I was brought up in the Mayals by Blackpill and frequently walked to Mumbles. The White Rose was a narrow pub in those days and was a great meeting place for my school contemporaries in the early 1970s. A lovely walk from that building at the beginning of the video, the BCYC with its own squash court next to it. Happy days indeed.
I used to work in the mumbles for a few years it's one of the best places on the South Wales coast, and yes you do see and meet some famous people there thank you for this video, please do one of Abergavenny 😊
I visited the Mumbles for the first time today and it felt like I was abroad the sun was shining and the views looking over to Swansea Bay and the lighthouse were stunning had a lovley walk and explored Bracelet Bay near the pier exploring the rock pools and found a cave under a cliff which was amazing had the best ice cream here too
Two other people that live in mumbles are retired Welsh rugby international legends James Hook and Jonathan Davies (Jiffy). He does a lot of work for the BBC commentating still. I live close to the Mumbles. You definitely haven't seen the best, please come back on a nice day and do the Gower coastal path. You won't be disappointed :) it's a beautiful area. Gin & Juice is also a lovely bar overlooking the bay you definitely won't want to miss
Very interesting. I had a friend in high school we called “Mumbles”, but seriously I’m looking to take a side trip along the southern Welsh coast during my trip to Oxford later this summer. I wonder if this place would be a good idea to visit a typical seaside town in Wales. Other places like Tenby or Pembrokeshire are too far from my home base.
Is there a filter on the camera the blue sky at end above castle not sky blue too dark?and before that I thought it seemed like a shade on the colours.😊
Shame you didn't start at the Pier, up the steps to the Big Apple, where as kids we bought ice cream and pop. And go to the restaurant by the old coastguard station and even further round. Views from there over Bracelet Bay and the Bristol Channel and the north Devon coastline.
If and when you return to Mumbles or Gower for a visit, try to schedule for the annual Mumbles raft race, raises money for the RNLI, very worthy cause for us local who use the sea for our recreation or work. Great day out.
Wow fabulous views
