Just saw an auction listing for one of these and noticed the 6gb of vram. Was thinking that might be interesting to mess around with. I think I'll pass since it seems a bit meh. Honestly I was thinking I'd 3d print a shroud for it and add a blower fan to the end of it. I'd rather not bother, but I appreciate your video. It answered the question of if it would be worth it.
If you edit the vbios with VBE7 it will truly show the full potential of this old Tahiti chip, can almost double the performance just from editing the powe limit to allow +99, great video man, keep the awesome content coming,
Thanks man, I really appreciate the feedback. I will definitely try that when I make a follow up video hopefully sometime next year. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
This crystal has a civilian counterpart! Correct the amount of memory and raise the frequencies in the BIOS and then reflash the programmer! In stock, it is not overclocked, unlike civilians! Sorry for my English, Google Translate!
Fantastic Video. I loved it so much. Such an under rated channel. Also could a just random case fan strapped to the old heatsink work as a gpu cooler. Please do a video benchmarking this gpu in newer games like red dead at 1080 low or medium. please
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I absolutely will put that on the to-do list for when I make a follow up. I really appreciate the enthusiasm. Comments like yours help me think of new ideas and motivate me to do more. :)
I have a s9050 with 12GB of vram in my system. I mainly use it for CAD and Solidworks and just glued a case fan on top and it stays cool. It would run Farcry Primal on mostly maxed settings at 50+ fps
@@AdamTrautmanBowling Not bad, If I ever got my hands on another S9000 or S9050 (for a fair price of course,) I was thinking of doing a cheap budget fan mod for the heat sink or showing off other options for cooling solutions since I feel like I could have made a more affordable or accessible one for this video if I really went all out. Nice to see other people out their using these older GPUs and putting them to good use while having fun with them. :)
@@BudgetBin and it overstocks pretty decent with afterburner. It's been a while so I don't remember for sure but I believe I was able to squeeze out 15-20% more and still run stable.
Thanks man I appreciate the sub, and not to spoil the news but I may or may not have gotten one for $60 on eBay sometime last year ;) expect there to be a video on that one!
It's a tough job, for $125 I think it's a fair enough price. Your best bet it to water cool it. I have some steps in the video if you watch closely. If you don't know how to water cool I recommend looking up a video on how to do that. I was going to make a water cooling video around this time with a GPU similar to this one, but I need to make a video explaining my absence. For now, buy it if you feel like you can do it, and watch some how to videos on water cooling GPUs. Hope this helps! (P.S. when you get the GPU, unscrew on the screws you can find on the board, you can also look up a tutorial on how to do this with GPUs if you are uncertain.)
@@BudgetBin thanks for your advice, I have birthday money so I am looking for a pc I recently found a gaming pc (optiplex) with rx 550 i7 2600k and i think 16gb of ddr3 so i probably wont be able to buy the fire pro :(
@@noahthelaxguy2317 That wouldn't be a bad budget gaming PC for a first time buyer. If you got a GPU with 2gb of VRAM with that all then I think you would have a great PC that you can upgrade later. :)
I have several tesla cards which are similar, and I just bent the heatsink fins and ziptied some fans on them to keep them cool
Id love to see more on this card
These GPU's are intended for you compute. I know you mentioned this :) 800+ GFlops FP64. A great GPU for distributed compute projects (BOINC).
Very cool! 😎
