Very impressed with this kid for being 17. Very composed, well spoken. If people are mad, get mad at the AMA for the rule, not a kid that is simply smarter than the rest of them for knowing the rules.
Yup, he should have went through with it...but 17 he chickened out I would have told the dealer "guess what I don't ride for you now"...LOL Take up trail riding, take up Enduro's...a rule is a rule.
He is not smart enough to know what theft is. There are lots of rules that are immoral, and that is one of them. You do not become moral by following immoral rules.
@@EarthSurferUSA How is the rule immoral? the rule is literally in place to ensure the morally fair playing field for all amateurs at an amateur event. It's in place (as discussed in the video) to dissuade teams from running bikes that are unobtainable or prohibitably expensive bikes at an amateur level. If yamaha had built the bike with the rules in mind (as other teams do), they would not risk the potential loss of 10's of thousands of dollars and could simply take the money and build another bike.
It's my opinion that Yamaha was wetting their pants because they had works factory parts in that bike. They admitted it when they told Brennan he couldn't get parts for it. This rule was drawn up to stop factories from doing this very thing. Great channel Tyler.
If I was the CEO of any other factory team I would invite this kid over for a weekend and let him ride all the factory bikes. Let him bring the gopro and he can even put the video up on UA-cam. Imagine the good publicity you would get from that. The kid has serious balls by trying to claim deegans bike and he didnt even do anything wrong.
He failed. He was strongarmed into dropping the claim out of fear of losing sponsors. At what point does the law have to get involved? Some dude spent 3 days in county jail and was fined 12,000$ for putting lead weights in his fish during a derby. Hayden was NOT cheating. His entire team WAS cheating when they protested the claim rule and continued to ride the bike. What the fuck are rules even for?
The spirit of the role is that a competitor that gets beat and thinks the guy has been cheating can claimn the motorcycle. This kid said that Hayden could beat him on any bike and he just wanted his motorcycle.
The point is keep cost down and a relatively even field. This would have been great for the sport as factory teams would have to think twice the next time they race amateur races which is the point of the rule.
This guy is a rat and loved he’s was just trying to leach if your parents are poor blame them don’t go after someone else because your life sucks….. the narrative of trying to catch a cheater is bs
I am so confused. Who WOULDNT want to own a completely FACTORY Star racing Yamaha bike for a measly $17k? I’m guessing most people commenting don’t ride. I would easily pay that for one of their bikes and tear it down just to look at all the little things they have done to it
Yea Fosho, but these guys usually don't have 17k on a whim, if I could I would 100% they are pretty different than show room bikes and would be insane to just ride as is
And then their hours of testing and setups are useless. Im sure everybody would want one! But it aint fair. A friend of my brother in law bought 2 of tucker hibberts backup race sleds from arctic cat and neither one had engine work but were faster than my brother in laws, same year, same sled. Its the cdi! They wont tell him what they did either. Its just fast as hell and if the cdi zaps for some reason they will send him a new one but not the race one. With cat if you want your stock cdi tweaked you have to send it to them as far as i know but you wont get the full race cdi. Factorys protect that shit for a reason! Thats their edge and thats fair
the claim rule is specifically in place for this situation. It should stop armatures from running pro gear. The "It took us too long and too much money" is exactly why the claim rule is there.
I am a lifelong Yamaha rider and after this ordeal I have lost a lot of respect for the company. Brennan followed the rules and for Yamaha to threaten him is insane. Deegan was riding a factory bike which shouldn't have happened and he was busted. The bike should be in Canada right now but they put the pressure on him and he had to withdraw the deal. Now I learned that Brennan lost his sponsorship which is completely unfair. Yamaha threatened his sponsor. This whole deal is crazy and unfair.
Yeah, it’s definitely a bad look for Yamaha. I’d be lying if I were to say that this won’t influence my purchasing decisions going forward. What a shame…
The way you went about it in general was shitty…serves you right. Just bc you can talk calmly in situations doesn’t make you entitled to get what you want when it’s basically highway robbery. Cry about it this year, get over it. Then figure it out…..your not ENTITLED just bc your young & you want it! Stay steady and you’ll have your dreams in a few years. Dueshbag….
You can ride a factory bike in Loretta's the rule is simply in place to kind of sway people from putting tens of thousands of dollars in to a bike that someone else could potentially take but other than that there was definitely no cheating involved I don't agree with how it went down but anyone who says because he was riding a factory bike he cheated is crazy
Tim cotter and Brian should have never had that kid in a room himself making him feel bad for doing what he was doing, Yamaha U.S. should have never threatened the Canadian local shop, and Star shouldn’t have sent a pro spec factory bike to an amateur race period. Everyone in this list should be ashamed of themselves. Hayden and Schofield just want to ride, the adults here acted freaking despicably. I ride Yamaha and support the team through Merch. And buying bikes etc, and this is disgusting.
He is in a world published interview with an adult by himself in this video?? That whole narrative is rubbish. He is playing victim. He could have easily asked for his dad to be there... I mean his dad should have been with him in the first place. Kids walking around with 17k cash, member he said "they counted the money". Where was his dad when that happened?? This whole me by myself with adults story i don't buy it. If you are a minor and you are claiming the best amateurs riders bike, your parents or dad is gonna be there. This kid is twisting this whole thing to look like a victim when he made an immature decision that HEAVILY backfired, how he didnt see it coming i dont know, and is now playing victim. He rides yamaha and caused trouble with a factory yamaha team. Thats like taking a dump on your own doorstep and being angry that it smells.
I understand fully, why Yamaha, Brian and that old guy acted the way they did. It’s a damn near if not fully factory bike that is heavily safeguarded from public knowledge. But, regardless, the fact that he was targeted, because of his claim is absolute garbage. The threats and the scare tactics that Yamaha imposed are also garbage. Don’t bring secret motors and technology to a race, that you’re not willing to have the public find out about. This isn’t the pro’s.
Too big to Fail case, Too bad the kids sponsor was a yamaha dealer , any other Brand, looks like the kid would have had the star Yamaha. Thats what it came down to , which was actually brilliant move my Yamaha, to figure all that out within a few hours.
@@brianricoh3242 not much odds, they suck anyways. I know who they are. They’re not just a Yamaha dealership, honestly wouldn’t even call them that. Rallaye Motoplex, Moncton New Brunswick.
Claiming is not common at Loretta's at all. It's only happened a few times in 30 years. Mike Alessi and Ricky Carmichael I know for sure. It's used as a competitive weapon, because everyone knows it's a B/S rule. Do it and dont ever show up at a track again type move. Not for youtube and joy rides.
The whole point of the rule is to keep the machinery relatively equal and magnify the rider talent. If Star racing wants to give Deegan an unfair advantage by giving him a factory bike, then they need to suffer the consequences. I wish Brennan would have went through with the purchase.
He didn't need a full factory bike, throw his forks and shock on a stock bike and he'd still win... After the Pro race when the track was at its worst, he threw down a laptime nearly 2 seconds faster than the fastest guy in the pro class. He didn't need it, it was dumb to bring it knowing that rule... with that said, they arent the only ones. Honda and Team Green are running Unobtainium parts too. Alessi got one claimed years ago, it had factory parts
@@allannelson10 no it’s not😂 the rule says give up the bike or be suspended from racing for a year in AM… they used there power to get around the rules

The claim rule is good and serves a purpose but this situation shows that it definitely needs to be amended. For example, anybody making a claim should be free to remain anonymous if they choose. There should be no outside interference allowed to happen. You make the claim, lay down the cash, the bike gets tagged/impounded/etc, then the claimant should be free to pick the bike up at a reasonable location and in a manner that helps prevent all of the outside interests from playing their games.
@@crazyman2821 of course the cheating thing was crap. Doesn't matter. The claim rule exists to try to prevent people from dumping tons of money into bikes and using unobtanium parts. That can all be legal, but you risk losing all of the money and custom parts if somebody puts up the cash to claim it. His reasoning doesn't matter. When you sign up, you agree to forfeit you bike by way of the claim rule if somebody wants to go that route. People have claimed plenty of bikes solely because of their value. If we all agree to run 10,000 bikes and you show up with a 50,000 bike, why wouldnt somebody claim yours? Cheating isn't the issue and was only ever mentioned by people who weren't part of the situation and who have no idea what they're talking about. The kid should've followed thru with the claim. Its extremely likely that Lorettas was as far as he'd ever go anyway so there's no need to worry about burning bridges in the industry. Get the bike, ride it, tear it down, make videos about everything, gain the following and the earnings, and have a cool bike to ride and race for a while.
Seems to me the kid should have never been approached by anybody other than AMA officials if the rules were followed. This event shows the integrity from everyone from the Deegans to the AMA. I can foresee legal implications from this deal, and there should be. If Yamaha, Brian Deegan, Star, and everybody involved wants to make this right this kid should be on the same spec bike that he claimed with zero hours. I see no issue with them bringing 100k bikes to race. They just need to let the rest of the field buy after them up after each race without complaining. If that's the level of bike they want to race in Mod, they can built one for everyone at 17k a pop
@@garettodd3037 Why In the hell does haiden need a pro mod factory bike for a amateur race ? I can’t put a turbo on a nascar and go race next to Kyle bush on the track without getting kicked off. You aren’t lining up a 300whp Honda next to a 1500whp pro mod at the drag strip. Makes no sense

Their actions about this guy claiming the bike clearly shows that the bike was not a legal bike. I mean in the end the kid made the decision to not buy it. He realized that the repercussions were way more severe than the bike was worth. Truthfully that’s what Matt walker was telling him by saying it’s an unwritten rule. You know if you do that to a team there’s gonna be repercussions. Yamaha could have just said nope your not taking it and loaded it up and took it back to the shop. Maiden would have had to deal with the consequences. So Yamaha just turned around and said ok you can buy this bike, but this will be your consequences. Everybody saying it’s a rule they should have let him take it are so out of touch with the big picture. It’s like people who walk out in cross walks in front of trucks because they have the right to cross and the truck has to stop. The amount of r&d work into those bikes is years and years. That r&d goes into the production bikes over the next few years. If you think Yamaha was just gonna say yeah sure here take the bike, let’s us get you a little care package of extra parts I’m surprised you can even read or spell to be able to comment.
@@chadsanner792 you literally just explained why that rule is in place, lol. The rule is there so factories don’t send their too secret stuff to an amateur race and keeps the playing field somewhat level. If they want to risk it and use their factory parts, then they’ve signed up for a chance that someone can go and claim that bike fair and square. The rule has been there for forever. Maybe it needs to be revamped, but the kid did nothing wrong and it sounds like he was feared into not going through with the claim. The Deegan’s really shouldn’t have been involved with this anyways because it’s not their bike. They have nothing invested into it. It’s the teams bike and they chose to run the bike they did and they got called on it. Leave that stuff for the big pro nationals. Should make factory teams think twice about not only cheating (I don't think they were, I don't know anyone who does) but these situations too.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 nothing was 1 of a kind or prototype. Star is the factory Yamaha race team. Deegan is an employee /rider of there's. Bike was probably worth 50k. The biggest issue was the ECU. But if he just wanted to ride the bike and film a you tube video riding it. He could have asked haiden and just gone to California and ridden on deegans track with haiden and huck and probably Brian and then played with there can ams etc. But kid did lie about being alone in room with tim and Brian as the head of ama was in the room with them. As the office they were all in was his office, Tim's office and 1 other person's also. Great article in racerx about this. But also Schofield signed a document with Star Yamaha that says he wasn't pressured at all. So... This is confusing. His dealer only says they told him it was a bad idea as it's unwritten rule to not claim factory team bikes. Only happened 3 times before this. Plus why haidens, why not the other star Yamaha rider. Or the other 5 or so teams. PS factory engine is legal in mod class, it's not cheating. But deegan supposedly ran last race with stock engine and ran fastest times of year at LL Next year he will be pro. Deegans only wanted the bike cause it was his last race at Loretta Lynn's. They keep all the special bikes
@@cw93711 I totally understand and agree with everything you said. But what you didn't mention was the actual rule, the rule goes like this: Any rider's bike can be claimed for double the MSRP. The motivations of the kid couldn't be more meaningless. Fact of the matter is, those are the rules. If you don't like them, you're welcome to not race there. A guy like Haiden Deegan could very easily completely skip Loretta's and all AMA Amateur Nationals for that matter and still have a long promising pro career. Or, Stock bike, throw suspension on it for his weight, and he'd still win every moto barring mechanical issues. Then when some jackass claims his bike, cool, they spent $17k on a bike worth $10k. The way I see it is because of the rule, Loretta's is essentially slapping a $17k sticker on every bike. If your bike is worth significantly more than that, or you're worried about secrets being leaked, you're pretty god damn stupid if you still show up to race it. The Deegans claim to not know about the rule, maybe that's true. But that doesn't matter either. Ignorance of the law works the same way, doesn't matter if you didn't know you couldn't have anything hanging from your rear-view mirror in Minnesota but you can in Iowa, the Trooper in MN will still write you a ticket either way. I see this in the same light.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 another reason why Deegans claim about not knowing the rule doesn't matter is because it's not exactly his bike. It's not like he bought it off the showroom floor and built it himself. The kid shoulda got the bike, nobody should've been allowed to question him in any way, especially not in random sidebars, and anybody making a claim should be able to remain anonymous if they wanted. The rule is a good rule but it needs to be amended to prevent bullshit like that from happening next time. And I'll bet that we won't have to wait long for the next claim or even multiple claims at the same event.
This dude is a legend, 17 years of age and knows his rule book well, knows his rights and is calm collected about it. Sounds like Brian Deegan fears losing his fame and is actually a very 'weak' person to do what he did by questioning a 17 year old in that manner. I hope the Deagans can provide more clarity as Brian has done a tremendous job raising Haiden into the athlete he is and should all this be true as Brennan says then its pretty shameful of them as a family.
Brennan Schofield class act. It would be a great idea to make sure NOBODY slanders/defames you, your family, your techs, nobody in your crew. Brennan, you handled yourself very well at 17. The other side, not so much. The General is now a private. Great podcast.
The way the Deegan team acted and said makes it hard to believe anything but " They were cheating".......and you damn right I'll remember" Deegan the cheater"
I totally support you Brennan just remember not everyone acts like Yamaha, cotter, or Brian if they were no cheating they would not have made such a deal. It’s BS they threatened your sponsor and pressured you into a corner. Good luck man keep your head high and best of luck to you.
How can you say haiden is cheating. Haiden has been dominating lorettas from an early age. He busts his ass and don't deserve for some kid to take his bike
He"s been planning this for ages. they had planned for this to be his last amateur race. lol. Also everyone has only heard onside of the story in detail, the deegans could reply and claim that brennan is lying and this is not what happened. Also pretty stupid rule in my opinion. If people are worried about the motor not being fair in terms of yamaha star products not available to others then they could have protested meaning the motor is checked. if that was the case then all bikes should be checked. i don't think the deegans cheated in my opinion.
@@joshuahannell8481 Brennan is not saying they cheated and Deagan did respond and admitted he was in a room with this kid, but they pulled the vid. Yamaha better hook this kid up as he pulled the claim, no one likes the rule but Haiden would beat them on a stock bike so why didn’t they just run that at a amateur event, then Star would of made money out of the claim. It was a amateur event don’t forget that….
The rule exists to ensure fairness at the amateur level. So, I can just show up with a 450 in a 250 class and have nothing to stop me? The machines need to be similar at the amateur level! Horsepower matters at the start line!!!
@@15007172 yeah you can tell a 500 just like you can tell the difference between a 250f and 450 honestly 250s aren’t far off 450s anymore they have so much horsepower and a 250 is funner to ride to me you can let it bark and most people are faster on 250s except mud and sand
So many questions. How does Brian Deegan not know this is a rule when he’s been in mx for years?! Would Brian let some parent question/intimidate Haiden alone? What would Brian do if a kid followed Haiden back to his camp after claiming his bike? Like, none of that would fly the other way around. There’s so much more I could say about this…Walker, Yamaha…this kid is being blackballed.
I think everyone thought this was a insider deal, when i genuinely think you just wanted a fun bike to ride. The Yamaha bully aspect really fn bothers me.
Brennan, I think you have handled yourself very well through the whole situation it just goes to show you Brennan that everyone always paints a pretty picture but when it comes down to being honest and having integrity the money side always wins!
Some of y’all have never owned a horse and it shows. Ever hear of a claiming race? That’s exactly what this rule is designed for to keep people from sandbagging. Just like we wouldn’t enter our best quarter horse in a local claiming race don’t enter your best bike. Fair is fair. Stand your ground Brennan.
Your philosophy is somewhat flawed. So you don't bring your best horse to a local claimingh race but your 2nd best wins and your cool with that? Why would you enter the race at all? Dumb logic.
@@channeljrs thats literally why there is a claiming rule. To keep sandbaggers from showing up. Haiden would of won on with exhaust and tune. He didn’t need a full factory motor with non shelf parts. Just like I could put our best jockey on a horse not as seasoned and still win.
The whole point of the rule is to dissuade teams or individuals from bringing factory level bikes to an amateur event. The concept is if you put 100's of thousands into R&D of your machine you're at risk of losing all your valuable information, time and effort for 2 x's MSRP. Pretty simple. That's the risk they took sending that bike there. Terrible look for Yamaha and somewhat STAR and I guess Brian too, he should have not been involved at all. He had just posted about how nice it was to be hands off at the races.
Likely he thought Haiden wouldn't have had a bike to race. He had no clue about the rule. As soon as he knew Haiden could use it for the weekend still, I am sure he was hands off and it was then a STAR issue. I just wonder how 'factory' Dax, Ferry, Boespflug, Fineis bikes were. Yamaha threatening to pull sponsors for the kid following the rules is the major issue here.
@@pmccoy8924 he wanted to speak to the kid and ask him why he wanted the bike, what were his intentions, did he plan on trying to "defame" the Deegans, etc. The official who stupidly allowed Deegan to question the kid has stated all of that. @@pmccoy8924 also, it's hard to believe that he didn't know about the rule. It's been the point of controversy a few times over the years. On top of that, most of the riders that I know have known of the rule even though they've never raced there or even attempted to qualify. Beyond that, it's sad to be ignorant to the rules of a sport and venue that you've been involved with for your entire life. He should've never been allowed to be in the same room with the kid. Outside of intimidation, it could serve no other meaningful purpose.
Yup, now he lost the bike and his ride and even though he did nothing wrong, the sport will always blacklist him. Moto is just now. This is a last straw. I never want to go to another race whether to work or watch.

Yes. Bikes brand new, youre worried about metal shavings. Thats only an issue if you suck at building motors. If you built the motor for a deegan, its a built motor.

Everyone back then just knew it was a possibility to happen. I always wondered why it doesn't happen more often . This is crazy.
@2216sammy yeah that's dumb take. It's not like the limon car racing where it really is an unwritten rule. These are highly sponsored factory bikes in some cases and the rule stops billionaire companies from ruining the fun for private teams.
I'd file a lawsuit, Yamaha comes out looking like crooks on this deal, it's extortion for starters and threating someone is also a crime. As for the Cheaten Deegans as they will now forever be known it's a Brand killer.
The rule needs changed because these teams put a lot of time testing to get the bike to suit the rider. UK rules are if you think someone is cheating you can put in an official protest to have the engine stripped are checked that it is within the rules.
Just state the maximum tuning allowed for amateur racing and strip the podium 3, this happens at the IOM TT, I know it’s road racing but it’s the same thing it’s stops full factory bikes dominating.

Brennan you are a fantastic young man, credit to your parents and yourself. You handled your self so well and these people did the complete opposite. Shame on them, the Deegans will lose a lot of fans for this and Yamaha. Such a shame that people do not want a level playing field?
In my opinion ,If everyone involved with that team, Star Racing Yamaha, and they went that far NOT to lose the motor, then there obviously was something inside that was beyond stock and outside the rules. The whole purpose of the claim rule is to self regulate the factorys so they do NOT spend excessive money on exotic materials or machine it beyond what non factory temas cannot do. IT was to keep AMA pro and amatuear Racing affordable for privateers yo have a fair shot at Racing against the top factory teams. Before the production rule American pro motocross had one off factory machines that were unobtainable , exotic and so far above a stock bike that only factory teams could win, even smaller motorcycle companies didnt per se like the anything goes factory bikes because the larger companies could spend double, even triple what they could reasonably afford. The production rule gave is consumers of mx bikes better and better eqp. Lowered the cost of Racing for ALL the teams( in theory) and evened the racing field a little. There certaintly are more local experts and pro privateers now doing very well these days. Look at MXGP where they still have factory bikes. There isnt even a full gate of racers for the main motos let alone 80 people trying to qualify for 40 spots in each class at a AMA national. Little by little the factory teams have out diatanced their bikes from stock ones that this Claim rule is supposed to keep in check. If more people did it....the factory teams wouldnt try to push the rules to the limit and beyond. One thing for sure, it took this kid a lot of balls to claim of all peoples bike. Hayden Deegan. Me personally i would claim Eli Tomacs....lol( even tho i know i cant...you have to be in same class....its a joke already) Bbrraappp!!

@@chadsanner792 you literally just explained why that rule is in place, lol. The reason that rule exists is to make racers think twice about cheating. Claiming is done on regular bases, where stock engines are required.
Well that, but also for exactly this reason. AMA doesn't want factory teams racing $100k+ motorcycles with one of a kind prototype tech racing in amateur races. Leave that stuff for the big pro nationals. Should make factory teams think twice about not only cheating (I don't think they were, I don't know anyone who does) but these situations too.

Brian had beef with TP when he was only a teenager, imo hes just a bully
Yamaha owes that kid a factory bike.
Thanks for sharing this story, Everyone that has done this before got the same treatment.
This will be the most memorable story of the entire 22 season.
Let's see how many folks CLAIM in 23 now that everyone knows about the rule.
Should be banned from racing for this year and next.
They would lose time, money, and data. Worse loss than caught cheating
I dont think they were cheating. I think they showed up with a $75K full factory bike and did not want to part with it.
@@SOLDOZER it’s cheating if they intimidate someone into not claiming the bike. Not cheating for having a mod in a mod class
Shady as hell.. Congrats to Brennan for earning his own money to do this.
And this is why they came out and announced haiden will no longer be racing amateur races. Wow this is amazing
oh damn didn't hear that.
He’s got 2 more combines before pro.

Your learning a valuable lesson, the rules are only rules for those without money and connections.
Yep, he may be fast, but he's not faster than money.
Imagine how many people going to be trying to do this now or will they change the rules
Or....they might actually follow the rules!
The rule exists to ensure fairness at the amateur level. So, I can just show up with a 450 in a 250 class and have nothing to stop me? The machines need to be similar at the amateur level! Horsepower matters at the start line!!!
How about stuffing a CR 500cc in a 2022CRF frame for 250cc amateur motos? Now that right there would be the shit.
@@Getsometwo you MIGHT get the holeshot😆
If you had good clutch delivery…
But seriously, I would assume a protest could be filed if someone tried?
@@15007172 yeah you can tell a 500 just like you can tell the difference between a 250f and 450 honestly 250s aren’t far off 450s anymore they have so much horsepower and a 250 is funner to ride to me you can let it bark and most people are faster on 250s except mud and sand
Not true read the rule book before you comment
@@mototodd I was over exaggerating, just saying there has to be mechanisms in place to have parity.
Facts
Becuase no one does this.
Respect this kid,is so hard to get support in mx if you dont have connections.
This kid has such poise for a 17-year-old. Good for him.
Bulling at the highest level, when you really look into it. Sad day for Yamaha, sad day for Brennan. Sad day for Loretta's 2022
Earned mad respect for Brennon. Shame on Yamaha. They could have offered him a day on his bike and not come out looking like A Holes.
A day??
More like gave him a bike to make him some what happy, right now they all look like a bunch of grown man that scared a kid to "not"claim the bike
But they have spent months and way more than 17k setting up this bike for a jealous kid to come take it away
@@bolas_dirtbike2066 what a dumb comment, thats what this rule is supposed to avoid happening

Dumb logic.
@@channeljrs cause my best horse is running in bigger non claiming races ;) not flawed at all.
@@Ernest20071 Yeah, but if you win, you potentially lose a horse.
@@channeljrs thats literally why there is a claiming rule. To keep sandbaggers from showing up. Haiden would of won on with exhaust and tune. He didn’t need a full factory motor with non shelf parts. Just like I could put our best jockey on a horse not as seasoned and still win.
I came here to say the same thing about horse races. Thanks for saying it first.
Claimer rules are common in the auto dirt track racing leagues. The purpose is to keep the costs down.
Keeps cheating down…..except the deegans are obviously cheating.
There was no mention or concern about being able to race the bike.
@@pmccoy8924 the kid ended up losing his ride
He picked up a new ktm today though to ride for now
That really sucks that he didn't go through with the claim. I think that was a mistake.
He should have NEVER caved.
Yep. It was a done deal and he should've stayed the course.
Yup, now he lost the bike and his ride and even though he did nothing wrong, the sport will always blacklist him. Moto is just now. This is a last straw. I never want to go to another race whether to work or watch.
Almost guarantee if he knew he was still gonna lose his ride that thing would be sitting at his house right now
@@54raceman I'd bet 17k you are right.
Dude, that's a crock of shit. 100% this kid is owed a factory star bike. They need to make that right that's not how we do in this sport this sport you would get the shirt off a man's back and food off his plate if you needed it. This, this is some car racing bullshit. Somebody get this kid the best lawyer
They were cheating. 100%
It’s not cheating you just run the chance of someone buying a $100k bike for $17k.
If its a factory bike wouldnt it not have a normal vin and there for wouldnt it not have an msrp to double?
Yes. Bikes brand new, youre worried about metal shavings. Thats only an issue if you suck at building motors. If you built the motor for a deegan, its a built motor.
@@kodylaird9342 the claim rule is twice msrp available model year bike.
It was a mod race. It wasn't cheating
Totally legal.
Wow. Just shows you how much of an advantage it is to have a factory bike.
My friend claimed villipoto's supermini at mini o's back in either 03 or 04 . I don't think anyone was pumped at kawi . But I never heard of any controversy over it at all. Everyone back then just knew it was a possibility to happen. I always wondered why it doesn't happen more often . This is crazy.
That’s sick what did he do with it ?
@C.Nash Dumb take
Big money cheating.
@2216sammy yeah that's dumb take. It's not like the limon car racing where it really is an unwritten rule. These are highly sponsored factory bikes in some cases and the rule stops billionaire companies from ruining the fun for private teams.
BTW, it's now the Alessi / Deegan express train.
Didn't Alessi have a extremely good amateur career?
Not common but does happen. Adam Chatfield claimed Mike Alessi's CR85 after Loretta's back in 02 I believe.
Great Talk! glad Brennan was able to share his perspective. Great kid that is real mature for his age.
UK rules are if you think someone is cheating you can put in an official protest to have the engine stripped are checked that it is within the rules.
nice
This rule should stay! It keeps the racing fair.
Just state the maximum tuning allowed for amateur racing and strip the podium 3, this happens at the IOM TT, I know it’s road racing but it’s the same thing it’s stops full factory bikes dominating.
Rule should stay Deegans ain’t smart enough to read
Makes me wanna go claim this bike and sell it to the kid, goes to show the deegan's of this world get whatever they want, total bs.
I really love the Deegans they single handily got me back into MOTO but somebody needs to get this kid a star Bike he claimed it fair and square worked his but off I hate to see the little guy get stepped on!

I'm 37. Grew up in racing. Family had a dealership. I was able to ride a motoxxx 450 bike only one time back in 07. Big bird was a good teacher. I was a upper c rider and never felt power like that from a 04 crf450. He said was training is everything. Guys I'm up in the air on this. There is a lot riding on this video. It's star yamaha. U never see tomac in any deegans videos bc of this training. Hell Webb would show up and pass me, and I was on 450, like I was standing still along with Osborne and they were on 85s at our private track in SC. It's a double egde sword. I give props to him coming out on this video. Guys just remember that there is a lot of technology that teams pay for to not get out. Hell I went to jgr training facility in 08 for ride day and was amazed at the prototype foot pegs they had! They old 2stoke days are gone. Efi technology that they have is crazy. Just putting in my 2 cents. It's hard but hear both sides before you throw rocks. It's like this in every motor sport racing, Nascar, drifting, f1, hell even sxs mud events with nitrous. Nobody want to give up the edge.
In the pro class yes. Not in the amateur class. They shouldn't have ran a factory bike if they weren't willing to lose it.
then dont put a full factory race bike in LL. did you see any of Pro circuit factory bikes there. nope mitch know this can happen.
No I’ve lost respect for all the deegans all that Christian talk not fir me to decide but bryan will burn in hell for the UA-cam front he’s out on hailiedeegan nudes are all I’ve the internet
Brennan you are a fantastic young man, credit to your parents and yourself. You handled your self so well and these people did the complete opposite. Shame on them, the Deegans will lose a lot of fans for this and Yamaha. Such a shame that people do not want a level playing field?
yoo how can u say that when hes winning in pros are u crazy my man
In my opinion ,If everyone involved with that team, Star Racing Yamaha, and they went that far NOT to lose the motor, then there obviously was something inside that was beyond stock and outside the rules.
It was a mod class he can have whatever he wanted
@@jaidengodfrey5380 no ....not whatever they want. Even pro bikes have limits. Read the rules ....granted you can do a lot....but there are still rules....why does everyone try to disagree. If you understood what i said is the claim rule is their to limit the amount of Money a factory team or wealthy person could do and make Racing somewhat affordable and fair. I Never said anything about star Yamaha cheating only they have something they shouldnt ( excessive Money invested= unfair advantage) so even if everything was légal the mère fact that they spent crazy Money time and recources is why their bike was claimed. Jeez....even a supermodified race car has rules dude.
This wasnt right Bren . My hats off to you for the way you handled this . Dont let this define you . You are the bigger man period !
