Great video Jack, you have showcased my home town perfectly. Hythe is a Wonderfull place to live and visit. Defo recommend a trip on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, an iconic tourist attraction with great vistas of the marshlands, New Romney and Dungeness.
Mr. Miller great presentation of a place I loved visiting... As A Baby Boomer born and raised in London, I moved to California in 1976, and spent 40-years working in HOLLYWOOD. My last visit to Hythe was in 2016, and I'm surprised to see that the old town has met the same fate of scores of seaside towns, villages and if course the cities, that have all fallen from grace with high crime, urban decay and despair. So many UA-cam videos have documented that side of Britain, that it's so refreshing to see Hythe has managed to stay so idealic. Indeed, you were so lucky to get a lovely sunny day, but as you said you should've mentioned the iconic RHD Railway as that's very photogenic!
That is so very kind of you to say, and I’ve watched many videos saying how the British seaside has gone down the drain which is why I always try to focus on the positives!
Let's hope and pray 🙏 it stays that way, Many of our once glorious British seaside towns have fallen into decline by design. Possibly 😢 please keep it as it is. ❤
I learned to play golf on that (Imperial Hotel) 9 hole course, great fun. The Malt House used to be part of Mackeson's Brewery (in the day I was allowed to go inside and get a weekly free half pint of bitter when I did some work there), That house is a Martello tower converted into a quirky home. I drive down to visit that butchers from Maidstone every month, they are really good! Great video, thanks.
My fist visit of Hythe was in 2019, and we travel back there each year since 2022, what a fantastic place, your video is the best I've seen about this town, Our holidays are already booked for summer 2025. Regards from Belgium.
Great video, thanks for showing our lovely Hythe. I moved here 4 years ago after visiting often. I feel so lucky to be able to walk the seafront and canal each day and love the independent shops. Next time as you go over the bridge from the town walk down Ladies Walk to the seafront it’s lovely and of course visit the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway x
Hi there, I live not that far away in Kent but hadn't heard about Hythe. I will definitely have a visit very soon. I'm afraid that many of these beautiful British seaside towns are getting ruined and falling into decline. I hope and pray 🙏 this one doesn't 🙏 ❤
We live backing on to the canal, the lazy shack, is the best place to ear for breakfast. You can hire kayaks and go along the Seabrook end of canal, it’s the best place to live 💕
Next time you're here take a walk up the canal to a place called Unit 1. You would love it. Right next to the canal and you can have a coffee or a beer made by a brewery right behind it, freshest pint you could possibly have
Interesting Vid! I live not that far from Hythe about 30 to 40 mins away, between Winchelsea beach and Hastings, and have only driven thru' Hythe on the coastal road. Never knew it was as interesting as the Vid has shown.
Great video! Hythe is pretty interesting, good high street great houses and beach. Beautiful canal walk! I found the canal on the map. It's a big bow shape running from Hythe, then going up and down all the way to Rye and beyond! That would be some walk! I wonder if many people have done the whole walk!?😮? Thanks for showing us Hythe, great job! 👍 👏🙏
Loved the video!! Hythe is a very special place and, as you saw, literally has everything! Would definitely recommend coming back for Florence’s for that bean-to-cup beverage, mooching around the Malt House when it’s open on Fridays and the weekend, and walking further up the canal as you can walk past one of the safari enclosures! It’s so nice to have Hythe just down the road! Looking forward to the next video!!
Thank you so much for the recommendations, definitely going to visit again around Christmas and really want to see that walking route where you can see the elephants! 😄
Hythe is a really lovely place, the OYO hotel lets the front down as it's dilapidated and housing migrants at the moment. We stayed at the Hythe Imperial and it's a lovely hotel. Beautiful rooms and nice staff.
Great video of Hythe. I've lived here for 12 years now its a fantastic place to live, you actually walked past my place on the seafront lol. You pretty much covered everything but didn't visit the little local museum which is very near the bandstand. There are seals and dolphins around aswell. You have a new subscriber 👍
I found Hythe to be a very friendly town. Rarely do you get met with so many good mornings from complete strangers, something that I haven’t experienced in the South East since the seventies.
Thanks for another excellent video. I am thinking of leaving London for the Kent coast as I spendt most summer holidays in Faversham as a young boy. I was inerested in Hythe until you said 'no dogs' on the beach. These little tips help me to narrow my search.
Thanks very much I appreciate it! I realise I should’ve said in the video the ‘no dogs on the beach’ was only April - September so you’d be ok in the autumn and winter months 🤗
Thanks for the promt reply Jack. It was unexpected. April to September would be the times I would be on the beach and so it was worth saying. I don't think I would be using the beach very much during the Winter. I wish your videos were more frequent, I have watched everyone. Thaks again.
@ ah thanks very much that means a lot! I try and do as many videos as I can but sometimes hard as I have a full time job so can only do stuff on the weekends! Thanks for the support 😃
My Dad lives on Stade Street and we visit regular, great little place.. especially in the summer! I think dogs can go on the beach in the winter... might be wrong. There used to be an Aldi in the town but they moved it not too far away.
I live not far away from Hythe and it best know for it's charity shops, there used to be an Aldi's in the town but it got moved out of the town and there is also a Sainsbury's. It can get very busy in the summer time along the canal, even the venetian fete they do in Hythe every 2 years in August.
Been to Hythe several times and never found the beach... usually walk along the canal from the RHDR station to town and back, looked well worth an explore. I got the 4 corners very early on Jack Bingo today, although "Sunday Paper" and "Bean to Cup" were missed off for the full house
Ahh that’s the thing I originally was just going to do the beach then realised there was everything behind it!! Ha ha, and I did actually say bean to cup at one point but the wind drowned it out 🤫🤫
you missed it abit down lady walk theres a very quiet garden down there if you carried on down the walk. hythe is great I use to work there and relax for a few hours.
@ a bit difficult getting to work with the bus service if a non driver and houses are made family size. For single people trying to get a small house it’s not possible
Great video as always Jack 👍😁 I am very impressed with Hythe. I have never been, it's on my list to visit. The church reminded me of the Church in Godshill, Isle of Wight and the church in Rye. Look forward to your next video 👍😁😎 Jack I forgot to say those chips looked the business
Thanks very much Lee always appreciate the comments mate. I know what you mean about the Godshill church where it’s a bit of a climb to get there but then the views are the reward 😃
I lived in Hythe for a year and hated it. Could hear that annoying little train and gunfire sooo often and there's nothing there!!!! Narrow lanes galore and have to bloody drive everywhere I moved straight back to shitty Margate.
Torbay of Hythe fish and chip shop in the high street is possibly the best fish and chip shop in the South. I found one better and that is off the M6 at Shap.
My friends please do hit the thumbs up button just above! Also please do subscribe to my channel if you aren’t already 👍

Cheers Andy that means a lot knowing I did your town justice. Will definitely be back to ride the railway at some point 😄

Love it 😄
Love your video of Hythe . I live here and it's a really lovely place to live.
Thank you Rosemary I can imagine what a lovely place it would be to live!
Let's hope and pray 🙏 it stays that way, Many of our once glorious British seaside towns have fallen into decline by design. Possibly 😢 please keep it as it is. ❤
I didn't realise that Hythe has such a nice seafront
No neither did I! 😆

Thanks very much Ray! Interesting to hear about the indoor market too, wouldn’t mind getting a weekly free half pint 😂
Missed the Golf Course! 18 tees , picturesque and rather tricky! Please visit soon!!
Thanks, sadly my golfing skills aren’t what they used to be 🤪

Thanks so much for checking out the video, really appreciate it. Hythe is definitely one of my favourite places I’ve been to this year
Great video. Hythe is a beautiful place to live.
Thanks a lot
My ex moved to hythe abandoning me to carry on coping in the sticks on my own!!!!! 😢
Hi, good video, I used to live Hythe
Thanks a lot
Very good place
Agreed 😃
Wonderful video - thank you!
Thanks a lot

😎Thats the best Hythe i have see yet.
Cheers Geoffrey
Many, many years ago I lived not far from Hythe and have not been back. But I will now, this was wonderful footage
That’s great, thank you 😄
The beach looks awesome! Pretty town.
Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised how great the beach actually was!
We live backing on to the canal, the lazy shack, is the best place to ear for breakfast. You can hire kayaks and go along the Seabrook end of canal, it’s the best place to live 💕
Thanks for commenting, honestly I’m so envious you live next to the canal !
Great video and yes I have seen seals, dolphins and a whale while on the promenade at Hythe.
Thanks very much. Wow a whale! That’s amazing

Ah lovely! Thanks for the comment and I hope the video has convinced you to give it a visit soon 😊
Often go to the beach in the summer jack for a day out and a swim but its very deep great vlog mate 👌
Cheers Steve 😄
You should do a dedicated video on the light railway!
I live just back from the seafront in Hythe... it does feel quite a privileged!
That is a fantastic idea thanks 😃
Great video
Thank you 😁

Thanks so much Sandra, maybe one time I’ll do a video attempting the full canal walk , that could be fun 🤪
@jackryanmiller maybe a bike ride? 😅👍
Loved the video!! Hythe is a very special place and, as you saw, literally has everything! We stayed at the Hythe Imperial and it's a lovely hotel. Beautiful rooms and nice staff.
Migrants are no longer there, it's now open to general public.

Ah cheers Mark I very much appreciate that mate, extremely envious of you living on the seafront 😃
I do love when you show the cute houses and buildings 😂 I literally just make my list of places to check out from your videos
Aw thanks Lauren, I’m glad someone appreciates my ‘look at that house’ comments every few seconds 😂
I think you’ll find that the seafront house that looks like a Martello tower is one! (or used to be)
That would explain a lot 😆but still would be so cool living in a converted Martello tower
I found Hythe to be a very friendly town. Rarely do you get met with so many good mornings from complete strangers, something that I haven’t experienced in the South East since the seventies.
Yes indeed it’s very rare you get a place now where anyone says good morning, especially not in London where I am! 😄
Thanks for another excellent video. I am thinking of leaving London for the Kent coast as I spendt most summer holidays in Faversham as a young boy. I was inerested in Hythe until you said 'no dogs' on the beach. These little tips help me to narrow my search.

I left London and moved to Hythe 2 months ago(with a dog), would seriously recommend it ! : )
@ ah thanks very much that means a lot! I try and do as many videos as I can but sometimes hard as I have a full time job so can only do stuff on the weekends! Thanks for the support 😃
@@jackryanmiller Thanks again Jack. I am letting all of my friends know about your videos and look forward to your next one.

Love it! And you are right it’s only the spring and summer months that dogs can’t go on the beach but forgot to add that bit into the video 😃
@@jackryanmillerwrong! Dogs are permitted on certain sections of the beach all year
I live not far away from Hythe and it best know for it's charity shops, there used to be an Aldi's in the town but it got moved out of the town and there is also a Sainsbury's. It can get very busy in the summer time along the canal, even the venetian fete they do in Hythe every 2 years in August.
Thanks Ryan, I do love a charity shop I’ll have to have a proper look next time 🫡
There is a Waitrose and a High Street featuring 6 pubs, wine bars, antique shops, art galleries, cafes and quirky shops!
Seals and dolphins in Hythe!
That’s amazing to hear
Been to Hythe several times and never found the beach... usually walk along the canal from the RHDR station to town and back, looked well worth an explore. I got the 4 corners very early on Jack Bingo today, although "Sunday Paper" and "Bean to Cup" were missed off for the full house

Next time you in hythe take a walk up cliff Road for some super 360 views.
Thanks I’ll defo do that, I just looked it up and I wasn’t too far away from Cliff road
@ definitely worth a walk long that road takes you through to seabrook , the views are really good up there as you are high up.
you missed it abit down lady walk theres a very quiet garden down there if you carried on down the walk. hythe is great I use to work there and relax for a few hours.
Thanks very much, such a shame I missed the quiet garden area 🙁
Trying to buy a house there, a bit pricey….upgrading area…I’m from Dymchurch 🤣
Oooh I love Dymchurch 😄but fair enough
@ a bit difficult getting to work with the bus service if a non driver and houses are made family size. For single people trying to get a small house it’s not possible

That’s great I’ll have to try it some time, thanks
