About Backyard Sprouts:
"We will be sharing our journey for the world to follow, influencing people to join the urban farming movement to grow fresh, local, organic and sustainable produce and to show everyone that it can be done with very little land.
We will also be sharing and doing gear reviews on items and gear we’ve used on this journey and whether or not we found it helpful to us."
All the best to you both in 2021. Do hope we see you back again with your wonderful content.
Hey I just wanted to give you a heads up that the pricing model you used is slightly flawed. When it comes to utilities, you can’t price it out on a per tray basis let alone a per oz basis. The lights are either on or off so if you have 2 lights per shelf then the cost is the same to you whether you have 1 tray or 4 trays on that shelf.
It would be easier to calculate the weekly cost of running X amount of lights for 16 hours a day and then divide that by your total yield for each crop.
Thank you Alex, Missed you and your posts :)
Thank you!
Missed you guys! and thanks for the valuable info!

@@BackyardSprouts really appreciate that!!
This was an awesome helpful video. What size trays are you referring to when you mention it takes 168oz of soil?
Thank you for sharing your strategy of pricing!
Hi Alex, RJ. What's been happening with you guy's really been missing your progress posts, since all this lockdown etc have you managed to keep the microgreens going or have things eased off at this time?
Hi Alex, very much missing your posts, bit like loosing a friend. Will we be seeing more videos or have other aspects of life taken over as it does sometime??
Hi, I was stuck in quarantine so we will be working on some new videos now that I am cleared :)
@@BackyardSproutsso glad to hear from you, hope you are ok, stay safe. look forward to seeing the videos
Many growers don’t factor in labor (soil, seed, harvest, sanitation, delivery) licenses, insurance, transportation expense, bookkeeping, tray cleaning, taxes, and the list goes on and on. Suddenly, they realize it’s not as profitable as the internet leads them to believe.
Hi Alex, I have heard of a person using pure worm castings as their media. Have you tried this or are there any downsides or hygiene issues that restrict the use of this type of media with microgreens, maybe you could do one of your famous comparison videos??
I have seen people use them for other forms for gardening but not with micros yet. Great suggestion for a video though, I will work on putting something together :)

Where do you get your labels printed?
We use a label printer called Brother QL

SOIL! Not dirt!!! Dirt is lifeless, soil is alive!
This video was pointless.. we want to know what people are charging not some hypothetical bull
Research. Every city is different and place is different. In Charlotte we were not the most expensive nor the cheapest. You have to do your own research. This was for the people asking us how we came up with our pricing, not what we charged.
I’m scared to start, one it seems like more than what it seems, two… I live in Charlotte tooooo 🥲
