    Oh my god I'm absolutely in love with your channel! I'm beginning to adjust to a sustainable lifestyle and when ever I finish a product, be it face wash or toner or hair mask I look it up here! Thank you so much for your recipes! You're doing so much for the environment, its really noble.
    PS- is it necessary to refrigerate this? what happens if I leave it at room temperature?

      Anything that contains water needs refrigeration that is why most shop products have preservatives....

    Can't wait to try this! I have used coconut oil before, but it is to heavy for my hair. This sounds like it will work on my hair much better. Thank you so much for all your great inspiring videos!!!

      @@FairylandCottage Just wanted to let you know that I gave this a try and love it! I was wondering what you do with the coconut when you are done draining it? I felt kinda bad putting it straight into compost so I added it to my breakfast oats! It had lost a little flavor and texture...but it was good mixed in with everything else.

  • @mrinalinidevi2724

    Good recipe.... I just use a bit of oil straight to my hair... it does become a bit oily... but nothing more than a gel or hairspray... and it's really natural with all the good benifits

    Do you think a spoon of frozen coconut cream in water would work as well as the shredded coconut soaked overnight? I like to buy the little tins of it from Waitrose and freeze it in tiny silicone chocolate moulds for later use in cooking. Also a few drops of tea tree essential oil might be good for children, or those working closely with children like teachers, nursery staff etc to prevent head lice - just a thought xxx

    Hello! Another great diy! The chickpea flower is working great, but I would love a little conditioning. Since I already have argan oil, could I use that rather than the rosemary? Or is there a particular reason for the rosemary. Thanks, Tiina 😊

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  6 років тому +2

      MidLife VanLife when water it used in a product it increases the risk of bacteria etc forming. There are a few things that help prevent that. One is rosemary oil. The other is vitE oil. You could add a few drops of argali oil. Just keep an eye on it and shake before use.

    I heard that you can use rosemary to naturally darken your hair and cover grays. What do you think about adding muddled Rosemary with the Coconut before adding the boiling water instead of the essential oil? Not sure if it would stain...

    I love this recipe! After I put it in the fridge, it seems bits of the coconut oil hardened. Have you had this happen? I strained with muslin cloth, don't think that was it. Is it ok to keep it out of the fridge?

      @FairylandCottage  5 років тому +1

    • @FairylandCottage

      Kate Wasserman I think it is the oil coming off the coconut. Mad eh! Yes you can thaw it before showering... maybe just on a hair wash day take it out of the shower the night before!

    It doesn’t leave your hair oily?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  6 років тому +3

      Cristal Hernandez not at all. Although I don't spray heavy on my roots. This is for the ends and the hair. But there is not enough oil in it, to make it oily.

    • @gilliantherese7202
      @gilliantherese7202 6 років тому +1

      Putting oil on your hair does not make it oily...You just have to find the right type of oil for your hair. Your hair type/health, will determine how much to use.

      Sounds like you're you're fighting with oily hair as I used to when I was still over stripping my hair an commercial shampoo. I stopped using chemical shampoo over a year ago - I wash with rye flour now and I'll never go back. My hair is still improving even after a year. I have super fine and thin hair but now I don't have to add any styling products to my hair. It takes time for the glands to realize they don't hand to over produce sebum, but it's worth all the patience it takes. All you need of a natural bristle brush, and (admittedly alot of) patience to wait. Your hair is supposed to have "some" oil in it. That shampoo commercial high gloss shine is NOT what natural hair does - even clean. It comes from some of the (many) chemicals in the shampoo. Food for thought. Hope this helps. Good luck.

      Anime girl in Ireland we have a website where we can buy secondhand which is cheaper and no packaging and it's reusing. It's a win win.
      If you can't avoid it don't be too hard on yourself because moving into a new house can be hard to keep waste low. Just try buy second hand or you could ask the shop have they got a display fridge etc because that comes unpackaged. Always ask a shop if you can have no package. You never know what they will say.
