  • Never add chlorine cleaners inside the tank. This will wear out all your components. Inside the toilet lid is a warning not to add chlorine to the tank. The video is a solution using a product called "Flush and Sparkle" Watch to see how to Install. Master Plumber #40634

Excellent how-to video with clear show-and-tell views and explanation of do's and do not's. Many thanks! PS: My 2 cents. I would have first cleaned the interior of that tank with traditional baking soda + vinegar, then installed the FM cleaner system.

Querencias7 does that work well for cleaning tanks? Maybe I will make a new video on cleaning tank. Thank you

@@CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX Yes, it works well ... provided the tank water is drained first into the bowl. Then a) cover the inside with [white] vinegar from a spray bottle, b) follow right away by sprinkling baking soda all around, c) let it sit for 15-20 min. and, d) wipe (i.e., light scrubbing) with a reg. green pan/dish pad scourer and perhaps a bit more vinegar spray.
Does a very nice job, perhaps yearly; about $5. But thanks again CS for your video. I'm trying the FM system just as you recommended for an EXTRA CLEAN bowl! Edit: Tyop!

I went to Fluidmaster site and the 8100 system is the one for septic systems with the 8102 blue refills.

Hi well sorry that happened to you. We have not experienced that with the units. Maybe it’s a defective unit. They really do work well normally

Mine does the same thing but only a trickle every time I flush, but still lets chlorine into the tank. Enough to damage the parts inside the tank over time. The small gasket at the top wears out. I tried putting Vaseline on the gasket but no good. Still leaks.

The screw in chlorine inserts leak at the top every time I flush. Let's a little chlorine into the tank. Any solution for this?

I believe there is a oring on that it may have been compromised. Unscrew it put some vegetable oil on it put it back In. If that doesn’t stop the leaking maybe another chlorine cartridge

vaseline works if you put it liberally on the o-ring AND the housing.

My toilet has no fill tube attached to fill valve, when I do flush, nothing comes out of the fill valve connector. Are there different types of valves that don’t use a tube?

    • @CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX

Cali Valley some toilets do not put water into the bowl using the refill tube. If yours has this configuration you would have the option of using the ones that hang in the bowl on the side. Or look for the ones that are chlorine free that dissolve into your tank. The chlorine causes premature failure. I did a quick google search and found a couple of chlorine free options

Charles Shurbet: I just replaced the entire valve assembly for $8, it was over 18 years old. Works with the cleaning system, thanks for the reply, appreciated!

I can get refills at Home Depot or Lowes, but none sell the actual system.

Weren't you just moving the bowl fill tube to another location? As long as the float isn't disturbed you should be fine. Unless you have a different system than I'm used to. Although that is a good opportunity to exercise the water supply valve if it's not 1/4 turn. I like that cleaning system though; Bleach without the deteriorating rubber. Sold!

It is so GROSS looking at all the mold and bacteria on that toilet tank lid and toilet tank. Really cringe worthy and sickening. Why wouldn't someone clean that off the toilet tank and lid, especially before you do a video! I mean, I am grossed out! His hands were touching all of that...note to self: never shake hands with a plumber or let one touch you! All I want to get off my toilet bowl are black streaks that come from the holes under the rim where water comes out, just from the back holes. Wonder if this product will eliminate those. Btw...makes no sense to me to turn the water off.

That’s actually the point of the video. Someone had a chlorine block in the tank removing the chlorine. It causes that to grow in the tank. That is a mild chloroform bacteria. Your keyboard at your computer has worse germs than that toilet tank. Lol
