In all of my years of being prescribed nasal sprays, not once has anyone showed me how to actually use it. Thank you for the informative and straight to the point video.
You would think the doctor would show you how to use on when he prescribes it wouldn't you? No good though if it still doesn't work (I should know I've tried dozens). Only thing that helped my sinus issues was a natural nasal spray I got three months back that has cinnamon, cumin and manuka in it. Haven't used it since and I'm sorry but I keep forgetting its blasted name! At least now I can sleep at night and I'm not plagued with my sinus issues.
I bet in all your years of being prescribed nasal sprays, not once has a doctor explained the relationship between allergies and diet. Diet can suppress your immune system which has direct impact on allergies. Your doc will have no problem giving you prednisone, only 1% chance your hips disintegrate into dust, or developing cushings disease, or hypertension, or diabetes. I went from blowing my nose 100x per day for years and having terrible polyps to my nose being 90% open and never runny. Don't eat anything processed. Everything cooked from scratch. No bad oils. Eat lots of quality meat, very limited heavy carbs like bread, lots of vegetables, herbs and seasonings, limited amount of fruit, as basic as possible.
@Chris Hayes that's too tall of an order not everyone has time for all of that dieting and eating the right things all of the time. Truth is. Some people just have bad allergic rhinitis. I'm not saying it wouldn't behoove one to be more mindful of what they eat and to minimize things like sugar to low amounts
It's ridiculous that doctors prescribe this without giving proper instructions on how to use it! The directions in the box aren't even very clear!! No wonder I'm not seeing any improvement after using this for several weeks!
Agreed! Also heard it can almost take up to a month for it to start actually kicking in where you can start seeing the results. Not sure though this is the first time for me
As a person who generally struggles a lot with sinus issues and has been prescribed nasal spray on numerous occasions, literally no doctor has EVER told me this! Tried it now and worked immediately!
Dear Dr. Abbas: God bless you. Am 62 years last week I experienced nasal congestion Never knew the application of this nasal spray. Then came across your. I applied as demonstrated by you. It's remarkable. Many thanks
Did this for the first time and I gotta say, you can feel it spray in your nostrils at the right location. Nobody ever taught me this after all these years 😂
Wow.... thank you very much. I think the problem in the medical field is ultimately time. Simple things like this yes Ive been told dozens of times how to do this and always ended up with repeated bloody nose and it took me 10 times of watching you do it until I was ready to do it WITH you to realize Ive never done it correctly. Some people comprehension is slower than others and directions aren't always clear and here I am almost 30 and I've just now used it correctly for the first time. Thank you very much. I'm glad we have these outlets to learn at our own pace.
I been doing this wrong for years no wonder why I hates taking this !! Thanks for showing me the right way to take it it feels so much better and not leaking in the back of my throat
Thanks for pointing me to this video! I have been using Flonase for a few years and I have been doing in wrong. Dr. Abbas cauterized a blood vessel for me several months ago in my left nostril, but occasionally after use I would still have slight, not severe nose bleeds. I'm left handed and typically use my left hand for the spray. I apparently have been spraying the Flonase on my septum and that's what has been causing me these nose bleeds. Obviously it's worse in the winter. This helps tremendously!
I wondered why I had a slight bloody nose in right nostril for the last couple of months. I am right handed and did not know I needed to switch hands. I was about to go to my doctor to find out what was wrong. I think I’ll give my right nostril a couple of days to heal, then start over using it the right way. Much appreciated!
God Bless you Doc! This video is really helpful. I just sprayed one nostril before seeing your video. I totllay did it wrong. I was able to taste the medicine and it was disgusting. Made me feel nauseous. So glad I ran into this video. Sincerely, Ms. Cloggy Ears. I hope this cures my clogged ears:)

I express many thanks to you! You provide much good information here. I was applying the medication incorrectly in many ways; for sure. I experience a VERY foul smell and taste from my sinuses for six weeks now and have been prescribed Flonase, which provides some relief. Hopefully, I will experience more relief after viewing your contribution to sufferers everywhere. Thanks again.....
I have a sinus infection too and it sucks. How did you get rid of it....this is my 8th day staying (and or gettin takin out of school early.) any info or tips would be great thx.
I went to the clinic today the Dr. Prescribed nasal spray but she didn't tell how to use it, it's good for me I saw this video how to use it correctly. Thanks Doctor. God Bless you.
This worked! I didn't taste it on my tongue. I was using the spray for 5 days cuz the inside of my nose got swollen and the doc said I have *rhinosinusitis* and he immediately said I needed surgery, But I had this inflammation for only 15 days, so I decided to use the medicines/sprays. I always felt the horrible taste while using it. Now I'm good thanks to you! It is really unprofessional of the doctor to not show me the proper way to do it. *Thank you again* ! I feel much better.
A great demo! Good idea to spread each nostril before spraying & always remembering to point AWAY from the septum and with the opposite hand to the nostril ur addressing...at least with Nasonex for sinusitis. Doctors are mostly quite poor at giving detailed directions for use, perhaps bcos some tend to rush you through. I find pharmacists much better, but watching a demo always helps more. On a different but related issue re good med info, recently, I discovered that using a spacer, with a puffer, gives a much more efficient delivery...this was the FIRST doctor in 25 yrs who had ever told me that!! We have to be our own doctors, sometimes! 🥺
After years of suffering and thinking these sprays don't work only to turn out that not been given clear instructions on how to use it. Great 👍 video thank you. Very informative 👏 👌
Your technique is the best, doc. Pulling the cheek really helps prevent the medicine from dripping out my nose and keeps it inside my sinuses. Much less waste. Thank you!
That was a very helpful demonstration. My ENT told me to angle it, but didn’t say which way. Watched several videos on this topic tonight and found out why I keep having nose bleeding.
Great perfect demonstration Dr . Gregory . Thank you for sharing. I noticed I was spraying it wrong , but I came across your video and now I know the correct way in order to get good results.
All these years I have been placing tip of nasall spray bottle inserted far back in my nose and inhaling deeply thru nose and staying at the same time!! Thank you MAJOR DIFFERENCE 🙏
Very nice video. The application makes all the difference. You can even massage a little bit the nostril after spraying, while simultaneously, very gently, breathing in the medication, for 10 seconds.
I've used sprays on and off for years and never imagined there was more to it. The box says "Spray 2 sprays in each nostril once every day for nasal allergies". I only clicked on the video because I thought, "Do people really need a tutorial for this?" Turns out, yes! It's kinda crazy that doctors don't explain this when they prescribe it. Thanks for the info!

The directions in the boxes I got said to stick straight up the nose and spray then breathe in through your nose. Mine always goes to my throat and I almost throw up every time it's poisoney tasting. I did what he did, angled, head down, spray and little gentle sniffs to keep it in and I don't taste it anymore until later when I (snort in) I have sinus issues so I snort a lot. I'll sneeze and end up smelling it but It doesn't run down my throat anymore. THIS is what it should say in the instructions.
Some sprays say "do not breath it in deeply after spraying" other say "breath in simultaneously while spraying it" i guess they are different formulas that's all.....
I'm confused now. The Flonase website says to plug the opposite nostril and INHALE while pumping. What you are saying makes more sense. Any idea why they are saying the opposite of you.
I was thinking the same thing about what the Flonase instructions say. I have always inhaled, too. I hope the doctor responds someday to this. And I thought it was much better to have the head back when spraying so the mist would not run out of the nose but the doctor has his head down.
In all of my years of being prescribed nasal sprays, not once has anyone showed me how to actually use it. Thank you for the informative and straight to the point video.

THANK YOU! I’ve only tried this once and failed. Just tried to show my hubby and failed. Lol. You’re video was logical and made it quite simple!
I don't know why but I found this soothing
He has a nice voice lol
Thank you for this demonstration! It never actually tells you how to properly use these things on the box, bottle, or provided instructions.
And I thought it was much better to have the head back when spraying so the mist would not run out of the nose but the doctor has his head down.
head down is to help prevent choking on anything either from the mist or something else while doing it.
I agree. Even the diagram shows covering the opposite nostril.
ohh i never read the flonase package. i'm a pharmacist and we do this technique also (the one that dr. greogory demonstrated in the vid)
