  • I have an idea for a creative exercise in quilting. Quilting is all bout space division and how to fill the created area. So let’s practice that. Let us create differently sized rectangles and fill them with different patterns. It will give you an opportunity to test what design is your favorite and how can you use it most effectively depending on the size and shape of your block.
I also added some nice music @liborioconti . It is relaxing, meditative and it is similar to the music I listen to when I quilt. I hope you like it 😊

Stunning! What a great practice and learning video. It always fascinates me to watch you so smoothly go from one design to another great design. I loved watching all the shapes and designs develop into a beautiful quilted block. Thank you so very much for such an awesome video. I truly appreciate you and am always inspired by you. ❤❤❤🌞🌻🌹. Have a great day

Thank you for your super lovley comment! 😃. I love the creative component of this work. Usually I sit down with an idea what I want to quilt. Sometimes I have an exact content planned ahead, but sometimes I just sit and quilt.... I am rarelly disappointed. Have a good day!!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Just what I need, my friend, inspiration for my current project that is ready to go on the machine for quilting. It's a huge star block with four 10" squares in different colors as the center (solids), all in earth tones to coordinate with our new sofa that is coming soon. I can tell I'm not only rusty with the quilting but the piecing, LOL. Should work out fine in the end so I have to quell my inner perfectionist and give myself grace to get back to my former quilting self! Those wavy lines near the end remind me of seaweed blowing in ocean currents. Shared in my Community Section! ~Cynthia

Thanky ou for the feedback and your wonderful recommendation!❤❤❤. That was very generous of you!
I am happy to hear the story how you came back to your quilting. There are so mayn things I would like to continue but I had to stop due to lack of time. I know we can do it all, just not all at once.
I am very curious about your quilt. I am sure it will look great.
And I loved the background wavy lines. Water or windy air...Have a great day!!!!

I don't know if you allow links in your comment section (I don't, too many porn spammers, ugh), but I have a picture of the quilt top and backing in my Community Section, the post I did before the one where I shared your video, if you want to see it. My channel is not particularly a quilting channel, mostly homesteading, self sufficiency and chickens, but I do have a quilt playlist for videos I did about my projects over the years. Early videos were with not-so-great cameras, ought to take those down, I guess.

@@rootsrocksfeathers1975 Leave your quilting videos alone. They haven't done anything :) And yes I have seen the top, I am really curios about the quilting. and the thread choice :)😃

@@quiltingnerd Haha, I'm still curious about those things myself! It's raining today and very dark in the house so I will probably start on it tomorrow. Don't get your hopes up too high!

What type/size thread do you use in your needle? and then what type/size thread do you use in your bobbin? Thank you.

That is a question with an answer: that depends ...Most of the time I use 50 wt thread for top and bobbin. If I have a polyesterthread then I may use 50 (it is thinner ) or even thinner thread like a 100 wt for the bobbin. Sometime I use a 40 wt polyester thread and then I either use the same in the bobbin or a suitable color 50 wt thread. Bobbin should be the same or thinner, but I noticed that my machine does not like polyester quilting or embroidery thread in the bobbin so I use cotton 50 wt.
