Looks like acceleration but look closer and you will see it is flying away from the camera then wheels right. Same speed but at right angles to the camera so to the viewer it appears it suddenly sped up. I'm pretty sure the Hare doesn't care about any of this and still has that oh shit moment though.
It is, on average the bald eagles top speed is 75-99 miles an hour, with first place of all Raptors being the peragrine falcon at 240 miles an hour at max and second being the golden eagle from 150-200 miles an hour, that is why for me it is no surprise that an eagle can fly at 50 miles an hour switch in an instance WITHOUT TRYING!!!
+John Metal How is he a moron? He stated he opinion freely? Your opinion differs from his but any opinion other than yours is classed as moronic? I don't get it.
Really cool video. I like how you show the hare getting away, it makes you respect the abilities of both the predator and prey. I absolutely love this sport because it allows us, humans, the opportunity to watch a magnificent creature do exactly what it does in the wild.
Man x.x why is everyone taking this soo seriously? It's such a neat approach. People make use of the talents of this eagle. The eagle doesn't suffer for missing a kill, since it will be taken care of regardless. Great trade off. The hares will just do there best to survive against the two predators. Obviously they are pretty good at it! I'm jealous.... all we have is a tiny lap dog.
Argocat were in production way before quad bikes and J D Gators etc. They can go across calm water by the driven wheels or can have small outboard motors fitted for choppier water
What a beautiful raptor you have there I must say! Golden Eagles are incredable birds, just watch how he alters his speed to bring down the hare, one of the fastest animals on four legs. The grace of the bird is simply amazing, they're so clever too! How many hares can this magnificent animal take in a day?
I lucked into a HUGE Red Tailed Hawk. We would sit in the rim of the big Arroyos in New Mexico & scan for jackrabbits below. Bigun (Hawks name) usually saw em first & shed "dance" on my shoulderpad til I saw it & pointed & shed launch. She rarely missed. She taught ME about raptors & hunting w them. Amazing creature! I wore my shoulderpad under my jacket & would tap my shoulder for her to come down & land on me. Rode motorcycle while she flew above & followed. Picked up a LOT of girls that way in town. Stop for a redlight next to their cars on my bike & tap my shoulder & Bigun would fly down & land. Amazed the hell out of the women. When light turned green Id throw my shoulder & Bigun would launch off & wed play that game all over town. She REFUSED to wear a hood! Hated them. Didnt need one anyway. Id point & shed attack. Her claws were as big as my hands & her "NO" ment NO! Would grab my hand/arm & put just enough pressure to let me know she WASNT wearing that damn hood. Could have easily punched right through if she wanted to. Amazingly SMART!!
@Spandex08 it's to stop the bird getting confused and destracted when he is being moved, and it actually reduces stress by about 90% to cover a bird's field of view during transit.
Holy shit i didnt notice it until the narrator said it but look at the eagle in its final turn.......he actually doubles his speed in forcing that turn to a G-turn...nature is AMAZING! We have so much to learn and benefit from them! Any aircraft we have so far would break its wings off doing that :p And no its not the foreward flying aspect....he just creams it
I totally agree! I'm glad there are some nature-loving people! Hares are declining all over Europe, I don't know about America! A slight drought can cause 1000 times more damage than few hares.
Not so much pets - they love them but these are working birds. Yes it is legal. Talk to the British Falconers Club and look at the work of the Hawk Board, among others.
Beautiful bird!..but it looks like it could give ya one helluva bite...i was told that the eagles are so strong and fast..that its the impact that kills its prey as opposed to pinning it down and eating it alive..
Hm. Eagles and hounds and falconeering over the fields... he hasn't a horse, but close enough - this fellow's hobbies are like those of a king of old. I'm unashamedly jealous.
Paul TheSkeptic Probably because their owners keep them pampered as hell. They're smart enough to figure out that having to live in the wilderness sucks.
***** Neither do Orca whales. I suppose that's true but animals can't reason. Isn't there the so called "call of the wild"? Plus, they generally don't mate in captivity that I'm aware of. It seems to me that at least sometimes, the animals might be tempted to just keep going, unless there's something else. Some trick to it or something. Well, however it works it sure is a cool sport.
Paul TheSkeptic Then why does the bird return every single time? If you've ever had to actually live in the wilderness, you'd know that Mother Nature wants you dead.
it's all about the angles.. it already has that speed but the eagle was going away from the camera. Then it suddenly turns right and going across the field of view of the camera.
Its simply not a skilled eagle, do you even know what the top speed of a golden eagle is??? Its 150-200 miles an hour!!! That is almost double that of a hare, which is a maximum of 35-50 miles an hour!!! Never mind its triple!!! At that rate of speed the eagle was already going to fast to have a decent grip, these falconers simply don't even know what they are doing!!!
What does hare meat taste like in comparison to rabbit? Some say it's tougher and more 'gamey'. What's the best way to cook hare? I'm very fond of a nice traditional bunny stew, but would that same recipe work with hare?
it's the same principle of a roundabout in a child's playground. if you spin around one of those leaning outwards to gain speed, then pull yourself into the middle it speeds up. i believe it's to do with centrifugal force. also, it's partly an optical illusion. the bird is heading away from camera in a straight line, it's difficult to judge it's speed until it's suddenly sideways.
Amazing footage there of that eagle behind the hare, nice to see Roy explain about conservation aswel coz the anti hunt brigade just think it's about killing! If they took the time to learn instead of judging they would realise that hunting is vastly needed and helps the balnce of nature and conservation.
ive got a lurcher. only problem is he's a 120lbs of canine softie. one time he chased down a deer and when he caught up he didn't know what to do so he just ran into it lol
That acceleration of the Eagle at 1:23 right before the strike is incredible.
Looks like acceleration but look closer and you will see it is flying away from the camera then wheels right. Same speed but at right angles to the camera so to the viewer it appears it suddenly sped up. I'm pretty sure the Hare doesn't care about any of this and still has that oh shit moment though.
golden eagle can fly with 200 km/h...
That burst of speed is amazing. Doesn't seem possible
Sorry, I hate f**** auto correct, it makes me hella mad, that is why you may see so much edits.
I meant f******, see I don't know what's wrong, but it won't let me express on an argument!!!!
That bird is beautiful
Roy is one of the UK's top falconers if anyone should own a golden eagle he has by far the skill to keep one
That acceleration before he attacked was truly sensational.
I love watching birds of prey hunting. Thank you for posting such brilliant videos.
Since I was a little kid I have been fascinated by this entire concept... I just love the birds and the team work
Great video
I love it when man and nature work together for the same goal - gives me a little bit of hope in this bleak world.
Yes. I'm sure the hare is delighted, too.
+Crichjo32 you're a moron
+John Metal How is he a moron? He stated he opinion freely? Your opinion differs from his but any opinion other than yours is classed as moronic? I don't get it.
Chris North Who cares about what the hare thinks? I only care about what the guy and eagle thinks.
Ye I am sure the eagle loves to live with a blindfold on 24/7, actually you should try it yourself too
Eagles are so majestic and amazing!
1:10 hitting boost

Most amazing thing I've ever seen. Birds working with man to catch food. Awesome

Beautiful eagle!
Woo big bird He just cuts in at last second awesome
Absolutely gorgeous eagles
Great insight,love it.
That last moment acceleration was awesome even though it ultimately missed.
Roy is an all round legend
I love animals . . . I particularly love raptors and watching them hunt.
Love those birds
burst of speed was amazing!

The "helmet" is a blinder. It keeps the bird calm. You take it off when the rabbit it sighted on the move and the bird snaps into action.
Falcons wear hoods to keep them calm and ensure they are alert when the falconer needs it.
Such beautiful birds
that burst of speed before the strike was amazing
that's awesome! Sport of Kings!
What an incredible bird.
When I was just getting started in the eagle game, I was making the same kind of videos. But now I'm really into teaching pigeons to hunt eagles.
Wow thats nice. greeting from asia.
1:53 The birds mocking you in the background lol
Beautiful Birds.
@Spandex08 it's to stop the bird getting confused and destracted when he is being moved, and it actually reduces stress by about 90% to cover a bird's field of view during transit.
Bravo for the hares 😍
Wow that acceleration from the eagle
1:10 " and talking about acceleration"
The way the Eagle shapes its wings and body.
Beautiful
Amazing sir
real nice shots of falconry here
Holy shit i didnt notice it until the narrator said it but look at the eagle in its final turn.......he actually doubles his speed in forcing that turn to a G-turn...nature is AMAZING! those birds are badass
I totally agree! I'm glad there are some nature-loving people! Hares are declining all over Europe, I don't know about America! A slight drought can cause 1000 times more damage than few hares.
those birds are bad ass!!!
See the way it DASHED, flash speed!!
Not so much pets - they love them but these are working birds. Yes it is legal. Talk to the British Falconers Club and look at the work of the Hawk Board, among others.
thanks
Class!
really good video!!!
Lol at the beginning I thought wtf predatory birds shouldn't miss that bad...then BAM. Cool vid
Looks to me like everybody is having fun,the dog,the hunters, the eagle and the viewers.Cant say the same for the hare.....;))))
Have to admire the sight in day time as well as the strength, flying, reflexes, and weaponry of Eagles
Best eagle attacks hares
Roy picked up a super orb back there
RESPECT.
WELCOME TO QAZAQSTAN
After this, the eagle joined him at the table, said grace and had some rabbit stew... life's good
Beautiful bird!..but it looks like it could give ya one helluva bite...i was told that the eagles are so strong and fast..that its the impact that kills its prey as opposed to pinning it down and eating it alive..
Wow that is a lot of work. But how cool to see a bird predator take down fur.
Hm. Eagles and hounds and falconeering over the fields... he hasn't a horse, but close enough - this fellow's hobbies are like those of a king of old. I'm unashamedly jealous.
what kind of vehicle is that? it looks like a mars rover with the rounded out tires.
@SENSIBLECHEMIST i think rabbits tend to hang around holes and go into them when theres danger, hares tend to just haul ass
How does it work? Why do the animals not just fly off?
Paul TheSkeptic Probably because their owners keep them pampered as hell. They're smart enough to figure out that having to live in the wilderness sucks.
***** Neither do Orca whales. I suppose that's true but animals can't reason. Isn't there the so called "call of the wild"? Plus, they generally don't mate in captivity that I'm aware of. fleetcenturion That's what I'm wondering.
Paul TheSkeptic Well, it's not hard to figure out. See all the above reasons.
What are those leather helmets that they put on eagle's and falcon's heads?
it's all about the angles.. it already has that speed but the eagle was going away from the camera. Then it suddenly turns right and going across the field of view of the camera.
That Eagle is a scrub noob. He couldn't clutch the 1v1.
Its simply not a skilled eagle, do you even know what the top speed of a golden eagle is??? Its 150-200 miles an hour!!! It’s harder Han u think mate
Probably not if they're like this. The gloves are just for the claws on the Eagle's feet. Incase you were wondering.
do you see how big that field is?
Are eagles tame like that after a while towards people if you keep them for a while?
The crops that had grown on those fields had already been harvested, no damage done.
please explpain more about that burst of sspeed if you will.
incredible speed
whats done with the tail feathers of the juvenile eagles when they molt?
What does hare meat taste like in comparison to rabbit? Some say it's tougher and more 'gamey'. What's the best way to cook hare? I'm very fond of a nice traditional bunny stew, but would that same recipe work with hare?
He is a wizard.
I love hawks and eagle
Are there any wild eagles in england at the moment
what breed of dog have you got working in the video
got one question... are these birds as devoted to their masters as dogs for example?
I know that brown eagle... we met at a bar in Vancouver.
Do the hares do damage or is this just for fun?
it's the same principle of a roundabout in a child's playground. if you spin around one of those leaning outwards to gain speed, then pull yourself into the middle it speeds up. i believe it's to do with centrifugal force. also, it's partly an optical illusion. the bird is heading away from camera in a straight line, it's difficult to judge it's speed until it's suddenly sideways.
I like the turkey in the background
How does the eagle turn on the dashing speed in low flying? How??
Amazing footage there of that eagle behind the hare, nice to see Roy explain about conservation aswel coz the anti hunt brigade just think it's about killing! If they took the time to learn instead of judging they would realise that hunting is vastly needed and helps the balnce of nature and conservation.
ive got a lurcher. only problem is he's a 120lbs of canine softie. one time he chased down a deer and when he caught up he didn't know what to do so he just ran into it lol
damn that dog is having the time of his life
what is that 6 wheeled vehicle?
+Monsterboy2341 It's an Argocat
Cars 4
Monsterboy2341 a Automobile
can someone explain to me where that burst of speed comes from at 1:11? Like it just look like he magically gained another 20 mph.
That was hare raising.....
***** lol that's a good one. :D
Tyler Ellyson thanx...thought I was a comedic disappointment
:D Fairly so. 'Twas a good pun, though.
Anyone else notice the turkey strutting for the camera when the guy was talking? lol
Love it.
What is the helmet for on the eagle?
what type of dog is that in the video
Falconeering?
Rabbit is on the move
What's the best hawk for someone who hasn't got a clue about birds
