agree, we have made these moves in the past and lost our future. Stay the course and develop on both sides of the ball and accept we are not there yet, its a journey and it is upward.
I'd love to have one of those 3 pass rushers, but since we realistically can't have any of them right now, I think we should be looking at some talented, yet affordable O line help.
O linemen just don’t get traded in the middle of the season. They are not like other positions where you can bring them in in the middle of the season and put them in the game based off of the situation. Positions like defensive ends/pass rushers, running backs or even a corner back can more easily transition which is why you see them being traded the most at this time of year.
Thanks for explaining the cap space issue. I agree with you on Maxx, Miles, etc. Next year 's draft is loaded with DE's and there is the potential for adding someone in free agency. Poles needs to be looking for a right guard now. If he can trade Davis before the trade deadline, does his salary go with him, and thus creates cap space for the Bears?
I'm sure Poles is weighing in all our options to improve while not jeopardizing the future of this franchise. Trust in Poles! I would love to have Maxx or Myles but at what expense? There's younger and cheaper talent out there. Poles and Ian will find them.
The defense is already pretty damn good. If they trade for anyone I would rather they traded for an offensive lineman. This defense is good enough to win championships already if healthy. Going all in for one of these pass rushers in Caleb's rookie season just seems pretty damn desperate and unnecessary. We'll have a better chance over the next few years when he's more experienced. That's when they should make their move.
Offensive linemen don’t get traded in the middle of the season. First there’s already a dearth of offensive linemen as it is so no matter how bad a team is they just aren’t going to trade a good one. Second, you just cannot stick a guy that hasn’t played with the team on the offensive line like you can a D lineman. There ‘s a reason why the o line is the ONLY position group that doesn’t rotate guys in and out of the game.
@@kenyattaclay7666 Usually they don't, but it can happen. If a team has a young lineman that they want to develop and he's sitting behind a veteran and they decide to tank the season and sell off assets, then there's a chance you might be able to get that veteran. There's various scenarios where it can happen. Maybe the guy is due for an extension or a new contract and they can't afford to pay him so they trade him to get something instead of just letting him walk in free agency. My point still stands, though. If they can't trade for a lineman I'd rather they not mortgage the future on one of these pass rushers in Caleb's rookie season. It's just not the right time for that.
@@A2theJ9 actually no your point doesn’t stand because this just doesn’t happen. Seriously, give me the name of the last offensive lineman that was traded in the middle of the season. If a team has a gut they want to develop they do that in the offseason but they do not under ANY circumstance actually trade a good lineman in the middle of the season so even saying they should trade fir one is just a waste of breath.
@@kenyattaclay7666 It actually still does. My point is basically try and trade for an O-lineman. If you can't, and I acknowledge it's not likely, then fine, don't waste any capital on any other position THIS YEAR. The Bears will be in a better position all around for the next few years before these guys need to get paid and Caleb continues to improve. Going all in this year doesn't make sense.
@@A2theJ9 no it’s not because that’s like saying try & be 7 feet tall, you either are or you aren’t. As I’ve said before, you cannot bring in an offensive lineman in the middle of the season and just insert him in to the lineup, this is not a WR where you can just have him run a couple of routs even without knowing the offense. This is not a defensive end where you can have him come in on passing downs until he knows the defense. This is not a cornerback where you can just have him read & react to one guy. Those guys can play individually & offensive line can’t which is why teams don’t trade for them in the middle of a season. The ONLY exceptions to that would be if one already knows the system but then I go back to the fact that teams aren’t will to trade them no matter how bad they are. For example Joe Thomas. The Browns at one point won 1 game in 2 1/2 years yet no team tried to trade for him nor were the Browns trying to trade him in the middle of the season. However there was talk about possible trades AFTER the season but never during.
I'm honestly glad that I dont get paid to make these decisions 😂. You know that if these players are actually available that Poles and staff have checked and weighed it out. Thank you Swift...BEAR DOWN!
Keep it up Young Man ! You are the Best . Yes the Future is definitely on our Side . We need to keep our Draft picks next year and Build through the Draft and get rid of our Dead weight . GO BEARS !
We don't need another edge rusher. The price and juice is too much. We need offensive lineman. The salary is too much. We would be in cap trouble for years
Solid team building through the draft has been proven to be the way to go. I would not give up the cheaper top draft choices and prefer to live within our means unless the value of the deal is ridiculously good and a sure thing.
Agree but one minor omission is could you send players and picks other way to get a starter. 6M not getting u much esp it cannot restructure. I prefer to keep picks as not player away and oline needs improvement before defense.
Appreciate the video on it Swifty. Bears should keep their picks and be patient. But wouldn’t hurt to be on phone with Raiders driving any trade talks up if Detroits asking tho
Get them all. The Bears get all the pass rushers. So what are we going to give up? Leave this team as is and add to it in free agency and draft. See how far the Bears can go. Barring injury.
we reset the rookie clock for this very reason, IF either do come up in and the bears want to pay the price to get them Ryan Poles and co. will figure out a way to make it work. Where there's a will, there's a way.
It's tough because i love all 3 but man i really don't want to trade away all our draft capitol plus we have a really good secondary that will want paid soon so taking on a superstar contract will really make it tough
Detroit has to pay some players as well so that $27M is not $27M. Also, what picks does Detoilet have to offer? I’m not saying the Bears do that trade. I’m just saying Detoilet has business of their own to work out.
To quote you Swift: the 2025 draft class is loaded with edge rushing talent. Why not go with one or two of those guys? Along these lines, how about those Georgia edge rushers? Wow!
Man, im tired of hearing about these mega stars getting moved at Dline. I just dont believe it. I could see Myles Garrett getting moved because of that horrific cap space issue, but realistically hes one of the only bright spots they have, so its doubtful. In theory, they could get one of these players and do a contract restructure/extension to address the cap a bit. But they would have to do some wizardry.
I dont think the Bears can pay for someone like Crosby at this time. Would prefer to trade for a run stopper DT in Dexter Lawrence or an OL in Teller from CLE.
I’m hoping they stick to the draft for the trenches both sides need it this off-season and then the push begins next season, especially with all that defensive talent you had on the video about a week ago guys like big Dex that will be corner stones for the next decade not just a few seasons 🐻🔽
Hey Swifty, do we know if Poles is looking for a certain player right now to trade? If anyone, who would be a possible candidate? Rumors are that Herbert could be a trade candidate. Did you make a video about this possibility already? I've been a little MIA. Bear Down brother.
Too much draft capital, and then would have to pay them... Then the years draft is so deep at DE... Why, we are not making a Superbowl run this year... And if we draft an end we have so much draft capital to address our offensive line.
People are just throwing nonsense out there. If and I mean IF the Bears trade for another defensive look for someone like Chase Young who they probably could get for a 5th and he’s on a one year contact with the Saints.
