  • I used to get sick, and I may get sick next week so I don’t wanna overstate the situation, but every year I used to get colds constantly-upper-respiratory things. I’d go and I’d have to get antibiotics and all of that. It’s been about seven and a half months, which for me is like a really long time to not be sick at all, and what happened in that time, and this is when you may think I’m a quack, is I started taking this, your stuff, which is basically saline water with some xylitol in it, which is a little bit of sugar. I spray it up my nose twice a day: once in the morning before the show, once at night before I go to sleep, and so far, zilch!
I’m over the moon about it, and I tell everybody that I can about it, so we decided to have Nate on the show. Nate, I tell people that I do this, and they think I’m crazy. What is in here that might be helping me?
Nate Jones: Well, there’s a number of things. The salt in there, but xylitol’s the big thing. When you use a regular saline spray, it’s 0.87 percent salt, which is isotonic and so it’ll get your nose moist for a little bit of time. I don’t wanna get too gross, but it gets your snot layer, your mucus layer moist for a short time period. There’s about a 10 percent solution of xylitol in there, and so what it does is it’s much more hyperosmotic, it’s gonna keep your nose moist for a much longer period of time, it’s gonna allow the mucus layer in your nose that cleans the air you breathe, it’s gonna allow it to trap a lot more; the viruses, the bacteria, the dander, the pollen, and get ’em washed out naturally-the way that your body’s meant and designed to be cleaned.
Sorkin: So how many times did you use this? I’m just curious.
Jones: Once a morning, once a night, just like what you said.
Sorkin: Do you? No, you have to understand this is like a big thing.
Sorkin: I feel healthier; the whole thing is crazy that I’m just squirting this stuff up my nose. I tell people I’m squirting stuff up my nose, they get a little nervous. So this is full of sugar, and dentists use it?
Jones: Dentists use it. They recommend it. It’s a sugar, but it’s different than the sugars we eat. Most the bacteria that live in our mouth, that live in our body, are up an airway in our nose. They live on 6-carbon sugars: sucrose, glucose, fructose, sorbitol, mannitol, maltitol; all of those are 6-carbon sugars. Even the sugars that are in most sugar-free chewing gum are 6 carbon sugars.
Sorkin: And I try to explain to people this isn’t like Afrin or anything like that. It’s a whole other situation. But just tell me, is there anything bad in here for me? No seriously, because I think anything that’s actually working for me could be a problem. I have read some stuff if you take too much of this, not this product, but if you were to ingest like 50 milligrams of this [xylitol] a day in rats, well I think if you ingest anything in rats that amount you can get cancer, but there have been certain things on that. Tell me about that.
Jones: There was one study that was done in Australia where they said the cancer-that’s actually been disproven numerous times. If you do eat a lot of it, like Joe said, you will get diarrhea but you’d have to eat a lot of it.
Sorkin: This is in sugar-free gum as well?
Jones: Yeah. If you go into a health foods store, almost all of the gum that you’re gonna buy is gonna be sweetened with xylitol.
Sorkin: Is anybody else doing this, putting this stuff in nasal spray?
Jones: No, we own the patents on putting it in your nose, but there is a number of-
Sorkin: How did you decide to do that?
Jones: My dad did. I was working on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico when my dad came up with it. He had a bunch of kids in his practice who were having ear infections-recurring ear infection-and he started getting on this new thing called the Internet back in the 90s on PubMed, and he saw these dental research studies where the kids were using the xylitol chewing gum. Not only were they not getting cavities but they were also getting 42% fewer ear infections. He read another study after digging into that a little more where it actually showed the xylitol reduces the ability of the bacteria; strep, pneumo, influenza, moraxella, all these bacteria live in your upper airway that cause a lot of these upper respiratory problems, but it keeps them from adhering to the tissue.
Female 1: So do you do this preventively? Can Joe start doing this and maybe see results? Will he get better, or…?
Jones: Just ’cause you’re using Flonase, those are drugs, no you should-even if you’re using Flonase you should use this because the drugs, the steroids, the antihistamines, the decongestants like Flonase, Afrin, Zicam, all of these other drugs they do their job, but their job is actually to shut down your immune system; it’s to stop your body from producing mucus and everything you’re breathing in now will go right down into your lungs.

Typical 21st century "news" people. They'd rather hear the sound of their own voice than anything on earth. I'm glad XLear posted the transcript so we could get most of what Mr Jones said. I'm just surprised that the Comcast ceo let him on the show. This type of simple, common sense treatment is not good for the bottom line of the big pharmaceutical ripoff artists, who benefit from mainstream media propaganda. Great job to Mr. Jones and his dad! Thanks!!

I've had a really raunchy sinus infection for about a month now. Symptoms: Forehead sinus pain, eye pain, temple pain and pressure. Sinus drainage that was bright yellow and constant, with an awful odor. Feeling unwell, all the time, no energy, weakness. Got antibiotics from the doctor, and they did not work. I went back to the clinic but they were closed. It's the best thing that could have happened. I had a weekend to deal with this awful condition, and it scared me. I went to the health food store to get some zinc, which is antibiotic in nature also. The person working there recommended XClear. The ingredients were unremarkable, as I already used grapefruit seed extract in my homemade sinus spray, but it didn't work either. But I had never used the Xylitol in a product, and I had heard it had antibacterial properties. The checkout person raved about it, saying a coworker there used it and praised it highly. I went to the car and immediately sprayed it up my nose. I felt a flood of mucus pour down my throat. The rest of the night I used it, and went through a box of tissues trying to clear stuff out. Today is the second day. I used it again a couple of times today. But the drainage is now clear. Much less of it, too. I decided to wait until bedtime to use it again, so as to let the sinuses regroup. I have had some drainage, but it's all clear. I didn't feel too well earlier, but it may take a few days before I get it all out of my system. The difference is astounding. I thought the infection was literally going to kill me. Seriously, I was so sick. This stuff stopped it in it's tracks. I did take zinc yesterday and today, but don't know if that helped or not. Just one tablet each day. I am about 80% better in just one day. I hope this helps someone, as I fully expect to recover completely.

@@cafeconlechegrl be careful with taking OTC products with zinc in it. Thousands of people have lost their ability to taste and/or smell using zinc products. If you don't believe just Google the class action lawsuit that was won against zicam. Try the xclear it works. I'm also using Breathe Free made by Herbology. Try your best to stay away from zinc and afrin. Afrin is the devil.

I love this stuff and never leave home without it! I pump a squirt into each nasal passage before going into a public place, and after I get home, and a couple hours later for extra protection. My mother, in her 90s, also uses it, and has not had any significant respiratory sickness in the last 2 years.

Flonase stopped working for me years ago and the worse part was that mostly all the doctors I went to would give me the same nasal spray and medication for my sinuses that did nothing but steal so much money. The only spray that was working for me was Piyenchin made in Hubei China (it’s for eyes and nose) and recently they changed the ingredients so I was desperate to find something good. I started early this morning using Xclear Rescue and now it’s 12:30 AM and although I wouldn’t say I’m perfectly breathing but I can say I’m
not as bad as I was this morning I can actually breath through one of my nostrils and the other side is almost getting better so I’m hoping that tomorrow or within a few more days I’ll be breathing completely 100%.

I tell everyone about this. Sinus infections for years. Lived on Sudafed. Haven’t had a sinus problem for three years after starting this. Zero. Zilch. My kids all have their own. We really take a lot during flu season. No colds, no flu. It also kills bacteria that causes pneumonia, etc. Better than a flu vaccine (or at least in concert). Flu connected with bacteria is the leading cause of flu deaths. The 1918 flu epidemic that killed thousands all had cultures with bacteria. Xylitol kills the bacteria.

For a dry nose, take some shea or cocoa butter on a cotton swab, and just swab the sides of your nostrils every evening. Personally I don't mind the smell of cocoa butter, but purified shea butters have less smell. You can also use some neosporin or petroleum jelly the same way to moisturize your nostrils. Just don't get it high enough to breathe it in to your sinuses, only apply a thin film. You can rub some coconut oil on your gums, like you'd apply lip balm to your lips, it lasts longer than the Biotene products. Also it may sound simple, but make sure you are hydrated. I take medications that cause a dry mouth, and it's so uncomfortable! I have to sip water and use xylitol lozenges throughout the day. These tips are from my doctor, they even make mouth swabs with coconut oil and xylitol for people who are hospitalized because they often get dry mouths. They look like sponge lollipops. A medical supply store might have them.

I guess you don't wash your hands either so the germs can boost your immunity. Humans have been letting their bodies do it naturally until the 20th century when we finally got effective vaccines and antibiotics. Not surprisingly that is when child mortality went way down and life expectancy went up.
