All those dislikes? All from feather board manufacturers, I bet. Personally, I thought this is among the top instructional vid's I've seen. All about the process, with none of the ego you have to endure from most demonstrators. Don't moan about the power tools, either. There's nothing here that cannot be done by hand. Thank you JSK. Love your work. Love your presentation.
I'm really glad I watched all the way through. Was confused as to why it looked like you were trimming the feathers, but making all but three of them shorter to guarantee a set deflection/engagement is CLEVER!
WOOOOOOW! i have so many of those boards which are not suitable for cutting food anymore. always wondered what to do with them. and now i KNOW! thank you so much!!!
Several comments on here along the lines of how these feather boards are over-engineered or how they took too long to make but my Dad always taught us that "a job worth doing is worth doing well" and that "that will do, it's good enough" is only acceptable if you did the best job your knowledge and skill level can produce. I have never felt I wasted time doing things properly and well. Thanks for the great advice Dad!
Ha haha just spotted some continuity problems in this video, it was obviously made in multiple attempts, possibly accidentally ruining one of the boards (which is normal if you do something for the first time) if you look at 5:50 he is making the slots and the left/right sides are already cut, whereas in the following part at 6:25 you see he is cutting the left/right sides off, while the slot has already been cut. Either way it's a great feather board, I like it. I just found this detail amusing. It's also super cool to use all these home made tools, it reminds me of John Heisz who uses his home made table saw, router table, clamps, etc.
superb !! how I wish have all the cool tools on this video. Very neat, clean and tidy. I think I will be more inspired to work on the shop and get more creative the possibilty is endless. Thank you for sharing the skills !!! More power to your channel.
At 5:26 I notice, "Hey. He trimmed the ends and didn't show us." Then proceeds to route the side slots. Then at 6:25 trims the edges with the slots already cut. I'm thinking, "WTF?" Then at 9:42 introduces second featherboard and the temporal anomaly is resolved. Nice project. I have a couple of used cutting boards my wife discarded. Now I have a great use for them. Thanks.
I read an article by a Japanese carpenter where he described his education in the craft, on his first day at work his boss introduced him to the first tool he was to learn - the floor sweeping brush. Begin and end each day in a clean workspace. I only wish the UK had this culture in the construction trades.
Jee muh nee Christmas, dude. Lol. You took the scenic route on this one. I was like, “He’s gonna get to the feather board in a minute. But first, he’s doing some bonus build.” Nope. Just a really difficult version of a really simple task.
Absolutely stunning ideas! Happy New Year! Good luck! You are so motivating and the videos you make are absolutely addictive. Best vids of the kind in UA-cam! Hello & respect from Russia!
Question here for all DIY'ers.. How many of you would need to, or want to make a featherboard from a $3 chopping board..if you had this kind of set-up? Or, put another way, who would want to make a featherboard from a $3 chopping board that didn't realise 1 table saw and maybe a drill would achieve the same result in under half the time?
I hope you will share my videos with your friends!
No plans for this featherboard? I would love to buy them.

I didnt know what a feather board was until now! This is brilliant!
I really appreciate the clarity and cleanliness of your workspace.
Wow! How clean and organized he and his workshop is! Like it very much!
Japan
You're an incredible guy !!! Greetings from Italy !!!

Sometimes economics dictates otherwise. And it was your dad that said that. Its an age old quote. Get over yourself
Beautiful work! And when I saw that you've made most of your tools yourself, well, that was an instant subscription!
Well done! The fact that you were able to get 3 feather boards out of one plastic cutting board is really great! 👍👍😉😉
I’ve never even seen a kitchen that clean! 😳
I like your videos. Can I know what is the brand of the double side tape you use or the link for buying it?. Thank you from Spain
Thank for solving my long outstanding problem long live from Pakistan
Beautiful, as always. Such a simple, common item that can be used as raw material for a very useful tool.
I love this, thx alot.

A great security measure ... Congratulations for your very clean and safe work. 👍👏🙌

Excelente... abrazos desde Argentina.
You are always perfect! Congratulations once more!
Besides a riving knife I think this is the second most important safety tool to have on a table saw.
Or a router table 😉

Nice project. I have a couple of used cutting boards my wife discarded. Now I have a great use for them. Thanks.
this slight of hand was on purpose. it was to find out how many were actually paying attention
Brilliant as usual
I am assuming that your router table is also a home job by you?......if so, what I have seen of it....very impressive!!! Thumbs up to you!!!

Impressionante o talento e capricho!
Adorei, ganhou mais uma inscrita feliz 🥰
Ingénieux et pas chère, bravo
This guy just likes to show of all his cool toys, in his shop. Very nice feather board though.
He did make all the tools himself, so I do think he should show them off. :)
Lasse Bodilsen Do we know that he built them all himself? I assume he did, but I don’t know that he did. His toys are nice.
@@TBrady26 if you watch his other videos, you will see him build the tools.
@@lassebodilsenRight. Every single one of them. It is inded amazing.
Why is every Japanese workshop so clean? What type of dust extraction are they using? Witchcraft?

Un travail absolument parfait et très sécurisant !
Merci pour ton partage
Dislikes are pure ENVY!!!
Anyone else appreciate the delicate dashed lines he did for the cut marks?! Holy moly.
Will Dayble probably due to the textured cutting board surface.
Dude, great video. Making three of these asap. Thank You!!!
Brilliant idea and execution. No wonder
Notable accesorio.
Felicitaciones por el excelente trabajo.
It seems like this would work on a table saw too.

Had no idea what a feather board is, but now I want one!
Really fantastic work, man! Thanks for the tips! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
So smooth! I love the way you put it together and that it is so effective when you use it!

Great project and video. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool! I will have to try this as well, even though I don't have such an amazing looking router table! WOW!
I love your videos.
Clever reuse of a cheap cutting board. We featured this video on our homemade tools forum this week :)
Amazing job
Always wonderful
JSK-koubou You have fantastic ideas and great builds...
