    When my lights started to go off by themselves, I would give the top of the dashboard a tap and they would come back on. But it's gotten worse over the last few weeks. I would fidget with the dimmer switch, and it would come on and off. I'm betting that your solution is the right one. Thanks again.

      I did that for a while myself, and still bang on the dash to make my temperature gauge work😂 If it works it works😎

      There's some tiny bulbs in there. Usually only a few so its common to just have one bulb still working and when that one goes out... Take the trim bezel off and check the bulbs. It'll be obvious if they are burnt out because they will look pretty dark. Good luck!

    • @sentradynamics8889
      @sentradynamics8889  Рік тому +1

      Yes, and that would be the easiest most reliable way to go. If the lights consistently stay on after some fiddling with the dimmer I'd feel confident just buying the new switch. Good luck!

      @sentradynamics8889  4 роки тому +1

      A loose plug or crusty dielectric grease in the connector can cause issues too. Sometimes you can just plug and unplug the connector a few times to make a decent connection. Thanks for watching 😁

    Cat wasn’t starting. I cleaned some grounds and replaced a starter cable that was corroded. Car starts now but dash and running light flickers when in D or R only never did before. If I turn headlights on it goes away. Annoying though. Probably something stupid. Any ideas ??

    • @sentradynamics8889
      @sentradynamics8889  Рік тому +2

      Sounds like it could be a neutral safety switch (only allows the car to be started in neutral or park) It's common for instrument lights and neutral safety switch to share the same circuit. If you can find the neutral safety switch you can test the theory by unplugging it and using a jumper wire across the plug terminals. Good luck!

      @@sentradynamics8889 hey thanks for the tip ! I’ll keep it in mind. Funny thing is it did not do it until I replaced the starter cable The old one was corroded and back then it had a intermittent starting problem. Since replacement it did it a few times where it wouldn’t start Then it wouldn’t not start again So starts right up since all this but still when in drive or reverse. Tye dash lights flicker which it did not do before

    • @mick5740
      @mick5740 Рік тому +1

      @@sentradynamics8889 I checked alternator by putting a multimeter on the battery connections I believe to see what it was doing and I believe it was correct for a functional alternator. When I did the new starter cable I did clean some windows electrical connections so i should probably check all those to see if something is funky. Maybe that’s where something got screwed up. But weird thing is how it starts great now and didn’t before lol

    Didn't work for me. Of course my dimmer switch was different then yours. I didn't see a contact strip like yours

    • @sentradynamics8889
      @sentradynamics8889  4 роки тому

      Yeah they do come in a variety of different configurations so it can be hit and miss. Just a matter of getting at the contacts, without destroying the switch, if there are any of that sort in there. Some of them are more like a typical rheostat switch that's more encased. Sometimes you can get away with just blasting them out with electrical parts cleaner or soaking in rubbing alcohol and working the knob back n forth. Brake cleaner and carb cleaner will destroy them. Thanks for watching 😁
