- Winter in Norway is beautiful. The crispy cold air, the snow and soft pastel colours in the sky really can take your breath away. But it also comes with very unique challenges. So, in this vlog I'm telling you everything about what has been going on in these last weeks - the car accident we had, a trip to a snowy off grid cabin and our start into the new year. I really hope you will enjoy this little glimpse into our lives. ♥ We are sending much love from Norway to you!

You live in unbelievable beauty. Your skill in capturing it on video is far exceeds the average videos on this space, Leena. You are a skilled and gifted craftswoman. There are so many other wonderful things in this video: your partnership with Joachim, in capturing his gentle humour and his knowledge of himself, your determination, your philosophy of life, your attitude towards life. I wish you all the best. Good luck with the decisions about the van. Sometimes it's better just to let the old go, but you will find the right solution for you. I am your staunch Canadian supporter (and I know what it is like to live a winter in -40C!)
Aw thank you!! I really appreciate you saying that ❤ Sending best wishes to Canada!
That was some warm and wise words @jonap5740 and I feel the same
if i need to relax when my heart is breaking and im trying to avoid a panic attack...i turn to your videos
It may be cold but the nature, the peace and quiet and serenity would be worth it.
Totally agree with you - such a stunningly beautiful, calm, peaceful place ❤
@@livelikeliz I think a lot of the world’s problems would be solved if we got back to nature and become self sufficient.
It definitely is. ✨
Yup ❤

"Snow and ice are covering the landscapes like a white blanket and nature falls asleep." I just loved this phrase, really beautiful!
I always save your videos for moments where I need to relax and let go of life's concerns.

@@LeenaHenningsen Sad to hear about your accident and car problems.
I went through an accident many years ago and the feeling is the same. "I'm going to crash and it's absurd, like a dream".
Wish you all the best. 🙌
Dankeschön, dass ihr uns an eurem Leben teilhaben lasst. Ich bin begeistert von den schönen Aufnahmen und den persönlichen Texten. Wünsche euch das allerbeste, Gesundheit und Zufriedenheit!
Your videos should be up for an award for being the most breathtakingly beautiful that I have EVER seen on you tube! Hopefully you are both recovering and are focusing on all the positives. You are such a talented couple x x x
Aw Thank you so much! ❤️🙏🏻
I’m sorry for your van but I’m relieved that the 3 of you are safe, it must have been very scary.
Thank you so much for your videos Leena, they are full of beauty, poetry, kindness and peacefulness 🙏🏻
I am just glad you guys are ok after the accident. Minor or otherwise, accidents are truly unnerving. Love Joachim’s sense of humour in spite of all the challenges. You guys are so adorable. Best from Canada. ❤
That's the warmest video about cold I've ever seen. Thank you 🙏
😊🙏🏻❄
When i close my eyes.... i pretend that I am living my dream... tucked away, warm, in the silence of winter... I loved seeing your dog bouncing away, and the beautiful frozen crystals breaking off the tree. Thank you for sharing this beautiful world with me.
Hello how are you doing?
These videos are masterpieces, nature is breathtaking. Small peaceful story with nature scenes comes well along and complete each other. Videos also bring focus nicely to essentials, what is really important in our lives which is far away from what our capitalistic world tries to convince us daily. Thank you for all the videos (I have watched them all 😁) and good luck with the car 🤞🏻
❤❤❤
Thanks Krassi!! 🥰🙏🏻
Leena, what you said at the end of the video about the challenges and also the rewards of living there was exactly what I was thinking throughout the video because you perfectly conveyed that here. Life is harder there in many ways, but the rewards are unparalleled. Please continue to share your amazing lives with us.
Hello how are you doing?
Sorry to hear about your accident…,on a positive note, this UA-cam was fabulous-the scenery, the colors, and all the moose, We thoroughly enjoyed the whole video! So beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏻❤️
As long as you are both ok that’s what matters most. Cars can be replaced. Thank you for your beautiful filming. My ancestors came from Norway and I love the beauty of the country.
wieder ein klasse Video, danke Leena =) bedauerlich wegen eurem Van, glücklicherweise ist euch nix pasiert, das ist die Hauptsache. liebe Grüße aus Berlin =)
So sorry to hear about your accident! I'm glad you are alright and sending lots of love 💕 Thank you so much for taking us on a visually stunning journey in this video and sharing your thoughts and wisdom! Life in this unique place must be rough, but it looks so beautiful and close to nature 🌿❄

Leena your voice is so soothing. I always come to your channel to unwind and relax. Thank you for making the sacrifice if doing voiceovers in English …. I’m Jamaican and though I’ve only visited Sweden… I am obsessed with Scandinavian culture. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you for this video and for showing the beauty of Norway and letting us be a little part of your life!
Norway 🇳🇴 is full of scenery and beautiful 😍 ❤
Beautiful "pearl clouds" in your video. Glad that nothing worse happened with the accident. Let´s hope they can save the van 👍
The only way to fix very cheap vehicles in my mind is to balance new and used parts. There is a national online library of used parts in Norway where you just type in your vehicle registration number, and it will list all available used parts for that vehicle, in the entire Norway. This is very useful, but it is relevant that you can do a bit of mechanical work yourself.
If you cannot or just don't want to do it yourself, it is often cheaper to just own a newer car because it will cost less to use because less things will fail(just generally speaking because there are no guarantees in life, neither with cars). It all depends on your financial situation and how much you can fix yourself, really. Often it can also cost less to have a loan on a newer car, than purchasing an older car in cash. It's always a balance though so it demands a bit of know-how.
Ivy is SO adorable! He is the sweetest dog on Earth! Thank you for having adopted him from my country!
Bummer with the van! But a blessing you are great! I speak from experience, that you are better getting a new vehicle than risking your safety and having constant dangerous breakdowns which not only wear out your pocketbook, but your happiness and freedom, plus your peace of mind. You are young yet, and able to make money. If you get injured from an accident due to vehicle failure, you could compromise your health and ability. Just an old ladies advice! You do what works for you, but I take the vehicles injury on top of its health problems as a sign of the future to avoid. 🥰
Glad you are both unharmed from the car accident. Had an almost-accident myself on the snowy roads this winter and it really goes in slow motion like you say...
Really beautiful video as always. I had to laugh when Joachim slid through that cabin door x)
Those aerial shots at the end were absolutely breathtaking! Raw beauty of nature.
Hello how’re you doing?
While I'm sorry about your accident, I am so happy that the two of you are ok. In those weather conditions it could have been much worse. I love watching your videos as they are so relaxing to watch and I feel a sense of peace and wonder when I watch them. May God watch over you two and supply with all that you need this winter to thrive! Much love.
Yeah, that's very true! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. Much love to you too ❤
So beautiful ,and harsh .
I have not seen snow in 3years
I live in North Carolina USA
It is hard to imagine your life in winter
And living with such extreme temperature
I would freeze solid !
Here we are seeing winters end and
Green shoots have burst into spring flowers
Of daffodils and tulips ,the sun is now warm
Against the skin and toes see the sun as sandals
Replace boots .
Your life is extraordinary !
My dog watching your dog playing in the snow ,
Had him peeking out the door before his morning
Walk unsure of what to expect !
We both enjoyed seeing your world ,
As we begin preparing the garden and embracing
The warm day ahead as we send warm thoughts to you .
Awww it never ends with vehicles! Empathy and sympathy! At least no one was hurt. Keep the vehicle if you love it and it is reliable and repair the important things. I now live in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and will always have studded tires. They are invaluable for winter driving. Wishing you luck with your vehicle! Thanks for sharing your experience 💖
said this before but that is really the cutest dog ever. i know the feeling of your "peaceful" accident (never been in a car crash specifically, but similar kind of situation). you basically just accept that there's nothing you can do and think "well, f-ck. here we go." glad you were safe.
Couldn't agree more. 😊🐾 Yes, that is exactly how it felt! Sorry to hear you had to experience that too.
@@LeenaHenningsen no actually it was very life-affirming. i wouldn't trade it
I am so sorry to hear about your accident. Your video’s are always so serene and poetic and It is so good to see you both again. Again this video is so impressive so very beautiful ! Good luck with the van repairs. Much love from California !💕🌷
Aw thank you, much love to you too! 🥰
Absolutely love watching your love for both Joachim and Aivy. I could only think of Aivy when you described the accident - did he not bounce off the seat? I'm glad you're a cautious and sensible driver and that "only" the car got damaged.
I can't WAIT to have the challenges that you are facing one day. One day, hopefully...
Thanks for you videos and I'm very envious of your skills!
Hello how are you doing?
So happy you are back. Sorry you have had some bad times.
Hello how are you doing?
Such a good, wholesome content, without any unpureness, Lena! Please continue with that, and thanks be to God your accident didn't harm you too much!
Hello Leena and Joachim "The fire starter" I'm sorry to hear of your tribulations with the van. At least you both came out of it in one piece, physically, and nobody got hurt, right? You both have been so resilient, so keep at it. One thing at a time, very slowly. It is beautiful where you are. I don't know if we could handle (-50c). Here in Montreal it has gone down to (-20c -25c) here lately. Last week it dropped to the minus (40's c) which was totally unusual and brutal to say the least. Hope you are keeping well and warm up there.
Yes, we were very lucky! Thank you for saying that. Stay warm! ❤❄
Dear brave beautiful child, I'm so happy for you, thank God you are allright, all of you. It is such a delight to watch the atmosphere you live in... Big hugs , and lots of love from Ukraine!
Hope you guys stay warm and safe throughout the end of cold weather. Thank you for sharing the beauty of this place with us 💓🙏🌎
Oh my gosh! I so know how you feel about crashing your van. I did the very same thing in 2009, in the rain, hitting a barrier at 50 mph. There's nothing you can do in that situation except just accept it. I'm so glad you two and Ivey are alright. Take good care. A new and beautiful van is on its way to you!
I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I can remember -30 degree below zero! 🥶I live in Northern California now for over 35 years , but I take many trips up Ski ⛷️ county Tahoe california 🌬️
Another very beautiful Video. I love your Channel Leena. You are still an inspiration. But it's truly scary and crazy... my dad just had a car accident last week (nobody was hurt, thankfully) and until know I don't feel like 2023 is a year of easy going new challenges. I feel like this is an experimental time with a lot of hard challenges. Fingers crossed that we master all these challenges. Keep your head up and keep your smile. Everything will be okay.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad your dad is okay. I'm sure we will ❤
I'm so sorry about your accident yet thankful you all are okay. Hopefully you will be able to save the van. Cars are expensive to be sure to maintain. You live in a very cold yet beautiful part of the world in Norway with extremely cold temperatures, beautiful sunrises/sunsets, Northern lights, trees, moose, deer, and other wildlife. May you all stay safe and be well. Take care. Jenny USA
Dear Leena, I'm sorry to see you so lost about the car situation and frustrated with the way life can't seem to give you a break. While it may take a lot of effort once again to build a new van, imagine how you could make it tenfold more enchanting and practical with the carpentry skills you learned and with your increased experience in art and painting. And this time, Joachim will be able to put his touch on it too. To make a new van together would certainly have a result beyond your and our wildest expectations (If you dare to pour your heart into a fragile car again ofcourse). I hope you're fine, I know you'll cope and I wish you all the strength and love to get through the last long and tough stretch of this winter.
You have chosen a path that embraces nature and beauty. For those moments in time hard things come, the times where you create, through photography, painting and the gifts God has given you are all worth it. I love your art, the music, video of the wind blown snow, the tree in the light and the Northern lights. Where else can you find that beauty on earth. Embrace the hard and release in nature’s beauty and warmth.
So hsppy to se that the 3 of you are save and nothing bad happend. The car can be repayrd❤🙏🍀so baeitiful the winter in norway harsh bud prity 🙏❤👍🥂good luck for you lot your dog looks sooo sweet 🥰

Hello how’re you doing?
Every time I watch one of your video's I feel so close to my Norwegian ancestors. My family presided in Oppland, north,South ,east and west. Hedmarken and Toten. I'm assuming you might be somewhere in that region. Anyway, I so love your video's and seeing the beauty that surrounds you. I'm so thankful no one was injured in your car accident! I have been in 2 and you are absolutely right... everything seems to move in slow motion. Uff da! Hoping and praying things work out for your vehicle !!!
Oh, that's wonderful. Hedmarken is not far from here. Thank you so much! 🙏🏻❤
@@LeenaHenningsen That makes it even more special, knowing you are in the area where my Great Grandma departed and came to America. My Father has her trunk that she came with !!! 💞❤🙏🏻
Mesmerizing beauty of the North! Glad you escaped unscathed (and the car is fixable or replaceable). On my last day to work In Alaska ( I was leaving the beautiful state for good), it was late October, all roads was pure ice with snow berms left by the plow trucks. Going slow I lost control of my car, it spun around and hit the berm (I was on a secondary road right before entering the main road). The snow berm saved me from going straight across the main, 3 lanes road and a large truck behind me was far enough to safely stop avoiding hitting me. So I do know the feeling which is impossible to forget. What is weird, this happened on my last day in Alaska, after living there for 15 years.

I was relieved to know that you two are safe and well. Leena, whenever I watch your videos,( and I must add that this latest one is truly a gift to all of us), I am reminded just how amazing this planet we call home is. You take us to a place of great serenity, and beauty, and most of all, hope. Remember that sometimes unfortunate events remind us of how fortunate we are. If that makes sense. Sending love and goodwill to both of you.❤
Oh yes, not only is Røros area cold, it's also windy. I am sure Joachim show off with his Norwegian survival skills and have done lectures on how the wind makes the effective temperature way lower, need to take the wind chill factor into account to avoid frostbite. Indeed, the cold is a challenge and all sorts of car problems, winter tires with spikes is needed some places, but not in cities. Driving during heavy snowfall is stressful and the feeling of a sliding car and then a crash, been there done that, the important thing is avoiding injuries and low speed is indeed important. Digging down into cabin door gave flashbacks, I recall one Easter the snow was as high as the cabin roof, took forever. I do understand why inland cabin with all the empty space can feel attractive, but life is so much easier down by the coast, not being off-grid and the heat transfer from sea make a big difference. Good luck, there are easier options than this. :)
Oh dear Leena.....what an impressive video! I have just found it...the one from last year in February! We lost our car to a bad accident about two years ago while taking a friend out for lunch....It was a total loss, but as you also stated, we were fortunate and were not injured. The bitter cold and darkness where you are living for me would be so very challenging...but I truly believe it has made you most resilient and strong and I believe this is true for many who live in such challenging locations....it has awakened within a deep understanding and appreciation for nature....its challenges and its beauty. Thank you for this lovely video. .
I'm relieved that you all feel so much better now after the accident and your sickness
Dear Leena - It's good to see that you all are keeping up with the cold. In this video the meditative clips of the moose herd moving through the snow at the end left us speechless in awe. Much love to all three of you from us here in Denmark.❤
During the last week until present I have been in close touch with my adoptive daughter who is fleeing a dangerous situation with her 6 year old daughter. In the middle of the journey her car engine blew and it could no longer be driven. She was well taken care of but the car had to be left behind and sold for a minimal amount of money. In hindsight we thought that maybe, for a few different reasons, it was meant to be that she no longer had this car and that she would be better off without it in the long run. I'm not suggesting that this is the case with your van but if it does turn out that it's destiny is not to be with you perhaps this example of a positive perspective on it might be helpful. I wish you the very best and admire both of you tremendously for your maturity and willingness to venture into unknown territory together. There is so much beauty in yourselves and your relationship with each other. Much love to you gorgeous, sensitive souls.
You guys are so Lucy to live in such a magical and amazing place. You have such a beautiful home. Life comes with its ups and downs, you just have the move on for a better future and have a positive mind. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪

What a winter adventure it has been for you. I have had my own challenges here in Sweden and can relate to your longing for things to just go right for a while. I hope the car situation will find a good turn that will feel right for you in the future. My first reaction to the accident was, that the universe made it very clear that it was time to say goodbye to the van. But that is just my interpretation, I am sure you will find your way to figure out what's right for you. I know how hard it can be to say goodbye to a home on wheels since I had to make that decision for a van I had lived in full time for five years... But from the future me perspective (that was almost three years ago) it doesn't seem that big of a deal anymore. So whatever your options and decision will be, rest assured that you will get used to the new situation and solutions will pop up eventually. I think the saying goes, "Life is what happens while you make other plans." So I like to remind myself that I don't always have to figure things out. When I stand still and observe, a new path might present itself.
All the best 🌼
Oh my gosh, so glad that Joachim and Ivy and you were not seriously hurt in the accident. Maybe take it as a sign to just get a new van? I have to say it is super impressive to see you handle Norwegian winter. I love Norway and regularly visit it, but honestly, the winter out in the countryside would be too scary 😂 so kudos to you

Aivy is really one of the prettiest and sweetest dogs I've ever seen. 🤍
I had a Romanian stray once, short-haired and brindle, amazing dog, and when looking around at strays, I realize how many ways dogs can look that you simply can't find in pedigree dogs (and often those are very overdone with their anatomy and coats).
