    @HKrider218 I used to trailer both the Brute and the Wolverine to a small town in eastern central Kentucky in the mountains. Although the Brute had an advantage in some places with the locker and IRS, there were other places where the 100lb less weight of the Wolverine gave it an advantage. There's a rock face there called Binocular. Although it was a lot of work to get the Wolverine up it, it made it on it's own power. I had to winch the Brute up it.

    @HKrider218 Mine had 27" Mud Lites, they did good in mud. They didn't do well rock crawling or on steep hills. I like woods trails, hillclimbs, & rock crawling. The stock tires on the Wolverine are fine for that. The Mud Lites on the Brute sucked on rocks and steep hills. Then again, the Brute isn't as stable or heavy enough in front to keep the front end down, even with a winch. The Wolverine is front heavy, stable and lighter, that helps, so the Brute's tires weren't all the problem.

    I've got a Polaris sportsman 400 and a Yamaha Grizzly 450 and I can assure you the Sportsman is in "NO WAY" better than the Grizzly!

    @TheHondaAbuser I don't have a way of recording live video. Just because a person doesn't have video, that doesn't mean they don't have an ATV.
    I do have pics posted on ATV Source and Nyroc ATV forums though. My screen name for both is William.

  • @WKHalford
    @WKHalford 13 років тому

    @HKrider218 Okay, just making sure.
    There's 3 ATV forum sites that I belong to. ATVSource is one, Nyroc is another, and High Lifter is a third. They have lots of good info about each machine's weaknesses.
    One of the more major problems with Can Am is the SST frame. At the very least, it needs a good set of skidplates to reduce damage to the frame spar. The frame can be dented and bent so easily that there are lots of fixes on the internet to strengthen it. You might should check into it.

    @HKrider218 Yes, all machines have good and bad points. But some are worse than average, and the Brute is one of them. The '08 was an improvement with the addition of fuel injection, since it doesn't run quite as lean, making it run cooler. But the '08 also has less ground clearance than the '07.
    So why should I make the Brute ride rougher by cranking preload when I can buy a machine that has more clearance to start with? And bigger tires can be added to any machine, making that a moot point.

    @RoughNeckRage my local dealer sells this exact atv for $7200 or the non powersteering model for $6800

    @HKrider218 After I had the engine in my '07 Brute quit, I sold it, so now I just have an '06 Wolverine 450 4wd. But I just started a very well paying job in northwestern New Mexico (just moved there from Florida), so I hope to get a new utility ATV soon while keeping the Wolverine. The Wolverine 450 is a fairly light and compact ATV that does good at a lot of things. It's easy to ride and won't pull any punches. In fact, like I said before, it climbed steep hills better than the Brute.

    @HKrider218 But you said things like "i HAVE an 08" and "i HAVE 27" swamplights" and "i HAVE a shit load of clearence". The word "have" that you used 3 times is present tense, meaning you CURRENTLY HAVE a Brute.
    Now you are saying you got rid of it in '09.
    Which is it?

    i think i might with grizz. i actually owned a bunch of honda dirtbikes and they really are good. we have a 1986 honda 70 working flawless with low maintenance

    @TheHondaAbuser I forgot to reply my last post to you. Read it.
    And no, I do not lose. Having all 4 wheels pulling, more aggressive utility tires, higher ground clearance, reverse etc. beats a 2wd sport machine without reverse in most any terrain. And I'm not talking about speed, I'm talking about what it will go through.
    And I've had my Kawasaki KLR250 street legal dirt bike stuck as much as, if not more than, my Wolverine 450 and Brute Force 750 combined. Same with my Kawasaki Mojave 250.

  • @WKHalford
    @WKHalford 13 років тому

    @HKrider218 In addition to what I just said, the Brute overheats easily. Lubrication to the valvetrain sucks. For an IRS machine, the ground clearance isn't good. The Brute has flaws that should be addressed with aftermarket fixes (airbox and tie rod ends, etc.). My Brute had less than 700 hours and it seized a crank bearing despite the fact that I took care of it.
    Yes, the Brute kills. It kills the wallet. It kills tie rod ends.The engine kills itself. Maybe you should research it online.

    Im pretty sure he got the wieght wrong..the 2011 model is 22 LBS lighter than the older versions but the 2011 with EPS adds 10 LBS.. so if you get it with EPS its only 12LBS lighter

  • @WKHalford
    @WKHalford 13 років тому

    @HKrider218 Show me where I said anything bad about the Brute. But since you decided to wrongly respond, I will say it now. I had an '07 Brute 750. Although having good power, it constantly required work. The airbox design sucks. Tie rod ends wore out. Once stuck in a mud hole in 2wd, 4wd didn't want to engage (must be engaged BEFORE going in). The CVT design is inferior. Despite my Brute having 27" Mud Lites, more power, and a front locker, my '06 Wolverine 450 climbs steep hills better.

    @WKHalford just lightereh.ok whatever u say lol im quite sure my shee has more power as well. and a dirtbike will go way farther than any atv in almost any terrain. and usually a hell of a lot faster except in snow, but if your so great why dont u make a video of your quad ( i doubt u have 1 ) and a sport quad goin at it. the goof on the utility quad will have a sore ass and wont be able to breath through all the dust.

  • @WKHalford
    @WKHalford 13 років тому

    @HKrider218 I care about clearance, as do quite a few others.
    But if you don't care about clearance, why did you increase preload and add bigger tires?
    By the way, there were very few places, if any where the extra power of my Brute gave any practical advantage over my Wolverine. Power is usually only good for bragging rights and testosterone-induced stunts that can get you killed. In fact, on steep Kentucky hillclimbs, my lighter and more stable Wolverine 450 had an advantage over the Brute.

  • @WKHalford
    @WKHalford 13 років тому

    @TheHondaAbuser The only real advantage those machines have in those situations is the fact they are lighter. That's it.
    If you notice, it specified in capital letters "UNDER THEIR OWN POWER". No way a sport machine will do better.
    Just because your Banshee/450R MIGHT do okay in the rough, that doesn't mean they are superior overall.
    I've had a dirtbike. I know for a fact that there's places a 4wd ute ATV can go a dirtbike can't, and with less effort as well as less risk of getting hurt.

    @HKrider218 And regardless of how much money I have, I still prefer a durable and reliable machine that requires fewer repairs. The more reliable and durable machine is less likely to leave me stranded and less likely to ruin a good day of riding, just like my Brute did. It's that simple.

  • @RoughNeckRage
    @RoughNeckRage 12 років тому

    What do these sell for?

  • @WKHalford
    @WKHalford 13 років тому

    Power isn't everything. In the rough stuff, 4wd, ground clearance, and bigger tires make more of a difference than power.
    I've ridden different kinds including a Banshee, and have owned 4 ATVs, including a sport ATV (Kawasaki Mojave). I know for a fact that a sport machine, while handling good and having great power, will NOT go all the places where an IRS 4wd utility 4wd will go.
    I currently have an '06 Wolverine 450, and did have an '07 Brute Force 750 until I lost my job and had to sell it.

    @TheHondaAbuser Nothing??? Really???
    If you think that you are going to convince anyone that a 2wd limited ground clearance sport machine (with no reverse) will go where these 4wd 25" tire IRS utility machines go UNDER THEIR OWN POWER, you are WRONG. At least you won't convince anyone that has significant knowledge of ATVs.
    There's no way a Banshee will go over those tall logs easier than the Grizzly did. The Banshee certainly would require a LOT more effort. That is a FACT.
