The world is in a state of anxiety. We all need to be united and support each other through this terrible time in history. It will get better if we all wake up, spread love instead of hate, and help each other through difficulties that face us all.
Right now the UK is taking a leaf out of the Trump book I'm afraid to say. We are about to pass law that breaches international law and leaves asylum seekers at danger. Instead of build the wall, they chant stop the boats.
Add onto that they want us to withdraw from the European court of human rights, something only two other nations in Europe have done (Belarus and Russia 🤔)
And you start to wonder if we are going backwards...
The reason I say this is because I agree we need to help each other through difficulties yet we have leaders turning their backs on the most vulnerable people in the world fleeing persecution, war and violent regimes
I sincerely believe Ren is blowing up (hopefully) at this moment in time simply because we need angels like him in our lives right about now. We all need more Ren moments along with all of the other independent artists out there right now and again, hopefully blowing up.

Totally agree with you Cliff. I'm hardly listening to anything other than Ren at the moment and I'm usually jumping all over the place. As for this song I felt it. I called it the Diaz lag. Made me feel I was walking a few feet behind myself and respond a few seconds after I'd already responded. I was basically my own tracer. The clip and track feels just like it. Much love man

Thank you brother, its weird how talking about panic attacks with someone that you can trust helps ground you. I appreciate how much you give back to us and how real you are about these topics, just like Ren is in his music.
Ever since I hear Hi Ren over a month ago it’s been a never ending rabbit hole of emotion, discovery, and feeling like a whole other world of incredible music and people has been found. Every single day I hear a new song from his catalog I didn’t know existed, and every one hits so hard.

As someone who had a pretty rough benzo addiction around 10 years ago, this song hits hard. Those little buggers can be problematic.

I honestly can't listen to "Depression" without tearing up at the end. Partly because I hate hearing him cry, but it's also because I deal with depression and man, do I get what he says in that song way more than I wish I did.

Yeah Ren is like a composer who composes music for films, or the old classical musicians who composed Music to let the music convey the feeling without words. His music, by itself is a journey, the music speaks to you and then he adds his incredible poetry, storytelling, clever word play and messages etc on top. If I were stuck on a remote island and could only have music from 1 artist with me it would without doubt be Ren with his diversity of genres and feels from heartbroken to laughing I could never get bored.

This song is one of my favorites from Ren. I struggle heavily with anxiety and heavily abused benzos to cope with it. I turned myself into such a zombie over those couple of years and absolutely hated myself for it. Since then I’m about a year clean and am still feeling better everyday! I do have a kolonipin prescription but I give all control of that to my wife. I still struggle bad with anxiety but have tried to find other ways to get through it. To anyone thinking about self medicating or who does and loves the way it makes you feel, don’t do it. It’s not worth it and will bite you so hard in the end.

I once saw a blog that Ren Did ,basically saying I am having alot of anxiety at the moment. He was saying I don't really know why , but I do know it will pass . The look in his eyes , I knew that I have had the same look in my eyes when I am having an anxiety attack. Sometimes I have to just go through it with the awareness that it will pass even if it doesn't feel like it will. Some times if I have to much anxiety connected to chronic pain I take something for it . Part of my anxiety comes from being misdiagnosed, and now left to find my own way out . Wow ! I didn't think I would share this much.
Love your Ren reactions. I'd really like to see you react to one of his much older songs from the time he was still being misdiagnosed; called Patience. I think it is captures the essence of who he is, and the strength of his spirit.

I am watching a family member, being heavily over medicated. She walks around like a zombie and now has violent uncontrollable shakes. She wants to get off of her psych drugs.
At this point, I don't know if they are gonna help her or not.
They just gave her a script for something to control the shakes.
I told her to step up and be the one in charge of her own medical care and life.
Don't let someone else, tell her how she feels. Tell them. Make them do their job.
Because of Ren, people are discussing things that before weren't even whispered.
It's truly a wonderful thing.😸

Ren has so many voices. It always amazes me his range. That 'fog' you mentioned where they feel like they are not themselves or 'disconnected' is what I think in his Chalk Outlines song.
Great reaction! I've never been on this particular medication but some of the side effects, especially with psych meds, can be brutal. I've had to take steroids and have experienced my face (and pretty much everything else) swelling up. As for the video, I love how they did this one. It flows so well with the music! Ren's music is brilliant, but it seems that it always is!

I love the artists depiction of the song and how he translates it to a different medium. The fact that it matches the words makes the experience so much more real, as opposed to the videos that have absolutely nothing to do with the song.
Another great reaction! Another banger from Ren! I need to use Valium infrequently to knock me out when I have horrific, intense bouts of vertigo that can last up to 6 hours. I have to be careful because of the higher dosages I need to take. I can see how easy it is to become reliant on it. I'd avoid it altogether since I'm in recovery, but there's not much else I can do.
There's a lot of great material on both volumes of "Demos (Do Not Share)."
I love all of Ren's music, but I want to remind people that there's a lot of happy music too!

Every song by Ren feels transparent and honest. Not always pretty. Not always nice. But honest.
Thank you for reacting to this one. This is by far one of my favorites from him. Between the lyrics and the call out to the Red Hot Chili Peppers (especially that solo) are a perfect mix. I haven't been on any of the -pams but it mirrors some of the feeling I get on SSRIs. Its always a balancing act between the underlying condition and the side effects.
Many years ago I was given them for panic attacks that came from nowhere but when I found myself after months taking more and paracetamol like jelly babies both doing nothing but making me even more exhausted I stopped using them completely it took 2 and half years but as I had an example of an Aunt who's life was robbed from her ,she had been given it for grief a long time before addiction to vallium was understood . My warning signs of panic attacks is pain shooting up my back and nausea I have to lie down till it passes to try and regulate my breathing I have a song running around my head to concentrate on and breathe to. In my life everytime the illness kicked in it ripped away more of my body muscle nothing I did helped that so now exercise is not an option. Thank you for explaining the adrenalin rush people don't understand not because scared body just Reacts to things,noise light even colours I gave up a long time ago trying to work out the triggers but moved from my home and family in London to Lincolnshire for peace and quiet it worked for a while until the next illness restarted the cycle.

Edit That is why I love NIN. Every Album was different and you could watch how Trent grew and what he was going through. He rented a Cabin on the Beach to erase himself and that is where he wrote the Fragile Album.

My sister went through the exact same thing with panic attacks. It was so bad and the only way i discovered to help her was to make her talk to me about something completely off subject. I was lucky to figure this out so I feel for your struggle and strength to keep going. You are admirably making a difference for those that don’t have some one to talk to. Or even if they do, you stil offer an outlet. I love your videos.

I know I was on pam but I whent crazy not feeling any emotions but when I was a kid I did some boxing and remembered how I felt when I punched a bag so I bought a big punching and when I panic or feel awful I punch it and scream at what I'm panicking about .and when I'm don punching and screaming my emotions I'm happy even more happy and unstressed than I was after a pam.

There is no nutritional value seeing someone looking like a dead fish with open mouth, forgetting nearly everything that happens in the video/song and end the video directly after the song and saying "Wow. That was amazing".
Sad to hear that you need antidepressants, but I am happy to hear that you have help. Myself i can't take those pills. The "Chalk Outline"-Feeling I absolutely can't stand and it makes the situation way worse for me. But I am glad that other methods did work and I am somewhat functional right now. Not perfect, but it works :)

😂 lol. Good humor. I was on Ativan for years and decided to cut my in one fell swoop. No taper and no explanation. Very hard for me to build any confidence in them
I got addicted to xanax for 7 years, eventually hit tolerance and then came the 3 years of hell as I slowly came off the drug, the withdrawal symptoms were horrific, I'm now over 5 years clean and feel 10000x better. This song hit deep for me! If you suffer from anxiety stay clear of benzos, they are way worse then anxiety itself!!

Pams and lams are the biggest blessing in disguise. They fucked me up for a decade. Been off them for 5 years now and I still think about them every day..
The line that stuck out to me, "synesthetic dreaming I'm carried away, anesthetic bleeding in place of the pain" is fantastic. The first part is talking about the effects of the drugs, almost being dreamlike, yet forcefully so as he's "carried away" and the practicality of this, hes still bleeding, the problem is still there, but its anesthetic now, he can't feel it. Powerful

Hey Cliff great Rxn w your personal experience with this !! as I’ve ever relay before I’ve been on clonazepam …. which really diazepam, lorazepam Xanax… Any of these basically all the same thing being benzodiazepines (just different 1/2 lives..) but they are the most addictive/physically dependent substance on the planet and a complete bitch to taper off or detox from! As you know, I’ve been on (stuck on) clonazepam - stuck for over a decade now after going through the same thing in the 90s and having to go to a detox center to get off it, and even that was horrific!! I can’t wait till I get some breaks in life to where I can take a breather and get off this shit once again!!!! Agree it’s so important what Ren’s doing in shining a light on mental health and as you said, especially for men !! Thanks once again for your transparency!! Much love!!

Also Cliff, as a sufferer from mental health and autoimmune disorders, I have found a lot of relief by cutting sugars and carbs feom my diet. There is growing research on the effects of diet and mental health see Dr. Georgia Ede and Dr. Ken Berry. I've gotten off all meds and living a better life.

tissue swelling with stress is a real bitch - cortisol is one of the worst things for humans.
Simpler times back in the miss Cleo days even though they seemed like the hardest at the time.

Great track. Can completely understand there are many reasons to cause an individual anxiety, but there just seems to be so many people who suffer with it. Is medication the answer though ? I honestly worry for future generations.

Diazepam was prescribed for my mum late 60s she became hooked not a lot was known about them then she also was given sleeping tablets she had been taking these drugs for about 3yrs they ruined her life I found my mum dead from barbiturate poisoning she’d had a pulmonary collapse my mum was 40yrs old and left 5 children. Since then I’ve had an intense dislike for this drug I’ve suffered anxiety and panic attacks but refused them and fought to get myself as well as I could never give up hope everybody’s special money means nothing the best things in life are free ❤️
