Great info, mate. There's lots of amateur tutorials but not heaps of information for those of us who are trying to do this on a higher end scale for our important clients. Well done.
Hi, Thanks for the awesome tutor, I have one question, I am having trouble while viewing the vr 360 video in iPhone, the VR Glass icon is not showing, I mostly create content only for google cardboard for education purposes. Can you help me. Thanks
Thank you very much, the video helped me a lot. I needed to upload some 360 ° Renders made in 3ds Max and your explanation was very helpful. Greetings from Mexico.
Hello from NYC! Thanks for this tutorial. I got so much valuable information to edit my 360’s. You cover so many important areas of editing and it is fantastic how you show us to use the proxies. Yay!
I've benefited very greatly from your demonstration. I am immensely appreciative of your work. I learned exactly what I was looking to learn and far much more because you gave that much extra. If I gave one critique, I'd recommend if you have things like, when you talked about line up your horizon line. I know you have a video about that. It would be nice for a mention to that video to understand how you do that in this one. Thats all. Please continue your work.
Actually, there are no major changes. Basically the workflow is the same. The biggest upgrade ever is that Premiere Pro added metadata injection option. Before that we always had to create an 'injected' copy of the exported video manually, which was very disturbing. At least we can skip this now! 🙂
Hello Sir. I was hoping you might tell me how to fix the black circles on the top and bottom of the 360 videos? I'm using premiere elements. My workflow is usually trim video in instastudio, add music in adobe premiere elements and then inject metadata with spatial media software. Love your videos by the way, most helpful.
Thank you. Basically, black circles shouldn't appear after rendering. You should apply 2:1 aspect ratio and it will be okay. In my case black circles are only visible during editing when proxies are turned on. Unfortunately the basic proxy settings in Premiere work with little bit different aspect ratios, so if you select one of them, your low-res versions will have this issue during editing. But if you turn off Proxies (for example, during color grading), these circles will disappear on the preview, too.
Hello! Thanks for your videos! Consult, how do you remove the tripod from the 360 camera? I think I've ever done it in Photoshop, but I don't remember... I think the nadir was removed from a frame in Photoshop and then superimposed on the video in Premiere... Can you help me? Thank you! Víctor
Hi, I have some different methods for fixing nadir. One of them is using Photoshop. In such cases I like to keep the psd file and import it to Premiere, so I can modify it later, if needed. But it works well in After effects too, if there are some color changes on the scene, and I need a more dynamic solution. Here you can check out my tutorials in this topic: ua-cam.com/video/cDSCUfm31tk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/pss5iRQ4Iug/v-deo.html
I have some dedicated videos for audio, but even in my 360 videos I don’t really use spherical audio, because in most of the cases I add some music, voiceover or dialogues recorded on the spot with lav mics. And in this case, it would be disturbing if audio changes while looking around in 360. The only case when I find spherical audio useful is adding some 360 atmosphere, but in such cases I also keep my dialogues in mono and the music in stereo. (this is something I haven’t created tutorials about, but sounds like a great idea) 🙌🏻
Hello! I have a weird question. I edited a flat equirectangular image to look like it was spinning around in VR, but I want to export the video as a normal, flat video that looks like the VR viewer, but doesn't actually have VR 360 capabilities. How do I do this?
Hi, Actually, it's another technique when you create a reframed video with some "virtual camera movements". It's also possible to do, and I have many tutorials on my channel with different camera tricks and techniques, and most of them are based on this method. Basically you need to create a normal 1080p 4K sequence, and drop your 360 footage there. Then you need to apply GoPro Reframe FX plugin (or any other reframing plugin) and add keyframes to generate that fake camera movement. You can add this effect to the clip you edit or you can use it on an Adjustment layer, just like I do in this tutorial from 05:40: ua-cam.com/video/1a2swOUSK6c/v-deo.html Or you can see it in this video here from 04:45, when I apply reframing right on a video file (or Nested sequence) ua-cam.com/video/1pMw-x_JcaM/v-deo.html Of course, exporting will be the same as you were working with normal videos. You shouldn't export it as a VR video, but simply in 1080p or 4K 16:9 (or whatever you want). I hope this is what you were looking for.
Hi Gaba! Great video, very useful tips 👍👌 I work with the full 360 footage, without any reframing. I export the videos in insta360 studio first, and then use the exported footage to merge multiple clips together in Adobe premiere. My issue is, when I export the final video in premiere, the video quality declines, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I use similar settings as you showed when I export. Thank you for any info you can give me 🙏
I have tried many time but not able to export my 20 minutes insta 360 pro Video from premiere pro, it always get hang after 10-15 percent. Do you have any solutions for that. Thanks
Well, sometimes I had similar issues, and I tried to investigate the problem. In some cases simply restarting the computer could help, but sometimes not. Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive, and check out where your a premier cache files are. If it’s another hard drive, check out the free space on that drive too. In many cases some transitions or effects cause this problem, so I prefer exporting with Média Encoder. The advantage of it is that you won’t loose the rendered video even it’s hang at some place, so you can check out where the problem is. You can see the critical part and double check the effects and transitions around that point, and you can modify something to avoid the problem. In some cases I turn off and effect, delete a mask or transition, and it can solve the problem.
I’m working with Premiere, installing Premiere Pro plugin for Insta360 videos, so I can work with insv videos just like with any traditional mp4 or mov clips
Hi, I have several tricks during editing and even colorgrading. The key for me is using masks and treating different areas separately in my videos, using a little bit of sharpening, but not oversharpening the video. During rendering it's worth playing around with higher bitrates (somewhere between 60 and 100) and using 2 pass encoding for the best result. If you are interested about my tricks, check out my further videos on my channel about post-production. This is the first episode in this series: ua-cam.com/video/mCwU6WgpEiM/v-deo.html
great video, but just started having this problem after updating, when i import my video into the timeline i can see that the video has sound, but when i insert it into the editing part i dont see no sound bar, cant get it to play, any suggestions?
Hi, What do you exatcly call the "editing part"? 🙂 Actually my timeline is the "editing part" for me, that's where I drag and drop my clips and put the final video together.
Hello! There is a question. 360 videos have too narrow a viewing angle (FOV) by default. Using +/- on the additional keyboard, you can change the angle of view to a larger or smaller one. Question: how do I post a video on UA-cam so that there is a set, desired angle of view, and not the one that UA-cam puts by default?
Man ! I have been looking this video for hours ! Thank's a lot !!!! You're the boss !!! I still have a little question : When i create proxies i can't use "source settings" provided by insta 360 anymore. (i'm talking about the pluging provided by insta 360 that you can use directly in premire pro. Do you might have a solution ? Cheers !
Hi, Well, it's true. When you create proxies automatically (the way I do in this video), you will lose "source settings" in the proxy videos. This can be problem when you apply "Lock direction". In other cases there won't be a big difference. But there are other ways to create custom proxies, if needed. Actually, you can apply all the "Source settings" on a clip and export it in a lower resoluiton. Then you click on the video in Premiere and go to Proxy / Attach Proxies. This way you can attach your low-res video you've exported before with the proper "Source Settings". But don't worry, if you have multiple clips, you don't have to export them one by one. All you need is to create a 'New Sequence From Clip' for each videos, apply "Source settings" and then select all the projects you created from these videos, click on Export and Queue them with the same output settings.
Thanks for the information! I am also looking for a way to have some spaces blacked out. For example I plan on filming a scene in 360 degree but I will use some spot for lighting and I just want to have a black bar there after editing. So people basically just have a 270 degree video. Hope you understand and have a solution. Thanks for that!
Hi, I see what you are looking for, and it’s quite easy to achive. There are several ways to do this, but maybe the simplest way is to create a Color matte (with the same dimensions as your footage) and drag it over your 360 video. Then you should use the crop plugin (or draw a mask) to set up the position over the objects you want to hide in the video. Another option is cropping or masking the 360 video itself, while keeping the sequence settings (dimensions). If you don’t have anything under your video track, it will be black, where you mask out or crop your video.
@@GabaVR Thanks for your answer! That makes sense and I know how to do this. I would just like to make sure it is exactly 270 degrees afterwards, because when filming I will mark a 270 degree angle on the ground so I know where to stand and where not. Do you have any idea for this? Thanks!!
Are you sure you match the project (sequence) settings with the video dimensions? Do these circles appear during editing, in Premiere or after exporting? ...if they only appear after rendering, make sure you have the proper output settings. In older versions of Premiere 5,7K export is not always available, so maybe you should double-check the exporting setup in this case.
hello, can u tell me what is the setting for exporting 360 video(for youtube) in after effect, and do we need to inject metadata (if yes please tell me how)? thank you
Well, i don’t really export videos directly from After Effects, neither. I send my videos to Media Encoder and use the same settings as in this tutorial.
Hello, excellent video 👍as usual. I wonder which kinds of transition do you use ? that VR transitions found in premiere pro ? And for rendering, I heard that is better to do 2 pass instead of 1 to improve quality. Thanks and greeting from France Fabien
Thank you! Well, I simply use the simple Film Dissolve to create a smooth cut between the scenes. I found it the most pleasing both in such cases when I have scenes connected to each other or when I change location. I think it's a simple and nice solution, while it's one of the less CPU or GPU intensive options. And yes, you're right about the 2 pass encoding, but unfortunately I've found that it takes too much time to render. When I export projects for a client who will use my videos in headsets and projected to big screens in events, I take the time to improve quality but for everyday contents I feel okay about the faster solution. Or maybe I'd need a stronger computer for rendering. 😅
I love the POV style of your One R video, and the interesting places you show us. 🙂 By the way, how did you edited your video? Did you apply any color correction and how did you export the video?
