sante just provides the same benefit as a bruiser and diver like Jax and Aatrox would as being able to carry, split and almost assassinate squishies, while not bringing the same drawback in the form that if he falls behind, he'll be useless. After all, he's still a tank so even if behind, he will still tank a lot and be able to provide decent peel. And I don't think implementing the changes you proposed could fix that as K'Sante will just always have better tank and warden capabilities than any bruiser, because that's simply his role. He's a tank. So, if they wanted to lessen the gap between pro and casual, then I honestly think they need to put further nerfsor rather changes onto his ult to shift him more make him more tanky there but deal less damage. Because as long as he makes for a decent to good bruiser during his ult, he will always be a go to bruiser to pick as he can always fill the tank role better than bruisers can. They would really have to push him into being a full on bruiser all the time for that not to be the case. And that's really not what they should do as K'Sante is supposed to be a tank and not a bruiser.
56:28 : Rek'sai is feeling a lot better than before but still some bugs / feel bad stuff. I don't think the Q auto-attack not canceling has been implemented. - Her Q auto-attack reset can cancel an attack that is "just about" to hit, causing you to do less damage. Might want to set a conditional for her Q so that if she is already in an auto-attack and that auto-attack has fewer animation frames left than it would take for her Q to hit, you just apply the Q to that hit (or on the next hit but don't reset the current auto-attack). - If you auto-attack click while burrowed sometimes she won't be in range to knock up an enemy. You might want to hard code it so her target always gets knocked up from the attack so even if they just step outside it still "hits" (but obviously not for the other AoE parts). - Her tunnels can be blocked by allies and minions standing on the entrance. Wish there was better logic around knowing when to use it despite not clicking on it directly (especially with other stuff in the way). Also, you might want to put more HP damage mods on her kit to encourage tankier in-and-out gameplay without sacrificing so much damage. If her knockup damage had some HP scaling it might feel a lot more meaningful and interesting to use outside of just the CC pattern.
yeah reksais design is kind of bad for a bruiser. very hard to stay in range for extended periods of time because no movespeed buff etc. she became a burst assassin cuz she's better built for short bursts. Dash in, auto attack 3 times and press E during knockup, R to finish off or target swap. most other bruisers have ways to stick on their target/ignore or heavily reduce slows/cc etc
@@orshabaal8990A bruiser is not necessarily a champ who needs to stay in range. Bruisers are champs who deal strong damage but can also take a beating while having a limited tools of engage. Rek'Sai is not really a DPS character and her kit also doesn't favor long auto attack battles, there you're absolutely right. But that doesn't mean she isn't a bruiser nor that she's an assassin. In fact the limited mobility you mention is a stronger argument against her being an assassin as she has no tools to get out of the fight, once she's in. She doesn't have the Eve ult, Zed ult or Fizz mobility to get out. The reason Rek'Sai would go full lethality is because the champion scaled so abhorrently poorly into the late game. She and Elise were very unique in that regard as they both relied so heavily on having strong and oppressive earlygames that they just couldn't afford to not build damage. After all, to close games quickly, they need damage to kill enemies and pose a threat. Both don't really have an assassin kit as both have fairly slow and high CD mobility spells, strong CC and some DPS tools. But they had to play these full damage oneshot styles because they just couldn't manage the late game. Well for Elise that's still the case.
Other classes have their own unique items for counterplay against the strength of another class. Zhonyas to counter assassins. AS slows and crit reduction for tanks. On hit heals for bruisers. Not every class needs item properties of another.
@@Minon157 Because shields and heals are not the same. You can wait out a shield or they can waste it. That's typically not the case for a heal. Most classes have tools to deal with shields. Mages can bait them out using their range and then punish after. ADCs typically have the DPS to shred through them and they're also ranged so can bait them out, though it's a bit harder. Tanks and bruisers have CC and tankyness to wait till the shield runs out as most shields only last for a short time. But assassins don't have that. They can't wait with their burst as they are squishy and need to get out quickly as well, they typically don't have a lot of range and they in general have not very strong CC. So their role simply has the least tools to deal with shields. Furthermore, the sole reason you play an assassin is to kill one target quickly. A mage has done his job when he junks enemies so they have to back. ADCs do a very similar job here. Tanks and bruiser meanwhile want to soak up damage and buy their carries space by zoning threatening. Of course, all those classes also somewhat rely on killing but by no means as much as assassins. So, assassins simply need this type of items the most.
@@Minon157bc if every class had access then shields would need to get giga buffed to compensate. Most of the champions who have shields are completely reliant on those shields for durability.
The Seraphine launch always puzzled me. The (somewhat reductive) pitch I heard was "mid lane Sona" but multiple kit aspects scale by number of nearby allies. I'm confused why she had kit elements explicitly be better with number of allies if the goal was a mid enchanter/mage. Yeah her shield had level scaling but it was anemic as was the damage on the notes from levels and both scaled way better with gold (ahh do I miss 7.5% AP ratio on notes and the old formula for note damage; maxing out over 10x base damage as opposed to 5 was so fun). Here's hoping she gets in a better state with these changes.
Because midlane mages with supportive elements like Karma, Hwei, Lux, ect want to group midgame? And Seraphine's kit went full throttle with that. Like you said, her kit scaled well with gold, and some with exp. How people concluded "yes, the best role for her is the one that gets the least amount of gold and exp" is beyond me. Honestly they could have avoided this by locking the notes on allies to lvl 9 or something...

yep, simple and easy fix. After that introduce more counterplay to blue kayn's E, either you can reduce his speed with hitting him or maybe even knock him out if you hit him with a skillshot. After that you can just buff to compensate but he'd be more fair to play against.

great break killed kain to the blue lethal hydra and the fact that it is collected by aatrox Riven being not assassins is somehow normal, the assassin does not buy the best item from the lethal, but the bruiser buys and interacts with it normally, so you do the balance of the game

Please do something about ADC. Everyone and their mother knows the role is terrible. Pros, streamers, analysts, coaches, everyone except the balance team. There is so much damage in every role in Season 14 that ADCs aren't allowed to play within 2 screens of anyone on the enemy team without risk of getting one shot. Even a mid lane mage who's down 0/4 can miss half their abilities and still bring an ADC to half hp. There is less incentive than ever for their teammates to peel for them. The only thing they can hope to do is win lane and snowball that into an objective or two before having to play super safe for the rest of the game. The only difference between winning and losing lane on ADC is whether you're useless from the start of the game or whether you become useless after the enemy starts picking up their burst items. It's objectively correct in current solo queue right now to abandon the ADC role entirely and just play mages instead, and it has been correct for around a year now. The only ADCs that can work at all are the ones that either have giga busted individual champion stats, or the ones that can abuse lethality items. Please make Crit items give 25% again. Please revert the 8.11 marksman health regen nerfs. Please nerf how overloaded support items are. Please make ADC defensive items not be the worst items in the game. Please reduce the penalty for sharing EXP with your support. Please increase bot lane turret damage to discourage the nonstop 4 man dives on the 0/4 marksman that are somehow still worth it. And please stop kidding yourself when you say ADC is in a perfectly fine state when every single change of the preseason was either a direct or indirect nerf towards them.
Hi Phreak, I'm asking about Maokai Jungle. I think it's good that Maokai is playable and played in the Jungle. What I don't understand (and why I ask) is why you and your team want to avoid making someone like a Nautilus more playable in the jungle. Are the champions not equal in CC level? or are there other reasons why Nautilus should not be played in jungle?
I’m guessing it’s mostly off of how players reacted to the champs when they were viable in jungle. I don’t have data to back this up, but from what I can remember players have historically been fine playing as and playing against a decently strong Maokai JG, but have been less okay with a strong Nautilus JG. A way to check this would be to find periods where Naut JG and Maokai JG have near identical winrates and then compare their pick and ban rates to see how much players want to play as/against them.
Maokai has been meta for over a year now. It's not shocking the 55 game maokai support player who refuses to nerf support is keeping both support AND maokai op. He will probably fix them after the split so he can finish challenger this season and call himself a good player
Can you make it so that the team that causes a dodge gets +5 lp in champ select? If I pick Rammus into an all AD enemy team and they dodge, it feels like I was punished for making the optimal pick. X3
Again I think you guys are misunderstanding why Sera is more played supp than other lanes. It's similar to why Senna isn't. It's just easier on the player playing them to play supp. All the bad parts of both champs aren't felt as much by the player playing support, they're felt by the adc. When a senna doesn't know to trade and use w and e to zone properly or she's against a champ that counters her, she can just stay back and soak exp, it's the adc that will feel like they're playing a 1v2. The same goes for Sera, she didn't get QoL buffs in mid so players kept playing her supp even after the initial mistake on her main role because again, it's the adc that feels horrible in early game because of how bad she is support and unlike Senna she doesn't even scale as well in the role, you're better off just playing APC with the support items included in the build. The nerfing the wave clear to buff missle speed and movespeed (edit: along with the armour buff that happened recently) are honestly things that would have probably skyrocketed her mid play rate if all the other changes up until now didn't happen first. Those changes I think will even increase her bot play rate even more than her supp because mobility and landing abilities was usually a non-issue for supports because the duo lane helped a lot with that since the supp isn't usually the focus for pressure. If these QoL changes happened without screwing with her solo lane mana makeup and the nerfing of the passive ap ratios and removal of level scalings Sera would have probably been a great champ enjoyed by many mid and apc players with the occasional supp mage player. As is, I don't think these changes will hit how you expect them to and the dynamic that has persisted since her release will continue, maybe this will even just tank her supp play rate somewhat.
Sadly people don't actually consider the context of a champ, and just go "oh, a single utility button on a long cooldown? Must be a support!" and then ignore just how gold and exp dependent they are, and just try to shove her in the support role till Riot fundamentally changes how she works to make it viable.
As a botlane seraphine Main for almost 1,5 years now i can definitely tell you that i dont want to Max Q->E. Her W and her waveclear were THE Main reasons why this Champion was fun to play. You dont have to be a huge dps output even as "carry" seraphine. But a nice waveclear and Utility Tool for ur Team, what makes sense if you think about her kit. Her E is AOE CC her W AOE Shield, heal AND movespeed, her ult is also a big AOE CC. imo: give her less dmg in teamfights, but pls let her be able to kill a fcking canon minion that shit feels frustrating rn
So when are we gonna address Asol? Since his mini rework he's been sitting in the top three in terms of win rate (around 53%), and while everyone around him is getting nerfed, he is just forgotten. I'm sorry but how is giving a late game champ good early game suddenly ok? He literally has no counterplay anymore and is mechanically one of the easiest champs in the game. He flies at you, perma slows with rylais and just outdamages you. How is this fine?
Senna feels reasonable as a support in soloq and broken everywhere else because support players blow at playing marksmen and she's overtuned, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out
Fiora has infinite scaling true damage passive if you take Gathering Storm. Hecarim Q, Syndra W and Tahm Kench passive/Q all have exponential scaling. That said, they aren't nearly as problematic to deal with as Smolder is, hence his astronomically higher ban rate.

Storm surge and Lich babe should be unique against each other. This way they can be brought to similar power levels but not add insane item damage to burst champs. If you are akali you like Stormsurge, if you are Victor, you like lich name

It’s actually not bugged, but rather than right clicking, choose your direction quickly and then left click to lock in where you’d like to go. I was griefing heralds as well, now I haven’t missed one in over a week. Try it out in practice tool.
It literally works 100% of the time. Hold right click to enter and continue holding right click to pick your direction. Don't release until you have ran it into something. What the hell is wrong that people can't figure this out
The most frustrating thing is that Maokai and Janna are good for so long when there champ that been under 50 for month (if not years). And when your champ is bad for soo long while others allowed to be that good you start searching for connections
check Phreak's account stat, guess how did he get to masters? Maokai/Janna spam literary, he does not give a fuck that 2 champs every role overbuffed so others are completely useless, this degenerate is so bad at game balance. This is also a reason why support has so much power in game and so easy to play meanwhile, compare to adc that nerfed every possible way meanwhile have to play perfectly as 1 wrong step=death.

Weirdly enough, Nilah scales REALLY aggressively with game time. Her 4+ item win rate is SUPER high, but since her early is actually garbage, she is both a niche pick and mostly balanced.

I strongly recommend that going back to patch 14.3 for reksai. You never play reksai when she was reworked. You never know how weak she is. 14.3 is the perfect patch for reksai which is playable to user
If you are saying that you balance for the 'feel' of a champion, could you please have a look at how you could buff/adjust fiddlesticks. He has been feeling really weak since the beginning of the season, especially with the removal of mythic rocketbelt.

Have you tried to play ADC under master? I've main the role for 8 years, since I started playing league. Infact if I didn't play adc, I probably woudln't play league regularly. The role is at his worst at has never been. With support being as strong as ever, adc has lost even more impact than ever. Crit items are terrible, and had become worse and worse with time. Adc used to be a role (for most crit marksmen) were your champ was really weak for 25 mins, but as soon as you got 3 items, you started feeling powerfull and slowly becoming the "right boss" as you curved into lategame and into fullbuild. Nowadays, with items and map changes, adc feels a support role, were you either are gonna be carried by your support, mid and jungle and get some items, or be dived in repeat by enemy mid-jungle on repeat and pray for top-mid-jng-supp to do something on the other side of the map and be useless for the rest of the game till you win or lose. Marksman feels just a pointless and unfun role right now.

Playing a couple of games with new reksai, she generally feels so much better in every aspect EXCEPT for how absurdly buggy her W is. In a single match it failed to knock up champs around 14 times (i clipped every time it happened and counted afterwards).
Hi! On the topic of Smolder's winrate vs game length curve not being so extreme at later intervals of gametime, I am curious if you omitted early forfeits from the sum. When I look at the numbers with just Nexus destruction on 14.4, he is not sitting around 51-52 (I forget the exact number mentioned) but much higher.
When are we gonna understand from the balance team side that maokai sitting at 52% wr last season doesnt make the champion fine, it was the combination of the 52% and the low pickrate, if taric suddenly jumps to 15% pickrate, he's gonna need big nerfs as well.
Please riot, it's a combination of pickrate and winrate, you seemed to understand this task when you nerfed fizz this season to 49%wr even if last season he was at 52%, BUT FOR SOME REASON, FOR MAOKAI, you just want to bring him back to 52%.
When a champion is obnoxious like maokai, if he gains popularity, just put him at 50%wr, until pickrate drops, then do w/e u want with him idc at that point anymore.
Was the Leona W visual bug fixed yet? Her halo falls off when the explosion happens, but it's supposed to stay for the duration of her extended armor and mr buff if she hits something. It's been broken for at least half a year at this point

The champ hasn't been killed, but is significantly more clunky and shitty to play. E is slow as shit unless you're dashing to something and W is clunky as fuck in normal and all out form, plus you still got the bug that locks you out for the full duration so there's that.
Imo they didn't make the champ weaker, buy they made him significantly more unsatisfying to play and so much more clunky than before his rework.
But hey that's just Phreak decision making at its finest.
In patch 13.20 he says scaling percent health true damage is "illegal" and in this patch he decides to give Smolder the "illegal" scaling buff.
I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna end up with an op as shit Smolder in the next patch with a winrate of 54-55% while K'sante winrate might go up to a whopping 47% in diamond 2 and above.

Just some comments on Maiden. Last time i attempted this, when Neeko disguises herself as Maiden, she does no damage. Also, either Maiden's autos should apply Malignance, OR when Yorick attacks the target marked by Maiden it should be applied.
I get why the Sera changes are being made and why she's not being balanced for Mid, but damn does it blow to lose another champ. I just like playing supportive midlaners and aside from Karma and maybe Lux it's getting a bit... thin.
Like he kinda mentioned, and if you watch enough of these it might be obvious, but if players just don't want to touch a champ in a specific role, they won't balance for that role.
Look at his brand comments. They buffed brand jungle because when they tried it, he got enough play rate of people in JG that it's worth balancing around

@@narfidy444 The reason people didnt play her mid is simply because they screwed up during the release. Support items such as flowing water and most others were overtuned to the roof so it made sera support viable which then pushed sera recommended items and role into support, after they nerfed the items, sera support became unplayable which is why her support winrate became so low compared to mid/bot, but by then it was too late. Any new player that wanted to try seraphine got recommended support items and role which made every casual hop onto support with her increasing the playercount difference.
But then again I guess it might not have mattered in the long run as most support players run around with 0 thinking and only hoping that riot keeps giving them free power. They'd run it down on Gwen support too if she had a single cc ability.

Hey Phreak, any possibility you could take a look at Rell in jungle would love some base damage to help with clear speeds or scaling damage from tanks stats and not ap.
Early data shows supp seraphine actually overtook bot seraphine by a significant amount, which means balancing should be much easier. I'm happy to see that personally (I play ap carry seraphine)
I dont understand how Celestial is a tank item. Tanks usually have tankyness built in their kit. Squishy champs benefit from the dmg reduction way more. Survivability or lets say "time to get bursted/ taken down" gives way more % for squishies than for tanks.

Damage reduction stacks multiplicatively with armor/Mr so is more effective on tanky units. It also is more effective with more HP. Also squishy champs often are being overkilled so care less about defensive stats

Your initial explanation was good, and i agreed with the direction that you wanted to push rek'sai, but the execution definitely needs a little more work.

He was really, really bad for 90% of the playerbase, maybe even more and OP for the remaining. So, it seems very very unlikely they will add back in more skill expression as he's still a very pro focused champ.

My understanding is that right now K'Sante is abused in proplay mainly because of his warden aspects, great peel and solid level scaling making him a great blind pick, so if they shift some power from tank into All Out and give him some kind of combo mechanics during his ult (that only increase his damage and not cc like the examples above) i think that would not affect proplay too much and could be a fun way to reward good K'sante players.

A big reason why K'Sante is so strong in proplay is, as you correctly said, his warden and tank capabilities as that way, even if his lane doesn't go well, he can always provide as strong and durable frontline.
However, and this is the bigger reason in my opinion for his success, he can also become a very strong bruiser. So, K'sante just provides the same benefit as a bruiser and diver like Jax and Aatrox would as being able to carry, split and almost assassinate squishies, while not bringing the same drawback in the form that if he falls behind, he'll be useless. After all, he's still a tank so even if behind, he will still tank a lot and be able to provide decent peel.
And I don't think implementing the changes you proposed could fix that as K'Sante will just always have better tank and warden capabilities than any bruiser, because that's simply his role. He's a tank.
So, if they wanted to lessen the gap between pro and casual, then I honestly think they need to put further nerfsor rather changes onto his ult to shift him more make him more tanky there but deal less damage. Because as long as he makes for a decent to good bruiser during his ult, he will always be a go to bruiser to pick as he can always fill the tank role better than bruisers can. They would really have to push him into being a full on bruiser all the time for that not to be the case. And that's really not what they should do as K'Sante is supposed to be a tank and not a bruiser.
56:28 : Rek'sai is feeling a lot better than before but still some bugs / feel bad stuff. I don't think the Q auto-attack not canceling has been implemented.
- Her Q auto-attack reset can cancel an attack that is "just about" to hit, causing you to do less damage. Might want to set a conditional for her Q so that if she is already in an auto-attack and that auto-attack has fewer animation frames left than it would take for her Q to hit, you just apply the Q to that hit (or on the next hit but don't reset the current auto-attack).
- If you auto-attack click while burrowed sometimes she won't be in range to knock up an enemy. You might want to hard code it so her target always gets knocked up from the attack so even if they just step outside it still "hits" (but obviously not for the other AoE parts).
- Her tunnels can be blocked by allies and minions standing on the entrance. Wish there was better logic around knowing when to use it despite not clicking on it directly (especially with other stuff in the way).
Also, you might want to put more HP damage mods on her kit to encourage tankier in-and-out gameplay without sacrificing so much damage. If her knockup damage had some HP scaling it might feel a lot more meaningful and interesting to use outside of just the CC pattern.

yeah reksais design is kind of bad for a bruiser. very hard to stay in range for extended periods of time because no movespeed buff etc. she became a burst assassin cuz she's better built for short bursts. Dash in, auto attack 3 times and press E during knockup, R to finish off or target swap. most other bruisers have ways to stick on their target/ignore or heavily reduce slows/cc etc

Bruisers are champs who deal strong damage but can also take a beating while having a limited tools of engage. Rek'Sai is not really a DPS character and her kit also doesn't favor long auto attack battles, there you're absolutely right. But that doesn't mean she isn't a bruiser nor that she's an assassin.
In fact the limited mobility you mention is a stronger argument against her being an assassin as she has no tools to get out of the fight, once she's in. She doesn't have the Eve ult, Zed ult or Fizz mobility to get out.
The reason Rek'Sai would go full lethality is because the champion scaled so abhorrently poorly into the late game. She and Elise were very unique in that regard as they both relied so heavily on having strong and oppressive earlygames that they just couldn't afford to not build damage. After all, to close games quickly, they need damage to kill enemies and pose a threat. Both don't really have an assassin kit as both have fairly slow and high CD mobility spells, strong CC and some DPS tools. But they had to play these full damage oneshot styles because they just couldn't manage the late game.
Well for Elise that's still the case.
Rek'sai will sometimes not knock up Champions with auto attack from burrow with this patch. Please fix.

Other classes have their own unique items for counterplay against the strength of another class. Zhonyas to counter assassins. AS slows and crit reduction for tanks. On hit heals for bruisers. Not every class needs item properties of another.

@@Minon157 Because shields and heals are not the same. You can wait out a shield or they can waste it. That's typically not the case for a heal.
Most classes have tools to deal with shields. Mages can bait them out using their range and then punish after. ADCs typically have the DPS to shred through them and they're also ranged so can bait them out, though it's a bit harder. Tanks and bruisers have CC and tankyness to wait till the shield runs out as most shields only last for a short time.
But assassins don't have that. They can't wait with their burst as they are squishy and need to get out quickly as well, they typically don't have a lot of range and they in general have not very strong CC. So their role simply has the least tools to deal with shields.
Furthermore, the sole reason you play an assassin is to kill one target quickly.
A mage has done his job when he junks enemies so they have to back. ADCs do a very similar job here. Tanks and bruiser meanwhile want to soak up damage and buy their carries space by zoning threatening. Of course, all those classes also somewhat rely on killing but by no means as much as assassins.
So, assassins simply need this type of items the most.
@@Minon157bc if every class had access then shields would need to get giga buffed to compensate. Most of the champions who have shields are completely reliant on those shields for durability.

The Seraphine launch always puzzled me. The (somewhat reductive) pitch I heard was "mid lane Sona" but multiple kit aspects scale by number of nearby allies. I'm confused why she had kit elements explicitly be better with number of allies if the goal was a mid enchanter/mage. Yeah her shield had level scaling but it was anemic as was the damage on the notes from levels and both scaled way better with gold (ahh do I miss 7.5% AP ratio on notes and the old formula for note damage; maxing out over 10x base damage as opposed to 5 was so fun). Here's hoping she gets in a better state with these changes.
Because midlane mages with supportive elements like Karma, Hwei, Lux, ect want to group midgame? And Seraphine's kit went full throttle with that.
Like you said, her kit scaled well with gold, and some with exp. How people concluded "yes, the best role for her is the one that gets the least amount of gold and exp" is beyond me.

Please do something about ADC. Everyone and their mother knows the role is terrible. Pros, streamers, analysts, coaches, everyone except the balance team. There is so much damage in every role in Season 14 that ADCs aren't allowed to play within 2 screens of anyone on the enemy team without risk of getting one shot. Even a mid lane mage who's down 0/4 can miss half their abilities and still bring an ADC to half hp. There is less incentive than ever for their teammates to peel for them. The only thing they can hope to do is win lane and snowball that into an objective or two before having to play super safe for the rest of the game. The only difference between winning and losing lane on ADC is whether you're useless from the start of the game or whether you become useless after the enemy starts picking up their burst items. It's objectively correct in current solo queue right now to abandon the ADC role entirely and just play mages instead, and it has been correct for around a year now. The only ADCs that can work at all are the ones that either have giga busted individual champion stats, or the ones that can abuse lethality items. Please make Crit items give 25% again. Please revert the 8.11 marksman health regen nerfs. Please nerf how overloaded support items are. Please make ADC defensive items not be the worst items in the game. Please reduce the penalty for sharing EXP with your support. Please increase bot lane turret damage to discourage the nonstop 4 man dives on the 0/4 marksman that are somehow still worth it. And please stop kidding yourself when you say ADC is in a perfectly fine state when every single change of the preseason was either a direct or indirect nerf towards them.

I think it's good that Maokai is playable and played in the Jungle. What I don't understand (and why I ask) is why you and your team want to avoid making someone like a Nautilus more playable in the jungle. Are the champions not equal in CC level? or are there other reasons why Nautilus should not be played in jungle?

I’m guessing it’s mostly off of how players reacted to the champs when they were viable in jungle. I don’t have data to back this up, but from what I can remember players have historically been fine playing as and playing against a decently strong Maokai JG, but have been less okay with a strong Nautilus JG. A way to check this would be to find periods where Naut JG and Maokai JG have near identical winrates and then compare their pick and ban rates to see how much players want to play as/against them.
Maokai has been meta for over a year now. It's not shocking the 55 game maokai support player who refuses to nerf support is keeping both support AND maokai op. He will probably fix them after the split so he can finish challenger this season and call himself a good player
Can you make it so that the team that causes a dodge gets +5 lp in champ select? If I pick Rammus into an all AD enemy team and they dodge, it feels like I was punished for making the optimal pick. X3

Again I think you guys are misunderstanding why Sera is more played supp than other lanes. It's similar to why Senna isn't. It's just easier on the player playing them to play supp. All the bad parts of both champs aren't felt as much by the player playing support, they're felt by the adc.
When a senna doesn't know to trade and use w and e to zone properly or she's against a champ that counters her, she can just stay back and soak exp, it's the adc that will feel like they're playing a 1v2. The same goes for Sera, she didn't get QoL buffs in mid so players kept playing her supp even after the initial mistake on her main role because again, it's the adc that feels horrible in early game because of how bad she is support and unlike Senna she doesn't even scale as well in the role, you're better off just playing APC with the support items included in the build.
The nerfing the wave clear to buff missle speed and movespeed (edit: along with the armour buff that happened recently) are honestly things that would have probably skyrocketed her mid play rate if all the other changes up until now didn't happen first. Those changes I think will even increase her bot play rate even more than her supp because mobility and landing abilities was usually a non-issue for supports because the duo lane helped a lot with that since the supp isn't usually the focus for pressure.
If these QoL changes happened without screwing with her solo lane mana makeup and the nerfing of the passive ap ratios and removal of level scalings Sera would have probably been a great champ enjoyed by many mid and apc players with the occasional supp mage player. As is, I don't think these changes will hit how you expect them to and the dynamic that has persisted since her release will continue, maybe this will even just tank her supp play rate somewhat.
Sadly people don't actually consider the context of a champ, and just go "oh, a single utility button on a long cooldown? Must be a support!" and then ignore just how gold and exp dependent they are, and just try to shove her in the support role till Riot fundamentally changes how she works to make it viable.
To be fair people play damage dealing mages as supports, so at this point im surpised riot has balacned every champ to support @@the_last_ballad

As a botlane seraphine Main for almost 1,5 years now i can definitely tell you that i dont want to Max Q->E. Her W and her waveclear were THE Main reasons why this Champion was fun to play. You dont have to be a huge dps output even as "carry" seraphine. But a nice waveclear and Utility Tool for ur Team, what makes sense if you think about her kit. Her E is AOE CC her W AOE Shield, heal AND movespeed, her ult is also a big AOE CC.
imo: give her less dmg in teamfights, but pls let her be able to kill a fcking canon minion that shit feels frustrating rn
So when are we gonna address Asol? Since his mini rework he's been sitting in the top three in terms of win rate (around 53%), and while everyone around him is getting nerfed, he is just forgotten. I'm sorry but how is giving a late game champ good early game suddenly ok? He literally has no counterplay anymore and is mechanically one of the easiest champs in the game. He flies at you, perma slows with rylais and just outdamages you. How is this fine?
Senna feels reasonable as a support in soloq and broken everywhere else because support players blow at playing marksmen and she's overtuned, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out
Smolder now has the first exponentially scaling ability in E and the first infinitely scaling true damage % HP ability
Fiora has infinite scaling true damage passive if you take Gathering Storm.
Hecarim Q, Syndra W and Tahm Kench passive/Q all have exponential scaling.
That said, they aren't nearly as problematic to deal with as Smolder is, hence his astronomically higher ban rate.

Ghouls attacking champions draw minion aggro to yorick (riot fixed it but only for their first auto, great attempt)
champs attacking yorick will draw ghoul aggro to stop him from attacking tower
Using ult will reveal yorick if hes in bush when used outside of bush sometimes but not always
The horrific coding for ghouls attacking jgl camps, especially raptors and mini krugs
Using ult in morde ult will instakill it when they leave the realm
With him being in this patch and the next, would be nice if you lot did some long needed bugfixes for his multiple game altering issues

Hey Phreak, would love some insight of where your team is taking ksante. He is the worst chanpion in the game by winrste in all elos under masters. I used to love him and he really exemplified the ill do it myself attitude. It’s actually not bugged, but rather than right clicking, choose your direction quickly and then left click to lock in where you’d like to go. I was griefing heralds as well, now I haven’t missed one in over a week. Try it out in practice tool.
It isn't bugged just left click. It's been 3 months and you still can't figure this out
It literally works 100% of the time. Hold right click to enter and continue holding right click to pick your direction. Don't release until you have ran it into something.

I'm surprised to hear Phreak describe Jarvan as a low elo skewed champion. Jarvan seems to be a decently common pick in pro over the years.
The most frustrating thing is that Maokai and Janna are good for so long when there champ that been under 50 for month (if not years).
And when your champ is bad for soo long while others allowed to be that good you start searching for connections
check Phreak's account stat, guess how did he get to masters? Maokai/Janna spam literary, he does not give a fuck that 2 champs every role overbuffed so others are completely useless, this degenerate is so bad at game balance. This is also a reason why support has so much power in game and so easy to play meanwhile, compare to adc that nerfed every possible way meanwhile have to play perfectly as 1 wrong step=death.

Weirdly enough, Nilah scales REALLY aggressively with game time. Her 4+ item win rate is SUPER high, but since her early is actually garbage, she is both a niche pick and mostly balanced.

I think you vastly over estimate how "ranged" maiden is.
I strongly recommend that going back to patch 14.3 for reksai. You never play reksai when she was reworked. You never know how weak she is. 14.3 is the perfect patch for reksai which is playable to user
If you are saying that you balance for the 'feel' of a champion, could you please have a look at how you could buff/adjust fiddlesticks. He has been feeling really weak since the beginning of the season, especially with the removal of mythic rocketbelt.

Riot is lucky having an indepeth guy like you trying to balance this game ... which is not an easy thing to keep up with all those details. I suggest you guys be a bit proactive with dialogues with one-tricks to gather more in depth info about each champ - it will make everything easier

Have you tried to play ADC under master? I've main the role for 8 years, since I started playing league. Infact if I didn't play adc, I probably woudln't play league regularly.
The role is at his worst at has never been. With support being as strong as ever, adc has lost even more impact than ever. Crit items are terrible, and had become worse and worse with time. Adc used to be a role (for most crit marksmen) were your champ was really weak for 25 mins, but as soon as you got 3 items, you started feeling powerfull and slowly becoming the "right boss" as you curved into lategame and into fullbuild. Nowadays, with items and map changes, adc feels a support role, were you either are gonna be carried by your support, mid and jungle and get some items, or be dived in repeat by enemy mid-jungle on repeat and pray for top-mid-jng-supp to do something on the other side of the map and be useless for the rest of the game till you win or lose.
Marksman feels just a pointless and unfun role right now.
Maokai doesn't have a low pick rate anymore. The winning rate is too much right now
